I have to say - i have enjoyed having kids cos it gives me a good excuse to buy classic DVD's on the pretence it is for the kids.

Bought Labyrinth and Chorlton And The Wheelies last month.

Labyrinth surprised me in how much 'innocent' stuff you could get away with back then. I doubt they would make a film nowadays with a famous pop star parading round in a cod piece and tights stalking a teenage girl...............

I loved Thundercats, except I was terrified of the blue one who owned the car - panthera or something.

Look and Read I watched at school and I can't remember which one it was - there was a group of 3 kids and I there was an eagle or other bird of prey involved. Even at the time I remember thinking hte magic e stuff was funny, but a bit pointless considering we were 10-11 at the time.

WHat I remember most from kids cartoons though was they were so dark. Visually they were a lot less bright (probably cos telly's weren't as good) but also I mean if you think about the baddies they were really scary. Mumra (sp?) was a reanimated decomposing body.

My first crush was on Superted though

I would have been watching late 80s.

Gordon the Gopher was a big hit, but did he come before or after Edd the Duck?

anyone for a cup of tea and a slice of cake

TheArmadillo · 31/08/2007 11:42

Just remembered the look and read - it was sky hunter. HAve now found it on you tube.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU7BDi2InAo I remember watching this episode, with the backwards writing. Pots on the telegram was stop - they wrote it out on the pavement. I can remember it so clearly - where I was sitting and everything. Bizarre.

filthymindedvixen · 31/08/2007 11:46

Catissleepy, they made an album of the bagpuss songs - it's very trippy folky. I love it

TheArmadillo · 31/08/2007 11:48

dp made ds sit down and watch labyrinth with him last week. Dp is obsessed with David Bowie's codpiece.

Does anyone remember a Jim Henson retelling of fairy tales? One of the stories was about 3 sisters who got turned into Ravens. Another was about a boy who was half hedgehog (what the fk was that about?). They scared the life out of me as a kid.

My friend has them on DVD and offered to lend them to me, but I was too scared

DP loved trapdoor, but I never saw it as a kid.

totaleclipse · 31/08/2007 11:50

Puff the magic dragon

TheArmadillo · 31/08/2007 11:51

The storyteller - www.imdb.com/title/tt0092383/plotsummary freaky as hell.

Loved fraggle rock as well. Didn't realise they'd brought it back - what channel?

The New Shmoo & Captain Caveman - fab

EricL · 31/08/2007 11:57

eah - Labyrinth was fairly dark, but not as scary as The Dark Crystal

I hear they are making a sequel with the original production team still using puppettry but with added CGI effects. Can't wait!
