Hi all.
My son has passed his in-year exam for year 8 AGSB in Trafford Council but unfortunately they do not have a space and cannot offer a place.
I am thinking of appealing for it.
Anyone who has ever been through such a situation?Do you think it is worth going through the appeal process.

I've just had a look at the admissions criteria for Altrincham Grammar School for Boys. It says that if more boys achieve the required score of 360 than there are places available, their oversubscription criteria will apply. This is the same criteria for in-year places as for entry into Y7.

For sought-after grammars, it is common for many more students to be 'suitable' than there are places available. For Y7, this can be hundreds of students. For in-year places, it could certainly be a handful or more suitable students hoping for just one or two occasional places that come up.
