What Katy Did followed by What Katy Did At School followed by What Katy Did Next (and I read them over and over again. Others included Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glas, all the Noel Streatfield (dancing) books, Pamela Brown theatre books and any of those boarding school books, particularly one about a school in Dunoon which I kept borrowing from the library.

Loving this thread, so many memories.

Nearly all my faves have been mentioned except I think Freaky Friday, which I loved because it was semi adult.
Particularly remember reading Carrie's War because it was the first book I had read that was set in or even mentioned Wales. Before that I read Enid Blyton which I loved but was completely at odds with the world I lived in.
