My fourteen year old dd has always hated working/school work/academia. It is getting to the stage where I am pulling my hair out and have run out of options. I have tried everything - threats, bribery, changing schools, strict routines, leaving her to it, outside help (therapists, psychiatrists, help with school work, you name it).

So, give me some inside info. Did you flunk school? Why? What would have helped/worked/put you back on the straight and narrow? Have you succeeded in later life?

Make a deal with your OH that he has to deal with her now and you will have nothing to do with her school life . You have nothing to loose and it does seem like she is taking the piss, so if she sees you are not getting involved she might buck up her ideas.

ggg, given what you have said, and what your shrinks have said, can you stop her money so that she sees that the nicer things that she enjoys, shopping, cinema etc costs money, and to get money you need a good job etc

Get her a crappy job for sat mornings, the reality make shake her out of her complacency???

MB thought of you when I wrote about making mistakes but couldn't quote as had forgotten the wording.. you put it so well.

not that this is in any way helpful to gggp, but this is quite common in girls of that age Sad.

the whole, 'god this is all so crap, and why should I bother, I've got much more important things to do, like fix my nails, and you are just so old, and out of it and know nothing, and I hate and despise you and everything you stand for, so just give me £20 and drive me to the shops and then I never want to see you ever again.' sort of a thing?
