Hi everyone very new to all the terminology so I'm just going to say it. I'm going to be getting an egg implanted in August thanks to the help of an egg donor. I would love to hear stories/experiences of what I should expect, what I could do to help the process, how to prepare before/after and general stories of success. My husband and I are excited but still trying to stay grounded in case it doesn't work. It has happened all quite quickly

Hi all, new to the forum but DE daughter just under 14 months & I think every day how lucky I am! Lovely to hear all going well youngdollhopes37. I would advise try and relax a bit and enjoy the pregnancy - I do feel that I spent most of mine either not believing it was true or worrying about something!

A question for other success stories (and those in progress!): how are you going about telling your child they are donor baby, or even are you telling them? Mine is a bit young yet but I wouldn't want her to think it's something I want to hide

ScarlettInSpace · 28/09/2017 18:16

We've only told my sister & sister in law so it's not something that's going to come up from anyone else, and that's very deliberate as it's no one else's business.

Our plan is not to make a big deal out if it but not to hide it either I think. When the conversations come up about how babies are made I guess I'll just explain how I had some problems with my eggs so a lovely stranger offered to share hers with me so we could make a baby of our own... I think for us the key will be being honest & keeping it factual so it's not a big secret but also not something they need to worry about if that makes sense?

youngdollhopes37 · 29/09/2017 22:15

We plan to tell our child it was recommended by the councillor (as part of our treatment we had to go) that we make something like a scrapbook of the hospital etc we have told our close family and friends about the treatment. There is somebody on mumsnet who was born through a donor egg and said he/she would answer any queries etc.

I've thought about telling her she has a special "fairy godmother" while she is still young

youngdollhopes37 · 03/10/2017 07:48

We were shown books but advised it would be more personal if we made the scrape book

Might be a bit late for scrap book though I do have a rather fetching picture of my husband in scrubs at the clinic which could do for a start!

youngdollhopes37 · 03/10/2017 13:51

There might be a book online? I haven't began to think what all to put in? As long as our baby knows they are a wish that is coming true. I'm only 9 weeks today so wishing weeks away

Im looking properly pregnant now! I still can't really say the word out loud without using a funny Les Dawson face/voice though Grin and I'm 25+4!

Next consultant appt is 28 weeks when I get another scan Smile

Have you got your date for your first scan through?

youngdollhopes37 · 11/10/2017 07:49

No scan date through yet 😏 I'm sure your getting excited I wish I was further along but the times not going in that slowly I suppose. I'm sure your starting to get bits and pieces ready.

OP posts:
ScarlettInSpace · 11/10/2017 18:34

Oh you should chase up your scan, it should be done before you're 13 weeks! [are you in the uk?]

I am excited, it's also just new things to worry about lol, she's moving too much, she's not moving enough...

youngdollhopes37 · 11/10/2017 18:48

Yeah our hospital is in Belfast. I’m really looking forward to it, will ring at start of next week when I’m 11 weeks. I can’t wait to feel our baby move/kick etc. Such an exciting time and dream come true. Any tips on getting past these next few weeks lol

OP posts:
ScarlettInSpace · 11/10/2017 19:38

Feeling the movement is amazing, I love it, although she's developed a habit of lodging a foot (or something) under my ribcage which is really uncomfortable!

Erm tips... try to keep busy lol, I don't know I was shit Grin oh I did book a private scan at 16 weeks to get me through to the second nhs one though, I knew I'd never make it another 8 weeks!

youngdollhopes37 · 12/10/2017 10:53

My hobby is making frames so that’ll keep me busy. I’m sure your counting down the days

Cutesbabasmummy · 12/10/2017 21:40

Not long till your scan youngdoll! Wait till you see your beautiful baby!

youngdollhopes37 · 12/10/2017 23:03

Cutesbabasmummy I know but getting a little impatient. I’d some bleeding on Sunday & Monday so that scared me a little so praying everything is alright. I’m still having all the pregnancy tell tale signs sickness tiredness sore boobies etc so I know I’m worrying about nothing. How are you?

OP posts:
Cutesbabasmummy · 13/10/2017 07:42

All good here thanks apart from a toddler who woke up crying at 1.15am for no obvious reason! Think it was a bad dream! I'm sure all with be ok with you. I bled on and off until 15 weeks. For some reason it is more common with donor egg embryos. A consultant told me if you get past 12 weeks with bleeding you have a little toughie in there! To gets crossed for you xxx

youngdollhopes37 · 15/10/2017 18:18

Thank you x hope your wee one hasn’t had any more bad dreams.

Cutesbabasmummy · 15/10/2017 20:57

OP posts:
Cutesbabasmummy · 25/10/2017 10:48

youngdollhopes37 · 25/10/2017 19:49
