How are you getting on with your search @KatyMac?
Last year my elderly aunt (who has Alzheimer’s) moved from London to East Anglia to be near us. Initially she was living with us but after 8 weeks she moved to a local nursing home with a dementia unit.

Not fabulously

A local home has been going to ring since last Wed and hasn't managed yet

We were due to see 2 further away but my cousins kids got covid so we cancelled

He has told church I am bullying him to have the carers give him his meds from a locked box and church lady replied "it's God's will so you have to get on with it; katymac is just worried about the time you took 3 weeks of tablets in 10 days"

Has your Aunt settled?

@KatyMac I’m so sorry, I had a similar issue with my grandad, we also had issues with carers, he didn’t want them in his house even though he was forgetting to take his tablets/taking them all at once. I used to drive 85miles each way twice a week to get shopping in and check on him, social services wasn’t interested in helping either until he went into hospital and I told them we couldn’t go on like it anymore.

Please make sure you get power of attorney as without it it can be a nightmare.

Have a look on www.carehome.co.uk/ it has reviews left by families so abit more realistic than the cqc ratings x

My aunt has settled well thank you @KatyMac. Her Alzheimer’s has really taken hold now and she doesn’t know where she is but she is well looked after and safe. I’m not sure where you are in East Anglia but feel free to PM me if you want details of my aunt’s care home.
