IQ test on BBC

Chinchilla · 06/05/2003 22:17

I have just done it on the internet, and apparently have an IQ of 130. I think that this must be OK, as I got 62/70 right! WOW is all I can say. I have printed it off to show dh. Yes, I am boasting...but at least I now know that being a SAHM isn't too damaging to the brain!

Hee hee hee - I got 65/70 and I allegedly have an IQ of 134!!

It didn't bother me as long as I beat DP... he got 120

Let's all join MENSA. 130 is the level to qualify (if that's the right word??).

Rosiemum · 06/05/2003 22:25

I allegedly have an IQ of 140, which shocked me somewhat!

How sad are we.....

Mum2Toby · 06/05/2003 22:27

DAMN YOU ROSIEMUM!!

Not that it bothers me or anything like that.

jealous<

Shall we start an "Aren't We clever girls" thread?

EmmaTMG · 07/05/2003 08:06

Blimey Girls, I thought I was quite good getting 116, I feel like somewhat of a dimwit now.

Mind you I am 20 weeks PG so that should mean my normal IQ is about 350

Mum2Toby · 07/05/2003 08:11

Pregnancy knocks at least 15 off your IQ ..... I'm sure I read that somewhere

Welcome Emma!

And aren't we all clever girls!!??? Of course this will serve us well in the real world, won't it. It takes a person with a high IQ to change a nappy, get puked and peed on, get up during the night, sit through teletubbies ALL DAY, cook fish fingers and trim finger nails.

Yes.... we shall all do well.

doormat · 07/05/2003 08:38

Chinchilla what is the address of the site as I would'nt mind having a go!!!

Mum2Toby · 07/05/2003 08:46

Doormat - it's on the BBC website. There must be link from their homepage to the National IQ Test 2003.

Good luck.

MrsS · 07/05/2003 08:46

M2T - I like the idea that pregnancy knocks 15 points off your IQ. I got a score of 136 despite being 38 weeks pregnant. I always guessed I was smart but was unaware I was a GENIUS !!

Mum2Toby · 07/05/2003 08:51

Doormat... found it!!

Can't do the link thing but here's the address:

www.bbc.co.uk/testthenation/

Mrs S - ....ahem.... it peaks mid pregnancy and by the end of your pregnancy your IQ is normal. You're still a genius!

bunny2 · 07/05/2003 18:40

I really wanted to do this but dh refused. I met him at a Mensa do (I'm a member, he gatecrashed) and me thinks he has a chip on his shoulder.

Because they were too easy maryz (your exams), you have to tell yourself this

Chinchilla · 07/05/2003 19:26

Plus, I think that these tests look at different areas than school tests, which 'only' test your memory. (Well, they did when I was at school!) It just goes to show what a clever lot we are hey!! I always knew I had a brain in there somewhere, but having a child and a dh who doesn't make me think I'm all there has knocked my confidence slightly. Now at least I know that I'm not totally dim

showoffs

I only got 111 and I did it twice to try and improve - existing on no sleep at the moment thuogh (only 3 hours last night) that must be worth at least 30 points don't you think?

meanmum · 07/05/2003 19:55

Whoops. I shouldn't be allowed to do the test as I tried to remember the link that that m2t put in but instead got some sort of porn site. I accidentally put in bbc.testthenation.co.uk rather than bbc.co.uk/testthenation. Duuuuhhhh. It's official I'm thick and I haven't even tried the quiz yet.

lilibet · 07/05/2003 20:29

I got 140!!! b/f got 125 and tried to say that it was rigged! nah nah nah nahnah! I was really pleased at first, then wondered how come someone in the supposed top 2% of the country was sat every day doing a crap job that she hates!

Demented · 07/05/2003 22:32

northerlass, don't worry I got 113 we'll just go and sit in the dunces' corner together!

mieow · 07/05/2003 22:39

I got a average score of 100!!!! (thought I did really well Can I join you in the dunce's corner??

northernlass1 · 07/05/2003 22:39

demented
it was the memory thing - got almost full marks on everything else - which fits in with me - I am really bad with short term memory at the moment - well all the time really (my excuse anyway - probably really thick!)

Janeway · 07/05/2003 22:42

we are an intelligent lot - did the test from the telly on paper expecting to find it difficult but was surprised how easy the questions were - got only 3 wrong which gives me an IQ of 140 due to slightly advanced years!

Lillibet - the same thoughts have been occuring to me - certainly given me a confidence boost at work, I'd been feeling a bit 'mumsy-brained' but I must be scoring higher than most of the guys there

Oh dear I badly overestimated myself and got 115 better not let dh see results as he wil be unbearable for months

bubbly · 07/05/2003 22:58

ooh MAryz I like that me too now i'm 160 (someone check the maths though as that was my waekest bit)

Demented · 07/05/2003 23:14

Ah Northernlass it was the numbers that did it for me. My memory is pretty good (for daft things, not necessarily anything that would really make a difference in life) but have always found those number questions a bit of a struggle - Mary bought two bananas, Kevin bought three, Fred bought an apple, it all came to £2.63 how much are the plums? Arrrrgh!

judetheobscure · 08/05/2003 00:25

I hate the ones with diagrams that you have to match up to other diagrams in some kind of way. They're torture.
