IQ test on BBC

Chinchilla · 06/05/2003 22:17

I have just done it on the internet, and apparently have an IQ of 130. I think that this must be OK, as I got 62/70 right! WOW is all I can say. I have printed it off to show dh. Yes, I am boasting...but at least I now know that being a SAHM isn't too damaging to the brain!

I hate the number ones too Demented ... they make me all nervous and sweaty ....

MrsS · 08/05/2003 06:53

We should have all been great at the doggy and teapot jigsaw questions

sprout · 08/05/2003 07:59

Demented, that's just how I felt when we had to do those kind of "maths problems" at school. And have things changed in the last 20 years?? Well, if Sunday night is anything to go by: no!

MrsS: so how come I got all of those ones wrong?! Don't tell me dd at 3 is not only cuter than me but also has a higher IQ? I'll tell her to make her own packed lunches then!

SimonHoward · 08/05/2003 12:27

Didn't manage to do the one on the BBC but last time I did a test it came out to 124.

EmmaTMG · 08/05/2003 12:41

What only 124!

Mum2Toby · 08/05/2003 12:43

Pah SH.... >smug<
At least the women have an excuse!

SimonHoward · 08/05/2003 13:05

124 is high average according to the test results I got.

Not a genius by any standards but I aced the Navy's Artificer exams when I did them years ago.

Never pretended to be anything but a little above average, well one or two things I'm better than the average it seems

Mum2Toby · 08/05/2003 13:11

You seem to be an above average stalker, but since my IQ is 10 points above you, I will always out smart you.

Claireandrich · 08/05/2003 13:30

'Fraid I only got a 118 too. Dunce corner for me as well. Can't believe how high some of you managed - how much fish eating and going to the gym have you been doing??? I messed up on the memory section. Did well in all the other sections. Besides, in my age catagory the highest you could get was 134 and that was with them all right!

SimonHoward · 08/05/2003 15:54

M2T

Stalking is an instinctual thing not an IQ thing so be prepared.

berries · 08/05/2003 20:23

141 - its my age - boo hoo

Mum2Toby · 08/05/2003 20:25

Berries! you genius!
Welcome to the clever girls thread. Pull up a pew.... do you fancy a game of 3D chess, or perhaps you'd just like a to discuss Quantum Physics.

Mum2Toby · 08/05/2003 20:26

??? You're 141 years old??

Chinchilla · 08/05/2003 21:56

M2T -

Well, it just goes to show that us mums should be running the country doesn't it! Mums Unite...

OP posts:
Mum2Toby · 08/05/2003 21:59

Oh yes Chinchilla!! If IQ's were ballot papers...they wouldn't stand a chance!

GillW · 08/05/2003 22:51

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit to 143 (alledgedly). Do you think we should lobby the BBC to have a "mums" group on the studio test next year - supplied by mumsnet of course? We'd show those city traders, eh?

judetheobscure · 09/05/2003 00:15

well I'll admit to 139; but I'm a bit puzzled by the maximum score related to age category - surely not? if you're a genius you're a genius no matter what your age is?

charliecat · 09/05/2003 07:20

I got 100...which i was well chuffed about as last year i got 86......i may not have a very good iq but i managed to get the whole of my house tidy in the 15 mins before the programme...we all have our talents!!!!!

nerdgirl · 09/05/2003 07:37

Jude, the IQ measures your 'intelligence' relative to your age group. The average 20-34 year old would have answered 51 questions correctly while the average 35-54 year old would only have answered 47. You can't directly compare numbers between age ranges here. The highest score a 33 year old could get would be 137.

So GillW - you're showing your age and IQ!

Besides, I don't think 70 questions is enough to test I.Q., is it?

lilibet · 09/05/2003 08:10

GillW, Yes! I didn't fall into any of the catergories, unless you call me a bady builder - but I tend to concentrate on building my bum rather than biceps!

lilibet · 09/05/2003 08:11

Too early for me - I am not sat here building badies, honest! IQ of 140 and still cant type!

berries · 09/05/2003 12:01

Actually, I think there were a number of things wrong with the test. It definately seemed to have an emphasis on the logic side as opposed to the language side. Also, I only got 3 wrong, 2 of them in the last set after 1/2 bottle of wine (my excuse). They said on the program that no-one would be able to get all of them right & I don't believe that. I'm not thick, but I wouldn't put myself in the genius category & suspect if I hadn't had the wine, I'd may well have got 69 (1 of the perception ones completely escaped me). I got my IQ from the 35 - 54 age group, but I'm at the bottom end of that range (honest) and it seems a big jump to me.
Anyway, it may not have been a great test, but I did get more than dh (140) so that ok. Also, I got all the memory ones right, which has led me to believe I haven't lost my memory as I thought, its just that I now have to remember things for 3 people (4 if you count dh).

katierocket · 09/05/2003 12:47

out of curiosity I went to have a look at the bbc messageboard specifically about the program, it's just covered in messages from people going on about how intelligent they are because they got 190 blah blah. Awful 'aren't I superior' feel to it. eurrggh.

Chinchilla · 09/05/2003 19:39

oops - katie, didn't start this thread because I feel superior (far from it!) I'm just amazed that I still have a brain, because after nearly 2 years of ds, it feels like I'm vegetating

OP posts:
katierocket · 09/05/2003 20:02

oh god, chincilla, I wasn't suggesting you were. the bbc board was just all about how this country was going to the dogs...blah, blah, and if only everyone was as intelligent as us, blah, blah
