Song Search for Funeral, Can You Help Me Find It?

My Mum died recently.
Years ago she picked out a song for her exit from the service but she did not write it down. I did ask her to. She did play it for me.
Some of the words were about lying down sleeping next to your partner forever or together again . It might have been from the 60s. It was a male singer.

Can anyone help?

I have picked a C&W song out that says roughly the same thing but I know it is not that.

Is it Cherish (the love) by Kool and the gang?

NinaLively · 07/11/2024 18:03

Was also going to say For The Good Times by Perry Como. Sure that's not it?

Raahh · 07/11/2024 18:12

From the lyrics, one of my first thoughts was 'Last request' by Paolo Nutini- but that's only about 18 years old, so can't be that.

I hope it comes to you, OP.

Annie's song - John Denver

AnneKipankitoo · 07/11/2024 18:30

That is one of the other songs I have chosen @Redshoeblueshoe

I’m sorry about your mum, @AnneKipankitoo
This is the song that came to my mind- it’s an old standard, but there are a few versions, including a 60s version by Pat Boone

I’m sorry for your loss @AnneKipankitoo and I do t have any suggestions for you.
However, I have searched and just spent a lovely hour listening to old songs on Spotify and reminiscing about my own lovely Mum. It’s brought back some happy memories, So thanks for that and I hope you can hold on to some happy memories too ❤️

Lovely response ☺️This has made me smile and cry a bit. My mum died a year ago.

So sorry for your loss OP. Sending a hug.

Sorry about your mum. It’s awful when you can’t remember something like this, because you want to get it just right for her. Did she like Nat King Cole? My aunt had Starlight a played at her funeral. It’s a lovely song.

spangletix · 08/11/2024 08:00

Jim Reeves - Take me in your arms and hold me?
Sorry for your loss OP x

AnneKipankitoo · 08/11/2024 08:01

I have no idea @Newterm . I think it was a random song she had found. I had never heard it before.
