Luck I reckon. I do remember being very pleased with myself as a child when I had a 100% record though.

why would it show a lack of imagination

plantsitter · 21/07/2008 16:06

Might just mean someone is super efficient at skiving off undetected (or twagging as we used to call it)

Luck.

Bink · 21/07/2008 16:18

What a fantastically silly excuse to make fun of someone.

It's luck, of course. And if they ever had to go to the dentist, it's well done the parents for booking the appointments enough in advance that it could be at the weekend.

Leave them alone.

roisin · 21/07/2008 16:21

Luck and/or parents who send you even when you're unwell.

I hate all the emphasis on 100% attendance, but we do have major problems round here so the schools have to do it.

roisin · 21/07/2008 16:22

A lad left our school last year having had 100% attendance for 12 years!

Mercy · 21/07/2008 16:25

I don't understand the question tbh!

Just ticking boxes for school inspections and reports. Bollocks. What a shit reward to get. DS got one presented in assembly once. Oh dear. I felt we were on the dull side - not proud.

(Then tomorrow is non-competitive sports day. Fucked up IMO)

MaryAnnSingleton · 21/07/2008 16:34

I'm proud that ds has near enough 100% attendance each year - this year he had 1 day off for travelling back from a family party and a half days absence for a hospital appointment - we aren't dull - ds is lucky to be super healthy and I arrange appointments usually for after school.

iCodandnotDumb · 21/07/2008 16:35

yes not always easy though if you have a major eye op

roisin · 21/07/2008 16:39

Ds1 was cheesed off because the day he went for exams/selection at independent school counted as 'absence' where as the day he had visiting his state school didn't count as 'absence'. (Counted as educated off-site or some such nonsense!)

ds2 was thrilled with 100% this year (first ever): won't happen next year. We're waiting for a date for an op which will mean 2 weeks off, possibly right at the start of term. Round here EWO come over if you have more than a week off in the first half term, even if they know why you're not in

unknownrebelbang · 21/07/2008 16:41

I got a certificate for 100% attendance at work recently

Am already (theoretically) planning my sick leave, so that I don't have to suffer the same ignominy next year...

iCodandnotDumb · 21/07/2008 16:42

rosisin are you sellgin out?!

roisin · 21/07/2008 16:43

by "selling out" do you mean going to independent or not going to independent?

iCodandnotDumb · 21/07/2008 16:45

going to......

roisin · 21/07/2008 16:49

Ha! He's not going to actually, but only by sheer luck.

Some of us don't have the luxury of fabby local grammar schools. Schools in town are grim, grim and grimmer. Over half in special measures, most destined for closure in 12 months to be replaced by Academy to be built in next 4-5 years

But by some astonishing stroke of fortune he got a place in the school in the next town, so he's going there

iCodandnotDumb · 21/07/2008 17:12

the grammar hting is good if oyu are in of course
if oyu dont its shit
