We rarely go to the theatre so this is a treat for DD12
Any recommendations?

Matilda! Seen them all and by far my favourite of the 3!

pentopaper · 25/03/2022 19:31

Mary poppins for sure. Classic songs.

longestlurkerever · 25/03/2022 19:31

Alternative suggestion but Harry potter cursed child was fab

RedWhiteOrBlue · 25/03/2022 19:31

Mary Poppins! I am over 60 and I would so love to see that.

I saw "Lion King" or something similar in the Millennium Dome in 2000. I still would rather see Mary Poppins. Good for any age and so magical!

Savoretti · 25/03/2022 19:48

Thanks! I’m thinking Matilda or Mary Poppins, Lion King has never appealed to me really even though it’s supposed to be amazing. Thinking of the songs then I guess MP is the way to go actually

Matilda or mary poppins. I was slightly underwhelmed by lion king tbh.

Hbh17 · 25/03/2022 19:52

Matilda

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/03/2022 19:55

None - go see &Juliet instead

NuffSaidSam · 25/03/2022 19:55

Matilda.

Come from Away is also fantastic if you want something a little more grown up. Or Hamilton.

OrchidFlakes · 25/03/2022 20:05

Wicked is brilliant and better than both Mary poppins and Matilda in my opinion!

ajandjjmum · 25/03/2022 20:10

Seen them all - love Lion King, and Mary Poppins was great. Not so much Matilda. But you won't go wrong with any of them!

Oh so pleased to hear this as I had some vouchers and took a punt on this for when a friend is visiting despite not knowing much about it
Anna197264 · 25/03/2022 22:26

I’ve seen them all. Mary Poppins was my fave, then lion king. Didn’t really enjoy Matilda unfortunately

tokyo1 · 25/03/2022 22:27

Fave was lion king for sure. Really special. I didn't enjoy Matilda too much.

Come From Away is absolutely brilliant imo. One of my absolute favourites.

But I LOVED Matilda and was bored during The Lion King so it's all personal preference!

downtonupton · 26/03/2022 00:36

Matilda is great
Lion King was disappointing
&Juliet was I thought awful - a chaotic panto

daisydalrymple · 26/03/2022 00:48

Ahh took dd12 to see Mary Poppins on her first trip to London a month ago. We absolutely loved it! It was so fab. Haven’t seen the others, but dd loved this one. Petula Clark was in it as Mrs Bird too, which was fabulous. I

Comefromaway · 26/03/2022 00:51

I’ve not seen Mary Poppins but have the others and hey are all great shows, different in style but all well worth seeing.

Peanutgurgle · 26/03/2022 07:06

We’ve only seen Matilda (twice) and Mary Poppins. Mary Poppins is gloriously nostalgic but Matilda has more energy. Our 12yr old was absolutely wowed by Hamilton and I thought it was fantastic too. We all love listening to the Hamilton soundtrack over the others. You’ll have a wonderful time seeing any of them though.

Findahouse21 · 26/03/2022 07:08

Matilda!!

purplemunkey · 26/03/2022 07:10

I was underwhelmed by the Lion King too. We’d been looking forward to it for years and came out a bit ‘meh’. We enjoyed Matilda a lot. I’ve not seen Mary Poppins.

HelloDulling · 26/03/2022 07:21

Not the Lion King. Matilda, Hamilton, Wicked, Mary Poppins.

purplemunkey · 26/03/2022 07:26

Oh I LOVED Wicked!

Iloveyourbracelet · 26/03/2022 07:27

Lion king is the best of those three imo. I didn't think much of matilda.

implantreplace · 26/03/2022 07:29

Honestly

Back to the future

I’ve seen Matilda - great
Mary poppins - ok
Back to the future - absolutely blow everything else out the water
