Yeah, he's shite isn't he 2nerves? He's good to look at - oh yessss!!!, but the voice is just pants, and what's with all the cheesy 'I'm a complete womaniser' videos that go with him. I loved him as Robbie in Take That though.

2nervesleft · 01/02/2007 22:25

He doesn't sing well, just ok but he does have a lot of sex appeal, which gets him through.

northerner · 01/02/2007 22:27

Victoria BecKham
Geri Halliwell, in fact all of spice girls

I don't know about can't sing but I don't get the appeal of Coldplay or any other cardigan swinging outfit.

Stiller · 01/02/2007 22:37

lol at cardigan swinging. Coldplay are the most depressing band ever!

Lilly Allen

lucykate · 01/02/2007 22:39

Agree about Mariah, Whitney, Celine - would like to add Alanis Morissette to that list of manglers

Also that none of the Beatles could really sing, although John Lennon was worst offender

Although I love him dearly, Billy Bragg has a terrible voice, same went for wonderful Ian Dury

And a big ugh to Russell Watson and also Lesley Garrett. Also find Ian Bostridge unbearable, and, controversially perhaps, Peter sodding Pears.

Marina · 02/02/2007 10:25

Chris Martin and Thom Yorke are dire, despite being interesting songwriters

MrsJohnCusack · 02/02/2007 10:30

I used to serve Ian Bostridge at HMV and he looks like the undead. really quite scary

I really can't start on this thread. I would rant and rant. But I can't resist adding Phil sodding Collins.

Bagpuss30 · 02/02/2007 10:32

Van Morrisson sounded absolutey shocking when we saw him live a few years back, although we saw Bob Dylan at the same concert and he was really rather good (sorry, Califrau!).

Marina · 02/02/2007 10:32

LOL at undead. Have you seen him flinging himself around in that Winterreise thing MrsJC. You feel like giving him a hearty slap round the chops and really Schubert should not do this to you.
I think he thinks he's a Goya painting.

expatinscotland · 02/02/2007 10:34

Some of those who can't sing are good songwriters.

But most who can't are talentless wastes of space.

tortoiseSHELL · 02/02/2007 10:35

Peter Pears?????????????? Didn't expect to read that name on this list......what a cultured lot we are!

I think most 'singers' can't sing, I really don't like Michelle McManus, Alex whateverhernamewas from Fame Academy, David Sneddon and most of the other 'I'm famous 'cos I've been on a TV show'. Oh, and Jordan.

DId the bindery phone you back marina?

MrsJohnCusack · 02/02/2007 10:37

yes Marina - I really can't watch him. so affectedly conspumptive and intense.
not actually keen on Peter Pears either so it's not just you.

MrsJohnCusack · 02/02/2007 10:38

oooh do you like my new word??
consumptive

tortoiseSHELL · 02/02/2007 10:39

pmsl at 'You feel like giving him a hearty slap round the chops and really Schubert should not do this to you.
I think he thinks he's a Goya painting.' - surely a candidate for next week's quote of the week!

Marina · 02/02/2007 10:48

He reminds me of that insufferable Green Gartside out of Scritti Politti, except that he is a marginally better singer than Mr Ian "I'm so frightfully exhausted" Bostridge.
I was OK with Peter Pears until I decided to listen to what the pair of them did to English folksongs . I am glad it is not just me as it has taken some years for me to resolve feeling this way about such An Important Person.
LOL at consumptive. It's the I am tormented in a way that proles like you cannot possibly relate to, posturing, isn't it.
