Just checked Velogames for the first time in a few days and blimey, no wonder I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders, I'm only bottom of the league. Glad there's no relegation.

I see I'm doing my usual: slipping down the league. Down to 13th.

Just read that yesterday's amazing stage winner is now out with a cork related injury.

I saw that he'd taken a prosecco cork to the eye during the podium ceremony, and had been taken to hospital - but I didn't know that he hadn't started today's stage - what a huge disappointment for him, after his win yesterday.

Yes its a great shame when he is having such a brilliant season. Hope it isn't anything permanent. Pro cyclists live with the risk of serious injury all the time of course but they don't generally expect it to be on the podium!
MVdP got hit in the face with the cork on the Stage 1 podium too but fortunately escaped injury. Probably just coincidence but it does make you wonder if there's something particularly tricky about this batch of bottles?
Actually I've just remembered a friend of mine who is a UCI Commisaire broke his ankle getting off a podium a few years ago so maybe they are dangerous after all...

That was one heck of a sprint finish. I did note the cork was pre-popped though, maybe a duff batch of riders who need to remember to point the cork away from themselves.

Damn, I think it's a bit too late to have the usual 'motivational' discussion at the team hotel about their abject performances.
The race does seem to have reverted to the usual 'watching each other' pattern, doesn't it? Which obvs makes break aways from non-GC teams potentially much more successful. I recall Le Tour about 8 years ago where Froome had a one minute or so advantage over Quintana for about half the race, so the idea of it being a 'race' ended.

Perhaps we could have a prize at the end for the team with the fewest riders remaining! Who had Richie Porte?

One of my "picked due to name" placefillers did quite well for himself today.
(sounds a bit like a disease. Not monkeypox).

Does anyone know if we can watch the Giro d'Italia Donne on the telly? It's supposed to start today but last year was very difficult to find coverage.
