UCS 16+ entry exam

Hi everyone, unfortunately my son’s school ends at 16 and one of the schools he is very keen on for sixth form is UCS. I think they take a handful of boys so the chances are very slim but I would like him to have a good shot at the exam at least. All I know is that there’s a short essay for about 20min but then a two hour multiple choice mental skills paper or something like that. Seems very long! I have no more information than that and would rather not send him in blind especially as I imagine there will be quite a few children coming from schools where they have knowledge of the paper type or the parents know friends who’ve done the paper etc. Anyway any pointers as to what the paper is like would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you asked the school? The other thing to do is go on your local FB group or Next Door and find a tutor who will know what is involved. It’s a good school so I wish him luck.

Thank you for replying! I emailed the school admissions after applying and have called a few times but no response, very frustrating. I’m not part of the groups you suggest but will try to keep digging. Thank you again!

My DC is sitting it next week. We were specifically told at the open evening that it’s not something that can be prepared for and there are no past papers.

I would imagine it’s like the CEM or Midysis type tests. Tests a wide range of natural ability skills.
