I'm just waiting now for That Phone Call

If you don't mind , I'm parking here before I set off of the road many of you have have trodden.
My Dad is on End of Life Care . We are waiting for updates and phoning the hospital.
Due to distance , Restrictions and Dad having Covid we cannot be with him.
He is on morphine , pretty non responsive ,but mainly quiet
We had a Skype call so he could hear us but of course he couldn't respond .

I know it is inevitable . We are all born, we all die .
Some too early .
Some take more from the world than they bring to it

My parents have always been religious ( Baptist ) so he will go on and meet his Maker . He's never feared Death.
His Faith has always given him comfort so in that sense it will be a relief to him when he passes .
My Mum is in poor health but in respite care so we have to organise a lot of her behalf .

2021 has started in a spectacularly shit fashion. Sad

I'm so sorry, it's one of the worst aspects of the pandemic isn't it? The thought that you can't be with your loved one at the end, it's just too horrible.

I'm so sorry you are in this place. I can't say anything to make it better, having been where you are last April, but my thoughts are with you and your dad.
The nursing home mum died in were able to arrange for a priest to do a blessing for her the last day via Zoom - not that she would have known, but I felt better for it happening. Maybe the hospital could arrange for the baptist chaplain to do something if you would take comfort from it?

Thank You , we are all trying to hold it together and wait .

Dad has been a Star throughout looking after Mum, throughout Covid restrictions he took all the precautions .
But it caught him. (It wasn't Covid that put him in hospital but it was an added complication )

CMOT The Hospital Chaplain has already visited him which I am glad of as it would've comforted him , yes .

The Minister from their Church keeps in touch and had visited but cannot now .

He always says he'll get to Heaven after spending nearly 60 years on Devil's Island (Married Life) Wink

My sister is awaiting the same call about her husband. She's self isolating because of a recent contact so can't have her daughter (support bubble) there to comfort her.

Awful isn't an adequate word.
