Thankfully it's only on for 15 mins (unless I am unlucky enough to switch on R4 when the omnibus is on)

It's the only R4 programme I really don't like, apart from that thing on a Saturday evening, where some dreadful luvvies pat themselves on the back and all say how bloody marvellous they are.

And that current storyline with Robert Snell and the builder, or whoever he is, is toe-curling. Talk about 'them and us'....

The Cathy/Lizzie storyline is good.

I knew when she (L) said that bit about people talking about Cathy and Owen that it would come back and haunt her. Even though it was true. But better unsaid.

Actually, I'm agreeing with those who have said Daniel. Hard though it must be growing up with Shula and Alistair, he is very dull.

Because the programme was initially conceived as a public information service (and because the current producers seem to think it still is) all characters occasionally get the most unbelievably dull lines. Witness Ruth just before Christmas, when she said something like:

'I must go into town to post my Christmas cards, because today is the last day for second class postage though if you get first class stamps you have four more days unless you are posting in Northern Island in a town with an 'r' in it...drone, whitter, inform...'

Poor little lamb showed signs of developing A Vice (pontoo for money) but that was stamped on by SHula. Dunno why. He's not Alastair's blood child so an addiction to gambling can't be hereditary in his case.

they are all utterly vile and dull that is the whole point and why there are so many of them, so we don't get entirely fed up and switch off. actually nobody has died for ages, who do we think is next?
