Our school still does them apparantly, but "don't make a big deal about them". Will they tell us before they do them? Anyone know what time of year they do them?

Just wondering as dd came home from school on Friday and in her reaading book it says she took a "reading test" in which she did so well she's been moved up from ORT 3 to ORT 9. I have thought for ages her books were far too easy for her

SlightlyMadSecretSoundWinner level 3 isn't equivalent to Yr3 it is considered a "good" level in Y2 with level 2 being "average. In Yr3 children often sit an "optional" SAT paper.

www.coxhoe.durham.sch.uk/curriculum/SATs.htm explains simply.

It's my first year in Y2 after several years in Y3 and Y4.
Not really thought too much about SATs as I have this nasty habit of being too laid back.
I am continually assessing them through observations, questions and work assessments and have a pretty good idea where they are and where they need to go.
We have a target system and they do have targets based on reception attainment.
Get this - I am supposed to put all their scores on a computer every 6 weeks and it highlights in red, amber or green their expected progress towards targets.

Somewhere in my performance management is a standard about them all hitting their targets this year.

Oh and there is something in our school plan about 1/3 getting level 3's.
Which means that my pay is linked to their performance.
Better get the whip out and just focus on the year 2 results.

Or maybe I could let them enjoy year 2 without continual pressure
