Can you recommend a really nice care home in North Hampshire, Surrey or SW London?

This is for my Mum who does not have dementia but is now dangerously immobile. She also needs some fun and company. She is self funding and has enough money but what she is worried about is finding herself in a home with more unwell people who are not able to engage.

My MiL was in Bramshot Grange in Hampshire. She was on the dementia floor but there was a non dementia floor as well. There were a lot of staff and a lot of activities so I would think it might be worth a look to see if it might suit your mum.

Thank you MrsWobble - I will have a look.

Hopeful bump for any others?

My FIL was in Hill House near Farnham and they were excellent. It's part of a small chain of homes around Farnham and Fleet so there should be something there.

PigLightingBastard · 21/11/2022 17:21

Birtley House near Guildford.

Oak Lodge is very very nice (but v expensive) near Basingstoke

HappyHamsters · 21/11/2022 18:25

Would she manage in a residential home rather than a nursing home.

Vermin · 21/11/2022 18:29

Galsworthy House on Kingston hill

Eden Court in SW11. Dementia patients are kept separately from the sane elderly, which benefits both.

Dementia patients are kept separately from the sane elderly, which benefits both.

That’s a rather crude and inaccurate distinction to draw. Dementia isn’t insanity.

Silvermere care home in Cobham is very good but horribly expensive (even more than the norm!)

NCagainandagainand · 22/11/2022 16:28

If there are sufficient funds available, would live-in care be an option? Essentially it's a carer at home with them 24/7 (apart from short breaks). No good if she needs more than one person to help with mobility, if there isn't a spare bedroom for the carer, or if she also needs help multiple times a night (unless you can run to a night carer as well) but it can work well for those who need company and practical support.

There are signature care homes in Wimledon and Wandsworth

LadyLapsang · 23/11/2022 23:26

I have heard positive things about The Old Rectory in Ewhurst, Surrey.

CaronPoivre · 23/11/2022 23:31

Look at the Cinnamon group. They aren’t cheap but are very very good.

Knelwood House in Farnborough. Cared for my dearest grandfather kindly and respectfully.

Alonglongway · 24/11/2022 00:21

Another recommendation for Galsworthy House in Kingston

theycallmestacie · 24/11/2022 00:23

Birtley House near Guildford. It was a while ago now, but they were lovely with my DGrandmother.

I worked here doing care work for six months during my gap year. Having seen behind the scenes, I would trust them with my own family members, it's an amazing place.

Another vote for Hartfield House in Leatherhead. Cared for my mother as if she was a family member until her death.
