Alan Rickman as Colonel Brandon in "Sense And Sensibility" and as Snape of course!

Kate Winslet - also in "S & S"

Kate Beckinsale in "Emma"

chocolatekimmy · 24/09/2007 21:21

Bruce Willis - Sixth Sense

Jodi Foster and Hannibal Lecter (so good I can't name him!) - Silence of the Lambs

Jessicatmagnificat · 27/09/2007 11:49

Branagh in just about anything, but especially his "Hamlet". I know it's had mixed reviews, but I can't wait to see his latest film, "As You Like It".

Was really blown away by Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes in "Schindler's List"

Actresses - I think Kate Winslet is brilliant in all her roles, though some of her films don't always work IYKWIM?

lilibet · 27/09/2007 11:58

on stage - Anthony Sher/Juliet Stevenson/ Harriet Walters/Ian Mckellen/Pete Postlethwaite

on film - Kevin Costner/Annette Benning/Paul Bettany/Kate Winslet/Dustin Hoffman

Sure there are thousands more but they are the ones that sprang to mind

Sunshinemummy · 27/09/2007 12:00

I love Ray Liotta as Henry Hill in Goodfellas.

Meryl Streep as Karen Blixen in Out of Africa.

Matt Damon as Bourne.

Chris Cooper in anything.

On the stage Ken Branagh, Ben Kingsley and Glenn Close have blown me away.

Alan Rickman - how could I forget him - we saw him as Valmont in Les Liasons Dangereux

OMG that man is sexy!!!!!!!!!

choosyfloosy · 27/09/2007 12:04

Anton Walbrook, esp in Life and Death of Colonel Blimp. 'Clive, my English is not so much, but my friendship for you is [spiritual pause] very much' [BLUBS]
and especially his speech when being interrogated as an 'enemy alien'. He has thousand-mile eyes.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/09/2007 12:05

Ioan Gruffydd is, IMO, a brilliant actor. He has such a mobile face and is utterly believable as well as breath-takingly handsome . I could watch him in anything although I hated The Fantastic Four. I wish he had not sold out to Hollywood.

Derek Jacobi is one of my great idols. I have seen him in loads of plays and love anything he has been in on tv/films.

I am going to stop at two - one classical and one goegeous young man - otherwise I could be here all day and the hoovering beckons.

Bundle · 27/09/2007 12:06

i was quite surprised at nicole kidman in Flirting..amazing

wrt theatre, I saw Derek Jacobi and Robert Lindsay in Becket years ago and was knocked out by their performances. I also saw Robert Lindsay play Hamlet for the Royal Court (when I was a schoolgirl) - I think that's when my RL admiration started

Ray McAnnally's incredible stare at the camera at the end of The Mission is worthy of a mention too

Bundle · 27/09/2007 12:06

lillibet, I have interviewed Alan Rickman

binkleandflip · 27/09/2007 12:06

Another vote for Ray Liotta in goodfellas, he was seriously intimidating.

Also Matt Damon in Bourne

Michael C Hall in anything

Frances Conroy in Six Feet Under

Sunshinemummy · 27/09/2007 12:07

ray liotta in goodfellas is great, love that film

choosyfloosy · 27/09/2007 12:12

ooh ooh ooh Ray Liotta

gegs73 · 27/09/2007 12:18

Jennifer Anniston she always seems really natural when she acts and I like most of her films.

Male actors, Jack Nicholson is always good value though I've not seen one of his films for ages. He is great in Something's Gotta Give and obviously The Shining.

Al Pacino - every film he's done. Brilliant...brilliant.

Sunshinemummy · 27/09/2007 15:29

On TV also like David Morrissey and John Sim. Oh and Philip Glenister.

noddyholder · 27/09/2007 15:32

Sean Penn
Susan sarandon

mixedmama · 27/09/2007 16:50

Al Pacino - i could go on about him, his films, his acting for hours.

Female is harder, errrm, no one blows me away to be honest. In the theatre I thought Elena Rodger was amazing as Eva Peron, oh it has just comme to me, ELAINE PAGE.... truly amazing.
