Don't really have anything to say about it yet, but just wanted to share this photo!

That Taylor Phinney picture at the top makes up for a lot though Grin how hilarious.

prettybird · 06/08/2016 20:28

For those that want to chromecast (as we did) to get the iPlayer feed, it's worth knowing that you can't chromecast from a browser on a PC or laptop. You need to do it from the app on a smartphone or tablet Confused

Once we'd discovered this, we got a fantastic feed - but there again, we're on BT infinity and now have download speeds of 40Mb. It only buffeted twice for a couple of seconds Smile

lljkk · 06/08/2016 20:43

no idea what chromecast is or who Taylor Phinney is

Porte was sporting a broken collarbone, Boardman & me were 95% sure.

Sagan is in the men's MTB race, 21st August I think. Now THAT could be interesting.

prettybird · 06/08/2016 21:12

Chromecast is a wee attachment you can buy which means that you can "cast" what's on your computer/tablet/smartphone onto your TV (except for iPlayer if you're on a PC/laptop)

Ideal for when the BBC is covering another sport when something you want to watch like the cycling is happening.

I enjoyed the cycling today - can't wait for the women's tomorrow Bike

MrSlant · 07/08/2016 07:51

Well here goes, thought I would share with my cycling buddies my absolute terror, about to set off for France now (no mean feat as we live bloody miles away from any ferry port/crossing for starters) to drive 1,200k down France with my three DS. Two of whom fight if they have to share a dinner table for too long. I've never even driven onto a ferry before. It will all be FINE won't it? At least the forecast is for nice weather once we get over there . God help us all if DS1's bike doesn't make the journey intact ("Don't you think taking your more sturdy one would make sense? Not sure about carbon fibre on the ferry" DS1 )

Good Luck Lizzie!

lljkk · 07/08/2016 08:27

MrSlant: you're going cycle touring in France?

I find the Chrome browser to be crap, tbh, it never works well for me.
Anyway, happy with what else I could find. When are the women expected to finish their road race today, anyone know or can figure it out?

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 10:03

My chromecast comment earlier was to do with the widget rather than the browser. It was just if anyone else was having problems with the widget, as there is a workaround if you're wanting to watch the Olympics on the TV rather than on a computer. It's one of the few times where the BBC iPlayer Help FAQs actually came up with a helpful answer Grin

MrSlant - you'll be fine. Driving onto a ferry is easy and the guys are really helpful directing you.

We put ds' expensive carbon fibre bike on the inside of the towbar bike rack behind the less expensive bikes. It somehow feels less vulnerable there: both from accidents and from thieving eyes.

lljkk · 07/08/2016 10:59

thanks Felicity! We can go Pokemoning this afternoon, then :).

ThisPanCan · 07/08/2016 11:18

My Gracie is the super-domestique for the Aussies so will be up at the front for a bit and then drop back to assist Spratt, Neylan and Garfoot. Or so she tells me. Smile She's a one-dayer but can't really climb for a koala bear's poo.

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 11:28

Grim news from the mens' race. Nibali fractured his collar bone and Richie Porte fractured his scapula in their crashes.

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 11:34

Oops that should say men's. Blush

lljkk · 07/08/2016 11:34

@Felicity: are you sure about the times? Radio1 just said the women's race starts in 1 hour (maybe they are timezone confused).

:( Not surprised about the breaks, I guess Boardman was right to keep fussing about descent (just too dangerous??). I was Confused why Nibali didn't leap up back on his bike to try to keep contesting the stage. He wasn't as obviously holding his arm like Porte was.

Any news on G & the others who crashed?

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 11:39

I checked the Rio app in case of updates and it says 4.15. And the BBC listings on Sky has it then.

ThisPanCan · 07/08/2016 11:40

Those kids at R1 - whadatheyno?Smile

BBC website has it at 16.15pm BST start.

lljkk · 07/08/2016 11:46

Jayzus, Henao has a broken pelvis. :(
And Nibali broke both sides of collar bone, says one source.

In related news... There's a shocking image of a French gymnast with a broken leg (at Olympics), I strongly urge folk not to google that one.

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 11:48

As far as I can see G had some medical treatment but no serious injury thankfully. I didn't realise Henao was so badly hurt though

ThisPanCan · 07/08/2016 11:48

Wow! Hope the women are aware of all of this carnage. What a miserable year for Porte.
I'm guessing all of these riders are out of Vuelta and Worlds.

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 11:59

Hope so too. Given how many hit the deck at the pretty flat La Course I'm worried for the less experienced riders.

ThisPanCan · 07/08/2016 16:29

Gracie is number 13 in the green and gold.

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 16:41

Race is hotting up already.

ThisPanCan · 07/08/2016 16:51

and...calm!

FelicityLemon · 07/08/2016 17:15

Got over excited, at least two of them have gone up the road. I'm loving the Polish men's team coming out to support.
