I love the Glenn Gould recording and much prefer it played on piano than harpsichord. As I usually listen to it via an i-Pod on the train I scarcely notice the humming. Colin Davis also makes quite a racket whilst conducting - more tuneless singing than humming.

I am a philistine too then harpsi
He was an amazing chap but I cannot listen to him either
Or even watch 32 Short Films
I would honestly sooner sit through Immortal Beloved
Angela Hewitt is my personal favourite. But I am utterly biased towards Hyperion because they are the sole cultural phenomenon of our part of London - and how many unique record labels are there set up by a cab driver

MrsJohnCusack · 21/04/2008 00:12

marina, you and I are as twins in so many ways!

big fan of Hyperion too, and know a few ex-employees.

Did you know they now operate out of a light industrial unit in Lee MrsJC - and I guess you must know that Ted is no longer with us He used to donate every title to us, we had a special relationship with them (down to a colleague, no credit to me )
Are you planning a UK visit any time soon

MrsJohnCusack · 21/04/2008 11:51

not really marina, mainly because we can't face taking tyrannical, hideous DD on a flight. Seriously!

maybe in a couple of years, or maybe I'll just leave her behind with DH....

no I don't have a harpsichord sadly, no room
one day I will though
will try the Angela Hewitt I think
