My child wants to drop out of school. What do I do?

Recently my child has expressed his want to drop out of school. As you can probably figure I am not too happy about his decision. The question is, do I try and make him stay in education, let him do what he wants, or make him do more chores in the house and for his extended family.

“That’s great son. You’re an adult now and I’m sure you know best. What’s the plan? I’m sure as an adult you’ve thought this through and have a path to work or further education all planned out? Eg How are you going to support yourself? What’s the plan? We need to discuss rent and share of house costs if you’re staying here as an adult not in full time education.”
