I'll start... The group of parents who stop to chat on the pavement right in the way of everyone.

Parking.
Other drivers driving like fuckwits.
Other Parents ambling like chickens that's have had their heads removed.
Teachers chatting to their mate who happens to have a kid in their class and it holds up letting other kids out.
Head mistress standing up the steps looking over the parents, yelling instructions like Hitler at a podium.
That one parent who looks like a hippy from the 60s that comes to school without shoes... Get out the way of other people FFS.
The parents with bicycles that have a restrained baby strapped.above a back wheel, of that goes tits over, that poor buggers gonna be breaking it's fall with his teeth.

But other than that, everything pisses me off about the school run.
My kids teacher refuses to open the door until she's good and ready, not when the bell goes. supposed to be 3.30, sometimes it's 3.45... So the parents trying to get to swimming lessons or music lessons or back to work or whatever can all go get fucked and wait for her.

Oh, and the one parent who thinks they have the only child in the class.

Pick up and drop off they have to talk to the teacher about their child. And the head teacher most days.

DDs teacher used to do that in the morning. Would never open the door until it said 8.40 on HER watch which was always slow. Hmm

I used to knock loudly until they opened. I had to get to work. I'm not hanging round until she decides to open up.

Car seats on the road side of the car 🙃

Is it a thing to make sure they aren't on the road-side?

It was such a faff getting the car seat in the car and the belt through it that I'm now not moving it until DD is too big for it... If she ends up on the road-side when we go somewhere, that's what happens

LadyIckenham · 03/02/2022 20:39

People doing three point turns in the middle of the road.

I'm sure I was told to find somewhere it was safe to do a three point turn when I was learning to drive. Not just to do it on pulling out, regardless of pedestrians on both pavements around the car and mounting at least one pavement because the road is so narrow.

Also, yes to the people having long drawn out conversations at pick up time. Particularly when small children are shouting, I can see my mum and having to wait because the teacher can't attend to them:

Yes yes and yes.

Every day. They're at the gate chatting to the HT for the entire duration.. fuck anyone else who wants to speak to him.

@Whatthefrigisthis

Most of all I hate the parents.

With the exception of perhaps one or two, I don't even give the rest the time of day.

It's all fake shit and just awful. Can't stand it .

I could have written this word for word.

The Friday Dads in their achingly expensive leisurewear congregating for their weekly Friday afternoon winky-wave - braying and competing at top volume blech

Heckythump1 · 05/02/2022 20:47

@OnceuponaRainbow18

The 20 parents in front all trying to speak to the poor teacher on the door about real trivial things, whilst she’s politely telling them to email Her for the 100th time this term
There's two parents in my DD class who I swear get there early at pick up every day so they can be first inline and talk to the teacher... they 'hog' her everyday and means nobody else ever gets a chance to speak to her! I'm sure she has the TA on the door somedays just so she doesn't have to talk to these two parents :P

I also very much dislike the bloke with the big huge bus that parks practically over the crossing/on double yellows.... completely blocks the view of anyone trying to cross, so we then have to cross further down where we can't see very well.... he has a blue badge though, so he can...

Heckythump1 · 05/02/2022 20:51

Oh and the stupid idiots who park in the area that says NO PARKING right opposite the school gates, therefore blocking everyone from crossing over after dropping their kids at the gate.... but it's ok... because its convienient for them!

People who have toddlers on reins walking painfully slowly and holding the world and his wife up.... yes they are adorable, but this is not the time or the place, shove them in the pushchair like the rest of us and be done with it!

Bunnycat101 · 06/02/2022 04:10

Covid has made the world of difference at our school. The car park is still awful but it’s pretty efficient so there is a drop-off system, staggered starts and finishes and parents are not allowed in the gate so less opportunity to faff about and be annoying.

The bit I hate the most though is leaving the house and having to cajole by 2yo to have a wee, get dressed etc and the general faffing my 5yo can do. When the older one wants to get out the door she can be super speedy but more often than not I find the 8-9am slot one of the most stressful hours of the day even with a stressful job.
