Anyone going to watch? I feel that Luke Costello is going to be a major letdown so I’m bracing myself!

Episode 3 was very slow.

I’m struggling with Anna, she’s miscast

Helen is completely miscast for me, although I do love Mairéad Tyers as an actress.
Helen should be elfin, dainty, into her clothes and make up, and an enormous flirt.

Having not read all the books and those I have read, were read years ago, I can’t tell who is miscast but I think Rachel and Claire are great in it.
Mrs Walsh, in the tv series appears cold and detached, definitely not a frazzled Irish Mammy of 5 girls. If you hadn’t read the books or can’t remember what she was like in the books like me then she isn’t miscast iykwim.

I watched two episodes as I was visiting Ireland last week, and as a big MK fan was curious.
I liked it. Luke was obviously "different", I loved Luke in Rachel's Holiday, but I was in my 20s then, now I am kind of ok with Joe (😂) Duffy!

Bringing everything together in one story is difficult as there is too much to cover and some characters have to be background.
I love Claire's character and I like Anna, though she's nothing like book Anna. Helen is all kinds of wrong but I still like her. And Mammy Walsh, who I did not like in the books, I am quite enjoying here.
I think Rachel is excellent and the rehab place is portrayed quite accurately (so far) as it was in the book.

I have to wait for for BBC to pick it up now to watch the rest as I am not desperate enough to try to work out how to VPN.

I think Rachel and Clare are cast well, can’t remember much about Margaret. Anna and Helen are supposed to look similar with Helen being way more confident IIRC and, as PP have said, waifs. The actress playing Helen looks exactly like my friend when she was younger so that’s throwing me.

Thought tonight’s episode was rubbish again. Really boring. And Anna is horrible! Only part I liked was Rachel talking to Josephine about addiction.

Was it just me who didn’t realise that was the series finale? I’ve just seen it mentioned on MK’s Instagram in a clip from a podcast

I thought they were setting it up for a possible 2nd series?

I enjoyed it. It's been years since I read the books so I'm not comparing. I was wondering who was paying the rent on the Rathmines flat while Rachel was in rehab and Anna was at home! I think I have a girl crush on Claire, the actress isn't just pretty she is really charismatic (she got riz!). I liked that Rachel and Anna sounded a bit alike. They could be sisters. The accent inconsistency otherwise annoyed me.

I feel it improved a little as it went on but I agree with pp, that is not mammy walsh! Iirc she is a gossipy, soap watching, nosy, judgey, critical, total weapon of a woman! One thing that really bugged me too was the therapist at the cloisters, her voice, that really slow, deliberate way of speaking drove me bonkers!
