Are you capable of murder? (Lighthearted)

Following on from another thread about murderous thoughts, lots of mumsnetters admitted to fantasising about running over abusive exes, strangling mean bosses etc but would never actually do it because of prison, morals etc.

But do any of you think you could actually really truly murder someone you truly despised, if you knew there would be no consequences, 100% no prison or comeback?

Actually I'm going to change my answer slightly - because I think murder requires a degree of premeditation or 'malice aforethought'.... (I may be wrong, I'm dragging the depths of my a level law knowledge here)

I think most human would be capable of killing somebody, but not in circumstances that would legally be murder.

MysweetAudrina · 19/01/2018 21:12

Not murder but possibly man slaughter. Although I feel really bad when I eat a body part of a gingerbread man so it wouldn't be worth it as I would never get over it.

MyBrilliantDisguise · 19/01/2018 21:12

If someone really hurt my children in a way that would make them suffer forever, or if they murdered them, then I daresay I could.

missyB1 · 19/01/2018 21:15

Yes if it came to protecting my family I would.

restingbemusedface · 19/01/2018 21:19

Sometimes when I see horrible stories on the news about someone being killed or hurt and the perpetrator not being brought to justice I think ‘if I were their family I would kill them/have them killed.’ And I honestly think I would - especially if it involved my children.

Hmmm, sorry, not so lighthearted Blush

Caenea · 19/01/2018 21:23

I would like to think that if it came to the crunch, that I wouldn't.

In reality, yes, there are people I believe I could happily kill and feel no guilt over.

In a more lighthearted manner, I do sometimes lie awake and stare at snoring DP and come up with many, many creative ways to end him.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 19/01/2018 21:29

I'm going to against the grain so far.... yes I could without a shadow of a doubt.

There's a list of 4 or 5 (probably 4 I don't despise the 5th one as much) that I could honestly kill & not give a seconds remorse for.

I often hope that the purge was real....

No, I feel terrible if I accidentally step on a snail. I even rescue spiders from the bath and set them free and I’m really not keen on spiders!

sinceyouask · 19/01/2018 22:25

No. I think I could kill someone to protect the dc or dh, but I'm not sure. Even imagining it makes me feel cold and sick.

drinkswineoutofamug · 19/01/2018 22:40

Got it planned out , only joking mr policeman sir!

NellMangel · 19/01/2018 22:50

I once ran a red light and spent the rest of the month googling possible repercussions and trying to navigate Google Street view to see if there was a traffic camera.

I can't imagine how I would function if I'd killed someone.

yellowallpaper · 12/10/2019 13:14

No. I may pay someone else to do the murder if they raped and murdered my daughter though.

Nicola1892 · 15/10/2019 12:27

100% could! There is a couple of people on my purge list 😂

Marshmallow91 · 09/03/2020 02:59

Every single person of sound mind and able body is capable of murder, whether they'd like to think they are or aren't.

If you put someone in the "right" situation, they will do it.

Barbara, the 42 year old pta chair would shoot someone if they were going to rape and murder her 7 year old daughter.

Daniel the 82 year old widow would kill someone with his bare hands if he witnessed someone digging up the grave of his recently deceased wife.

It's all about context. Everyone has a breaking point.
