So it looks like me and Annamiek have sailed off into our real and virtual riding sunsets! Bike

Well that was a thoroughly educative week for me. The commentaries and studio pundits were really informative, for me. And it was so good to see a lot of actual racing on the road.

Yep I think they should do it again next year.

Yep I think they should do it again next year.

UCI are, Zwift have committed to the next 2 years as well, Vos (plus plenty other leading women) has worked so hard to get the TDFF up an running.

We just all need to get behind it, i m on a few cycling FB groups and though many men are impressed, too many have been picking fault, mostly on the crashes, which of course never happen in mens racing!!!

The motor bike just seemed to over balance as the cameraman was standing up, as it rolled back.

Plasmodesmata · 31/07/2022 21:22

Men, huh. Never crash.
Win football.

I know technically I should really start a new thread but did anyone watch the Men's Commonwealth Games Road Race yesterday?

Ds used to cycle with Sean Flynn, one of the Scottish riders who was in the lead group. Essentially in track and road races in Glasgow, it was a case of "who would come second" to him Wink - except those years that Alfie George (a year younger than him) was in the same two year category, in which case there was a genuine race! His nickname was Yoda as he was quiet but focussed. Iirc he was a good mountain biker too.

Ds was commenting that Sean was doing an awful lot of the work and attacks (or covering attacks) and that the other Scot wasn't doing much. He surmised that Sean was working for Finn - who duly got the Bronze (and thanked Sean for his support) Smile.

It was a great race to watch - lots of up and coming talent in the UK.

And my TdF pick of Daryl Impey, who was thwarted from adding points to my virtual team riding, got Silver Grin (neatly bringing my post pack on-topic Halo)

Plasmodesmata · 08/08/2022 21:48

Yes I watched - was an exciting race.

How long until Spain?

DearHeidiHansen · 08/08/2022 22:51

We were in Warwick for the race yesterday. Really enjoyable - enough people to make a great atmosphere but you could still get good viewing spots around the course - which was designed so you could see the riders twice in one lap if you wanted to, without walking far. At one point we stood behind the feed zone, it's amazing how quickly the riders are going when it all looks so chaotic. The Scots looked very fine in their kilts holding out bottles. That's interesting about their team tactics, prettybird.

Lots of Isle of Man flags around, and also support for local boy Jake Stewart (who is from Coventry). We also very much liked the transformation of one of the castle gates into Ghanaian corner, and the way all the locals got into the event.

Vuelta velogames is open!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/08/2022 20:49

I’ve selected my team. My apologies to everyone I have jinxed.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 03/05/2023 19:55

Me too.

FelicityLemon · 05/05/2023 15:00

Thanks for the update must check my team before it closes

DoctorTwo · 08/05/2023 20:23

Bloody internet went AWOL at just the right time, so I missed the sodding deadline. At least I won't have to witness my team's embarrassment.

HeyJackKerouac · 26/06/2023 19:43

I created my team on Velogames and used the code in this thread to join the Mumsnet league. I seem to be the only person in it. Hope it's ok to join and that I've done the right thing. My team is called Hey Jacks.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 26/06/2023 21:26

What’s the code for the MN league, please?

lljkk · 26/06/2023 22:10

Plasmodesmata · 26/06/2023 22:38

Was talking about this today - must get a team together. Pog? Or Vinge? Or neither? Probably can't afford both!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/06/2023 10:41

Brilliant - thanks @lljkk.

We are off to Suffolk this weekend, because it's our granddaughter's first birthday, so I won't be able to settle in properly and watch the live coverage until Tuesday, when we're back. Sad

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/06/2023 10:41

It's worth it for her birthday, of course.

Beninthesortingoffice · 29/06/2023 09:05

I have joined the mumsnet league. I am quite excited for Saturday.

prettybird · 29/06/2023 09:07

Really need to start a new thread. This one is confusing because it refers to last year's TdF Confused Bike

lljkk · 29/06/2023 12:21

DH thinks Pederson is sprinter to go for; I like cheering for Binyiam.
