I told my kids I couldn't buy presents this year and that they were not to buy any for me.I said their mother will get them presents anyway.I told them I only have money for bills and don't want that stress which could cause a seizure,I'm epileptic, of bouncing direct debits. My daughter was understanding but my son said I should do meditation and sort my life out.I said yes good idea but these things won't pay the bills. He said we don't want to have to look after you again.I am self employed and struggle for work in the winter.I could feel my self getting angry because of his reaction but just let it go.He is a very spiritual person. It really made me feel really small and was frustrated I did not know how to react.I wanted to ask this question to the women but a lady answered another thread with the men only hang on the sex forums,I don't I like the gardening forum.

One of the main reasons I don't like Christmas is the pressure of having to buy presents, especially for older children and adults.

I find it shocking how much people spend and I don't know how they even have the money sometimes.

I just dont understand if your wife is buying your children presents then that means you have bought them something. You are a husband and wife why would you buy them something separately surely that would be weird.

Didn't expect that threads back again.Well thanks for asking hope I can explain that to us it's not weird. We' ve always put aside a day before Christmas to go shopping to get stuff the kids put on their lists. Also we go round show each other what stuff we each like then split up and buy something each .But I just like to buy something different because I want there to be a surprise under the tree for each of them including the wife.

Any way stroke of luck longstanding customer asked for work done that I don't usually do and having a van really helps. So can buy presents after all .But still doing the voucher idea above which have never done before so thanks for that positive.

A xmas miracle after all and yes vouchets for your time sounds amazing. For next year maybe instead of pressies you could pay for a meal out for you all or a pantomime or something nice. It doesnt have to be presents to show you care just the thought or time.
