What will you do this summer when the football runs out?

First summer for a while when there won't be any international tournaments or anything.

Will you miss it?

I am aware a lot of the Dads on MN hate football. But there must be some men and women who don't.

Will they feel bereft?

Errr I remember
Old Div 3
Standing in the rain
Just thought with the "new" money

Supporting City is a rollarcoaster

I can dream ............

fryalot · 20/05/2009 22:48

we're all praying here as well!

niftyblue - we've all been dreaming since the late sixties!!!

I did see them at Wembley once, but it wasn't a cup that anyone would want to win (and we lost anyway! 5-4 to Chelsea and I still say that ref blew early!)

Use to go every other Saturday

I just want to kick Stretford Uniteds arse again and again
I want to be back where we belong

Blue Moon

I cannot forgive Hughes
Hes still a red deep down and has done it all on purpose
Just to get back at City

Now Schmichael is different

fryalot · 20/05/2009 23:07

dd1 used to go to school with kaspar schmeichel

(well, he was in yr 6 and she was in reception, but even so...)

I do think, though, that whilst sparky wouldn't have been my first choice (or my second, third or fifty sixth!) now we've got him, we need to keep him. the main thing wrong with city over the last forty few years has been the lack of managerial stability. We need to keep a manager for three, four years and let them build a team.

Even if it is Mark Hughes.

We do seem to have a good youth team coming through ..home grown just hope they stay with us and not get attracted away

I even got married in city blue

fryalot · 20/05/2009 23:14

yes, our youth policy is something we've got to be bloody proud of!

And I suppose with all the money at our disposal now, it's likely they will stay with us. We will be able to offer them more money than other teams, and they won't have to move away from where they're used to living.

My mate's husband is a man united fan and he was on at me the other day about their youth policy and I was able to tell him (honestly, I think) that they nicked the idea from us!

I was a junior blue you know (not quite the same youth policy, but even so )

Niftyblue · 20/05/2009 23:22

My relative was in City youth team and the day before he was to sign for city as he was 16
Fergie came knocking and he signed for Stretford
It divided the family

He only lasted a few season there
Sold his soul

fryalot · 20/05/2009 23:24

ah, he became the red sheep of the family, did he?

anyway, I must away to bed. It's been fab chatting with you about the (not so) good old days! Catch ya later
