Are you capable of murder? (Lighthearted)

streetlife70s · 19/01/2018 20:06

Following on from another thread about murderous thoughts, lots of mumsnetters admitted to fantasising about running over abusive exes, strangling mean bosses etc but would never actually do it because of prison, morals etc.

But do any of you think you could actually really truly murder someone you truly despised, if you knew there would be no consequences, 100% no prison or comeback?

Not sure it's the most lighthearted of topics despite the labelling Grin.

But no, in all seriousness, I without doubt could not kill anyone.

annandale · 19/01/2018 20:08

Well, I might not be strong enough to murder by hand now (though I think I would have been 20 years ago if the person involved wasn't a huge bloke) but yes, I am certain I am capable of murder - most likely thinking I was doing them a favour, such as someone who I'd decided was terminally ill or had poor quality of life. Thank God it's not usual to have guns in this country as well.

MeganChips · 19/01/2018 20:10

No, I feel terrible if I accidentally step on a snail. I even rescue spiders from the bath and set them free and I’m really not keen on spiders!

TheQueenOfWands · 19/01/2018 20:12

No. Murdering someone is pointless.

They don't suffer. They're dead. They know nothing.

I just don't get it.

Pancakeflipper · 19/01/2018 20:13

No as I cant live with guilt very well.
Though did once stab a chocolate santa with a teaspoon in a fit of anger.

PrincessoftheSea · 19/01/2018 20:13

I think so when I am on my commute

No but I did once stab the chocolate Santa I bought the ex with a teaspoon in total fury.

Hoppinggreen · 19/01/2018 20:13

Yes, definitely
Not if it was very messy though, I would prefer not to get covered in blood or anything .

Snakesandsnakes · 19/01/2018 20:14

I don't think I would have been before I had my children but I'm fairly sure I would be able to kill to protect them if it was necessary. I feel I should add that I hope it will never be necessary!

Yep. Who do you want bunking off?

sausagerollsrock · 19/01/2018 20:16

Nope. I’d feel way to guilty.

metalmum15 · 19/01/2018 20:17

Pancake you really didn't like that chocolate santa, did you? 😉

There are a couple of people I would happily get rid of, they're complete tossers and no use to society anyway so I wouldn't have any guilt feelings at all.

streetlife70s · 19/01/2018 20:18

@overtheparapet

How much are you charging?

In a very extreme set of circumstances I think most human beings would be capable of it.

Did anyone remember that TV stunt where they tried to persuade 'normal' people to push someone of a building? I think it was called 'the push' and had that magiciany bloke presenting it. I think a fair few people did it under pressure - although obviously the validity of the experiment was fairly dubious, it was interesting.

IceBearRocks · 19/01/2018 20:19

Street ....made me howl!!! Today I ask paediatrician to help with DS lack of sleeping!!! I suggested sledgehammer...he suggested melatonin!!!!!!

ShatnersBassoon · 19/01/2018 20:19

Yes, I have homicidal ideation (light-hearted).

OverTheParapet · 19/01/2018 20:19

@streetlife70s for free. I've got pregnancy rage. Ideally hand to hand murder rather than fannying around with weapons/poison etc Grin

yousignup · 19/01/2018 20:22

I deal with murderers often and I think everyone is capable of murder. Even the meekest mildest of us.

turophile · 19/01/2018 20:29

I definitely think I could given the right circumstances.

Pancakeflipper · 19/01/2018 20:58

Oops ! Had phone internet loss (or so I thought ). At least with a chocolate santa I could eat most the evidence and the body.

helensburgh · 19/01/2018 21:00

No . I couldn't. I couldn't harm anyone in purpose.

I've been badly bullied for years at work due to whistle blowing backfiring and I occassionally fantasise about damaging something she owns but not harm

Kursk · 19/01/2018 21:09

Yes I could. There are several situations I can think of where I would. Preferably long range with a rifle.

I also think that polite society is only a thin veneer. The majority would kill to survive If and when society breaks down, we would be reduced to animal instincts and survival of the fittest.
