I would like Katie Hannon.
Love her soft Kerry accent, her down to earth vibe.
I think she has filled in well when he is not presenting the show.

Listening to Colm O’ Mongáin on Liveline he’s a really good possibility.
Hearing Philip Boucher Hayes doing Liveline and filling in for Clare Byrne, I think he’s better doing the Clare Byrne gig.
He’s better with current affairs.
Jonathan Healy a Newstalk presenter should be in the running too.

It looks like Kieran Cuddihy according to the Irish Independent, which is owned by Newstalk where he already does the Current Affairs programme, The Hard Shoulder from 4 pm.
So they’d know he’s leaving.
I’ll miss him on the Hard Shoulder. I switch between it, Drivetime on RTE and Matt Cooper on Today FM.

I used to like Kieran Cuddihy but the more I listen to him the more I think he's only suitable for fluff pieces.

His mocking and laughing at people who are gender critical is off putting though I must admit one of my favourite interviews he did was with Ronan Mullen where he got his arse handed to him and lost his rag. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be in agreement with Ronan Mullen but he was spot on.

I knew there was a poster who didn’t like him but couldn’t remember who.
It was you @honeyrider
I haven’t heard that interview but will check it out.
DH not a fan either.
Twill be interesting

It was more recent than that, could have been earlier this year. I'll see if I can find it.

honeyrider · 12/10/2025 16:55

Gosh time flies, it was late 2023, just looking for the interview now.

Thank you @honeyrider
I just saw your post now 💐

I think John Cooke is much better at the moment than what Kieran Cuddihy will ever be..

deeahgwitch · 16/10/2025 15:14

Is John Cooke the guy on this week. I really don’t like his voice. His manner is good though. His voice is very similar, to my ears to the RTE sports broadcaster Brian Carthy’s voice which I also dislike.
It is all so subjective.
I would like either Katie Hannon, Colm O’ Mongáin, Cormac Ó hEadhra or Claire Byrne to present Liveline.
I like Kieran Cuddihy doing Current Affairs.

Yea John is on this week. I think Kieran isn’t as personable and is more suited to current affairs- he lacks a certain empathy for live line so I was very surprised to hear he had got the job.

honeyrider · 16/10/2025 21:15

Cuddihy's only suitable for fluff pieces.

deeahgwitch · 13/11/2025 16:43

I’d prefer Kieran Cuddihy doing the Drivetime Current Affairs programme and Katie Hannon doing Liveline.
Colm O’ Mongáin or Cormac Ó hEadhra would be better than Kieran on Liveline too.
I think they are all great presenters but not all presenters are suited to the Liveline gig.
I miss Clare Byrne at 10.
