Just curious as to how good an indicator it is to future prospects.

So: do you have a GCSE or O Level equivalent to the EBacc?

did you do A levels

did you go to university

Did maths last year and currently doing English.
No.
No.

Have pretty much got every job I've applied for. Learning to type was far better for me than O Levels. Further education isn't always the correct path for some.

Not sure what the bac is equivalent to, but have 12 O'levels, 4 A'levels and a degree.

I am also so spectacularly lacking in common sense that I am the person who tries to blow out a teatowel that's on fire despite being stood next to a tap.

I failed my Brownie writer badge first time round.

Have got every job I've ever applied for except the Diplomatic Service. (that's not a pun on me being gobby btw, the real DS)

  1. I'm not sure. I have Maths, 2 x English, four languages and History and Geography O levels (all compulsory except three of the languages, one of which was studied in sixth form), but I don't have two sciences, just Biology. I think that means I don't as the EBacc is supposed to include two sciences. I've always regretted dropping Chemistry to do EngLit O level (no regrets about dropping Physics, though - never got to grips with it).

Yes to all three.

silverfrog · 24/01/2011 20:35

yes to all 3 here too.

E Bacc only needs one science, one modern language, one of geography or history, plus English language and maths. Not sure whether this small sample says more about people who read the mn Education board than anything else. Everyone my age I know with a professional sort of job seems to have the equivalent of the E bacc any way, so was interested to know what population in general was like.

No, it needs two or three sciences. Here's the link:

The subjects that you'd need for the Bacc were pretty much the standard options for those taking 8 'O' grades when I was at school.

Appletrees · 24/01/2011 21:50

Yes to all three.

notcitrus · 24/01/2011 22:11

Yes to all three, as would practically everyone at my school as you had to do Maths, Eng Lang+Lit, science (worth 3, 2, or 1 GCSEs), a modern language, and a humanity (Geog, History or RE), at least.

exexpat · 24/01/2011 22:25

Yes x 3

TheFallenMadonna · 24/01/2011 22:30

Yes, yes, yes for me.

You do have to have at least 2 A*-C passes in either individual subjects, double award science or core and additional science. Applied science doesn't count for the EBacc.

And RE doesn't count as a humanity.

AtYourCervix · 24/01/2011 22:35

no (only did biology)

no (rebelled after a year and dropped out)

yes (twice)

stillenacht · 24/01/2011 22:39

Grrr blinking English Bacc- furious my subject (music) not included in it.

Am a music teacher (secondary)....I did RE at school and not history or geog and I only did biology.

He is also a teacher

TheFallenMadonna · 24/01/2011 22:42

You don;t really think music should be in the EBacc, surely?!

Pluto · 24/01/2011 22:43

No (failed Chemistry O level)

but passing my driving test was more significant accomplishment
