Thought we should all get together and calm each other down/mop fevered brows/hand around glasses of wine etc. We've seen other go through it over the past few months and it will be our turn soon.

DS has just got his AS results which were not too bad. AAAB. The B suprised him as it was for maths and we'd expected a B for french which he had not studied for a few years as sat his GCSE early. He says he will re-sit one of the maths modules and one of French ones to get a higher A Hmm

He (we!) has been considering various Unis over recent months and has visited 4.
PS is all in hand as is extended project (whatever all that is about) but time is creeping by and not long now til his mid Oct deadline (one of his choices is Oxbridge)

There has been so much in the papers over recent days about the lack of places at University at the moment and stories of how so many good students did not get places as they didn't put 'insurance' choices.

How is everyone else coping and how do we get our children to make realistic choices?

webwiz oh no, hope they let her know soon. Fingers crossed for you.
Congratulations to everyone who has their places.
Just back from DS's school, he got AAAB and A for his extended project but is still a bit miffed as he was one mark of an A* in one of his subjects. I've told him to be bloody grateful he has his first choice.

Ponders has he not contacted you yet? Git!

What a morning!

DS has just missed his Southampton offer, but has definitely got into Surrey, AAB. Frustratingly the B is very close to an A, but not close enough this year!

Still DS and us very happy, and I am relieved it is over.

Webwiz - good luck to your DD

oh jbg so sorry to read that. What about re-marking? Quite a lot of students at DS's school are having re-marks and he is thinking of asking for one to be re-marked as only one mark off A*. Have Southampton definitely said no? Has he phoned them and said he is asking for re-mark? Worth a go.
However, even if not, Guildford is lovely x

DD2 finally into Bath! Track updated at 1.30pm saying she was in and she promptly burst into tears. I think I need to go and lie down in a darkened room for a few hours now.

Hi everyone
Thx for all the support. DS school are contacting AQA ref one of the module grades (a practical done at school has been recorded as a U). So if an error has been made then things could change. If they don't, then that's fine but it would be nice to know, and maybe that elusive 3rd A will follow.
We are unlikely to know more before the weekend, so am focussing on how well he has done. DS going out tonight to celebrate, so think I will definitely be hitting the wine (and DH can pick him up from the station at midnight) Grin
I hope everyone has celebratory drink lined up. Just GCSEs next Thursday now Wine Cheers!

jgb sounds like maybe an error could have been made, an U sounds a bit odd given his predictions/offers. Fingers crossed. No matter what,he has a place at an excellent uni (I have to say that, my late mother worked there) Grin AND, if he goes there I'm often over that way so could take him red cross food parcels Wink

MABS helloooo, did C find M on FB? x

We had champers at DS's school and I had half a glass as driving then walked down the pub and DS and I shared a bottle of champagne, simply because we could Grin

waves to webwiz, wonders if our DDs have already met? DD did a couple of summer schools, plus Villiers Park last year, not so many of the one day things though

webwiz · 21/08/2011 23:03

DD2 has mainly done one day things or locally organised summer schools IShallWearMidnight she almost did Villiers Park but it clashed with something else. We'll have to wear red carnations on drop off day!
