Today I bought DH a gorgeous Austin Reed tweedy jacket in new condition for £2!

I gave them a lot more, but the truth is there is no way we could have afforded this in a 'real' shop.

Charity shops are fab.

An incredibly warm scottish cashmere jumper for about a quid that is really good quality and must have cost at least 100 quid new.

Scramble · 28/01/2008 23:42

Gorgeous coachbuilt silvercross navy and white pram, had a sign for £10 on it, but they were having a half price sale and I got it for £5.

I bought a pair of Formes maternity jeans for about £5. They were the most comfortable things I wore that pregnancy and looked great too. Last week I bought a Monsoon top for £4 and wore it at a posh meal with dp together with my skirt that cost £5. I think my boots were the most expensive part of the whole outfit!

that ballgown sounds wonderful

SkaterGrrrrl · 26/10/2009 19:14

Bumping this old thread to brag about today's haul!

I got a 100% cashmere top for £15 - its a purple v neck top and soooo soft.

And a black skirt from Monsoon for £6.

Anyone else find anything good lately?

Danthe4th · 26/10/2009 19:24

Bought a fat face coat for my ds age 8 for £2.95 today, he didn't need it but its lovely.

positiveattitudeonly · 26/10/2009 19:30

I just have to add mine here, too.

When DD1 was 2 years old she wet herself in town so I popped into the charity shop for a dry pair of trousers to get her home in. GOrgeous trousers for £1.50. They lasted DD1, DD2, DD3 and DD4 (DS was let off as they are pink! ) Then they went round again as 3/4 length trousers. DD4 (very skinny) is now 12 and she has grown out of them this summer as they now stop above her knees. DD1 now 18, so I reckon I got 16 summers wear out of £1.50. Brilliant!!

BikeRunSki · 26/10/2009 19:30

Brand new, in box, tags on laces, tissue paper in toes, my size - brown leather PF Flyers (like Converse shoes, but cultier) - £4 (normal retail for £40ish), about 18 montgs ago.

Cycling waterproof/windshirt (Buffalo, if that means anything to anyone) £1.50, 20 years ago, have worn it for every bike ride/hill walk/climb/ski ever since, there have been many.

Breadmaker - last month - tenner - love it!

DS's Next anorak for this year - 75p!

saintmaybe · 26/10/2009 19:37

My favourite ever dress, 50's, still wearing it every summer 23 years later, still stopped in the street and asked where I got it, 25 fecking p!!!!

Also a nice tweed mens jacket when I was a student, a year later I found a half-sovreign in the pocket lining when I was spectacularly skint, and sold it for £50

chegirlknowswhereyoulive · 26/10/2009 20:45

I got a Diane Von Furstenburg 100% (non wrap) dress for 1.99 last summer. I was pretty darn pleased about that!

feetheart · 26/10/2009 20:54

Not really a charity shop but second hand clothes corner of some factory shoe shop about 17 years ago - £7 for a pure wool, very long (I'm tall!) Gianni Versace coat

SkaterGrrrrl · 26/10/2009 22:00

Charity shops in posh areas on a Monday have all the best stuff - all the new stock from the weekend gets put out.

I also tried on a £4 Hobbes skirt in perfect nick today - but the colours were too zany for me.

nannyl · 04/11/2009 22:15

white stuff
next
M&S clothes from charity shop

Nothing more than a fiver and mist things nearer £1!)

noddyholder · 05/11/2009 14:10

pagwatch · 05/11/2009 14:13

I found a handbag just like this one recently and got it for a couple of quid. It is in pristine condition and black patent leather and is exactly like the one my mum had when I was born

The picture link isn't good but I am strangely drawn to it. I can't help wondering why anyone would decide to place their handbag against a tree for best effect. It just makes me think of someone leaving it there while they nip behind the tree for either a pee or a quickie....
