DD asked to move school yesterday.....

DD's still bedwetting and after school yesterday she came up to me and said "If I still want her to go to XXX school - she thinks she will"

I am really worried about what has happened at school to make her say that. Until then she was adamant that she was not moving...no way...no how

i agree with wr that she may just have been having a think about it...

go with it. move her. but do have a chat and let her know that if anything else has happened then you'd really like her to talk to you about it

Well I can't really move her til September (to a middle school) so I'll wait & see

I may have to take her out of school until then depending on what's happened

She is seeing the family support lady on Thursday so fingers crossed

She feels she would like a new start....with new people

But I worry that if she runs away the problem will move with her

New starts can be lovely but the issues need addressing, what's the history if you don't mind me asking ?

She was being bullied (about 10-12m ago) and started bed wetting, the bullying has been stopped (according to the school) but the BW hasn't.

I discussed the BWing with her but so far she says "well it isn't cos Max died" max was the rabbit....he died ages ago

Oh gosh, I have no experience in that department touch wood but I guess there are bullies where ever you go. It's so hard isn't it.

But if she is being targeted by bullies, I worry that she will be targeted again

I also worry that it's not bullying and that moving her will just cause more problems (as it will make everything worse)

tbh I changed ds school last september and it was the best thing we ever did for him -a fresh start

And I talk to the school constantly

Yesterday when she woke she was crying (not sobbing or crying loud) just dripping down her face for about 20 mins - no idea what it was about (me or her not a clue) I went in to school and said shes a bit delicate today and her teacher said I should be harder on her (How?)

I think in your circumstances I'd see if I could move her now...

I know what you mean about the problems following her... but i also believe it's partly about mindset.

she obviously has it set in her mind now that this school is wrong and that a move will be better and a fresh start.. and just the fact that she feels that way is a GOOD thing imo
she will go into the new school feeling positive and that may well pave the way for a proper fresh start

  • What a strange thing for the teacher to say, honestly the more i hear about schools the more worried I get, for goodness sake the teacher should be on her side.

I just don't know what to do

She is in a junior school

All the local schools and lower & middle

She is in Yr3 - so if I move her now she moves again in Sept - which seems such a bad idea

If you knew me you'd know how unlikely that is - I parent like my mum did "strict" and "very strict" DH is a bit softer but still fairly consistant

I had this with my son on Monday. He has been bullied for the past year on and off. The last major bout of it was when he had his head smashed against a wall but after involving the police (all the school did was ban the bully from going out at break for 5 days) it seemed to stop. Anyway I thought it was all okay but on Monday he came home and asked to change schools as everyone was picking on him. Later that night my dh was talking to a man in the pub whose son had been in my ds's class and had to change schools 2months ago because of the bullying. Apparantly his son is loving it and enjoying school again. Im seriously thinking of doing the same but the schools round here are a bugger to get into as they are all full and you have to go on a waiting list until someone moves away. Have also thought about home schooling as ds's school seems useless in that respect too but i have a hectic 2.5yr old at home and would worry that i wouldnt have the time to ensure ds1 got all the privacy and help needed.

I was bullied when i was at school but never to the extent that it seems to happen now. I am sorry that i cant offer you advice but I have every sympathy for what you and your dd are going through. I hope it all works out in the end.
