Y6 ds - label says washable. Cheap(LOL)ish polyester type, not tweedy type.

Should I have washed it by now? Blush

Every half term. DD never seems to get hers dirty. I just wash it to refresh it.

Sparklingbrook · 05/10/2012 21:10

Every Friday, Making sure all the tat is out of the pockets. Wink

Mominatrix · 05/10/2012 21:10

Once a week. It seems to walk itself into the drum of the washing machine.

susiedaisy · 05/10/2012 21:11

Every Half term

Bunbaker · 05/10/2012 21:13

Why do some of you need to wash them every week? Do your kids wrestle in the mud in them?

I like to get rid of the school smell. And I just think he has worn it for 8 hours a day for 5 days so it could do with it. Grin

TunaPastaBake · 05/10/2012 21:16

The polyester blazers are great - out of the washing machine , on hanger , dry over night.

shrimponastick · 05/10/2012 21:19

I managed to get DS to keep the same blazer for 3 years(bought it in Y7 pretty big!!).

However I didn't realise until about 2 years in, that it was washable. ;)

After that I washed it probably once a fortnight, but I found that it did fade the colour a bit.

Dry straight away though - fantastic. I wish we could do that with all clothes, straight out of thewashing machine onto a hanger. Dry with in a few hours.

AitchDee · 05/10/2012 21:25

Once a week. Straight in the washing machine when he gets home from school, then hung up to dry.

1805 · 05/10/2012 22:14

OK - it looks clean and doesn't smell yet. Half term in two weeks so I'll do it then. He needs it tomorrow for a match so I can't wash it now.

Another one who washes it every Friday. It would smell otherwise!

0liverb0liverbuttface · 05/10/2012 22:21

Not very often... Grin

sausagesandwich34 · 05/10/2012 22:24

ugh they stink!

10 years plus and children's sweat has a special smell all of it's own and sometimes deoderant just isn't enough

every weekend!

CecilyP · 06/10/2012 19:01

(When I were a lass, I had a wool blazer that was dry cleaned once per term ....)

You were lucky! I don't remember mine being washed or dry cleaned ever. In 5 years. Though I suppose I didn't wear it very much either.

ImaginateMum · 15/10/2012 20:34

Every Friday.

Chestnutx3 · 16/10/2012 06:20

Ours is dry clean only - so when it needs it, every term but only worn to and from school so not worn all day.

airedailleurs · 16/10/2012 11:11

yes same here, Chestnut

Knowsabitabouteducation · 16/10/2012 17:44

Mine get dry-cleaned every half-term if we get round to it.

LadyMaryCreepyCrawley · 16/10/2012 17:49

Only when it walks to the washing machine by itself and switches it on. Failing that, whenever it looks grubby/stinky.

wordfactory · 16/10/2012 17:50

Dry cleaned for the carol concert and prizegiving!

janji · 16/10/2012 17:51

Dd aged 6 has wool blazer that gets dry cleaned every half term.

angelinterceptor · 16/10/2012 18:01

My DC both have wool blazers. I only do them once a term or maybe half term if I remember.
They don't smell and they still look like new.

Theas18 · 16/10/2012 18:13

It's a bomb proof M&s polyester one ago most weeks, but ds is a sweaty teen!

Knowsabitabouteducation · 16/10/2012 19:20

LOL at Cecily and other Mumsnetters.

I don't remember my school blazer ever being dry-cleaned either, and I had only one for the whole of senior school.

Worse than that, I don't think my skirt was ever dry-cleaned. My mum was a big fan of sponging down.

Our games kits only ever came home every half term for washing whether they needed to be or not.
