can anyone recommend where I can get a nice microwave meal for my mum on xmas day?

she doesn't eat very much and she isn't good at going out

we are going out for a chinese on xmas day and to take her would be a nightmare, its all too mcuh for her now

I've seen myself cooking small quantities of a turkey dinner on xmas morning to take over to her to give her a xmas dinner, but its such a faff and as we are going out I'm buying no xmas dinner stuff anyway

does anyone know if M&S do a nice dinner for one with turkey? I seem to remember asking them this time last year and they sold out the minute it came in store!!

any suggestions would be very welcome!

I was going to say M&S, although not sure if they do a turkey meal. I was very snooty about ready meals until recently when DD was born, A couplfo days after we got home from the hospital and friend caem roudn with a pile of M&S meals - 2 veggie dinners, 2 meaty dinners, 2 toddler dinners, 4 puds, a box of team bags and a packet of biscuits. They were all delicious.

If you can't find a turkey ready meal , could you not make one, I am sure I have seen single turkey breasts for sale in my local Co-Op.

newbike, I have made one before, tiny bit of turkey, 3 sprouts, 2 boiled pots, 2 roasties, one bit of stuffing, 2 pigs in blankets, some gravy.......for one its a not worth it, for all my mum would eat its easier to buy a wee ready meal and get her some nice puddings in

to be honest I dont know collision, I just feel like I should make/get her one, I dont actually think she is all that bothered now you come to mention it, its probably just one of the many things I feel I should do for my mum cos there is no one else to do anything for her, maybe I should ask her, but I know she'll say "I dont mind" then on xmas day if she hasnt a special meal I'll feel bad

How about some soup and a roll and a mince pie?

I think she would prefer that if she is not a big eater.

if she's not a big eater, whatever you do, only give her half.

My mmum could eat very little while she was ill and if I gave her a full plate she could often not face it. If I put a few nice bits on her plate she could manage.

anyway, found her a nice xmas meal for one in M&S today, £3.99 and I'll buy some sprouts as well

sorry to rehash an old thread, but it's made me smile

my mum has her xmas dinner and enjoyed most of it

she died last month

I'm so glad I made such an effort for her, always

she was so worth it

I didn't write "such an effort for her" meaning to sound like a martyr

but I did really make an effort for her, for years and years

not only because there was no one else to bother (despite having siblings Angry)

but because I loved her

the warden where she lived told me when she died that my mum had felt loved, and not every old person living there felt that Sad

sad sad times but happy memories too

Hi ssd so sorry to hear about your mum. You should take much comfort from knowing that you did do your very best for her. I'll always be very grateful for the support you gave to me when I joined this forum and was posting on this thread. I always felt it was so generous of you to take time to reply to my posts and to share your knowledge and experience. Take comfort from the happy memories and that your mum did appreciate all you did - and I'm sure loved you as much as you loved her.
