OMG

Shirley Bassey -- you're meant to be singing not shouting luv!

Guess it's more 'THEATRE' with her really ...

clemsterdarcy · 02/02/2007 12:43

Simon Le Bonbon

Just so whiney

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 12:45

I rather like Peter Pears ...

Mariah "pick a note, any note" Carey
Whitney Houston
Madonna
James Blunt
Katie Melua
Paul McCartney
Hell, and John Lennon too ... I hate Imagine with a passion
Mass appeal opera singers who have actually never sung in an opera ... Charlotte Church, Russell Watson, Lesley Garrett spring to mind
Anyone who thinks that singing VERY LOUDLY = passion
Elvis Presley ... very overrated

Molesworth · 02/02/2007 12:51

HOOTING @ "Tom Cruise: intense, grin, run"

Marina · 02/02/2007 12:52

While I cosy up to FP to ogle Neil Hannon, it gives you more room to adore Ian Bostridge jura . You have met him so it is nice to know he is such a good guy in RL.
I do think I am not naturally drawn to angsty tenor repertoire or vocal style.
Despite being proud owner of useless tiny choirgirl soprano, I find the contralto/dark mezzo/lusty baritone range much more seductive to listen to. So not really poor Ian's fault I guess.
Next you'll be telling me Simon Keenlyside is a total *rse...

Marina · 02/02/2007 12:53

WWb, Lesley did a good long stint at ENO before she became an annoying sleb

clemsterdarcy · 02/02/2007 12:53

Gawd yes, Katie Melua ...

whiny voice

whimsical lyrics ...

get orf my land!

WigWamBam · 02/02/2007 12:57

Ah - perhaps I'll let Lesley off then, Marina.

Still don't like her voice much, though

clemsterdarcy · 02/02/2007 12:58

Tanita-two notes-Tikarem (sp?)

Although bizarely DID quite like 'Twist in my sobriety'

So my spectrum of dislike is from the two-noters to the multi-warblers ...

JoolsToo · 02/02/2007 13:00

Cilla Black

schneebly · 02/02/2007 13:05

oh wwb! "Mariah "pick a note, any note" Carey" made me pmsl.

EmmyLou · 02/02/2007 13:39

WWB, I saw Lesley Garret at the ENO years ago before she morphed into the public-cheeky-chirpy-chapess that she soooo irritatingly is.

No one mentioned STING?

Iklboo · 02/02/2007 13:40

DH reckons Mariah sounds like a therumin falling downstairs

holidaymum · 02/02/2007 13:45

That bloke in Razorlight who loves himself in his skinny white jeans yuk! Johnny Burrel?

ShinyHappyPeopleHoldingHands · 02/02/2007 13:47

Chris Martin. He strains and strains for those high notes.. and still doesn't reach them. And nobody seemed to have noticed but me!

Although Gwyneth did make Apple wear ear muffs when Coldplay did Live 8.. and she only listened to her dad's bit! What a caring mother you are Gwynnie!

James Blunt has a fantastic voice! I suppose it's an acquired taste.. but I can't, in all seriousness, see how anyone could say he can't sing

Blandmum · 02/02/2007 13:51

Bob Dylan.....couldn't carry a tune in a carrier bag!

Whitney Houston....pick a bloody note and stick to it woman!

Aloha · 02/02/2007 13:52

Kylie! Bless her, but she cannot sing.

Aloha · 02/02/2007 13:52

Oh, yes, Madonna is utterly rubbish too.

ellenrose · 02/02/2007 13:58

Mariah - madder than a bag of spanners
Katie Melua
Gwen Stefani - not necessarily unable to sing but I just can't stand her

DeputyMacDawg · 02/02/2007 14:01

bundle · 03/02/2007 14:50

speedymama · 07/02/2007 09:59

Kylie and Danni Mingers - all hype no substance

Madonna - pass the ear plugs
