I would like Katie Hannon.
Love her soft Kerry accent, her down to earth vibe.
I think she has filled in well when he is not presenting the show.

Anyone else got an opinion ?

Sorry, definitely not Katie! She lets people ramble on far too long so thatvery few topics are coveredand the show drags. She is obviously very into GAA and spends a lot of time talking about it. Other subjects she covered this week (eg something about old records?) took up far too much time and would have been of interestto a pretty limited audience. She needs to take a bit of control and up the pace to keep things moving, cover topics that appeal to a wider audience. She does have a nice voice though

I found this week's shows very dull, not a patch on Joe. Switched on and off through the last couple of days.

Can't think of a replacement though!

I hear what you’re saying @Wishimaywishimight
I see the Irish Independent is putting Anton Savage in the mix.
They would though, as Anton is on Newstalk and guess what !
The Irish Independent and Newstalk are owned by the same company.
So good publicity for the Anton Savage Show.
Anton is a great and imho underrated broadcaster but I’m not sure Liveline would be for him.
He’s more political, serious, highbrow and possibly less empathetic to the listener than Joe or Katie can be.
Just as Liveline wouldn’t be for Pat Kenny.

I think Phillip Boucher Hayes is an underrated broadcaster too but I’m not sure he would suit Liveline full time.

I'm listening to Colm O'Mongain covering for Pat Kenny this morning. I like him a lot - good interviewing style, empathetic, interested etc.

Abhannmor · 24/05/2025 10:48

I love John Creedon's voice and relaxed manner. But maybe he is better suited to night time radio. Ann Coulter? Not sure what she's doing now. Perhaps they could tempt Nuala McGovern back from bbc radio 4. Actually the bould Anton would do a good job if he fancied it.

deeahgwitch · 24/05/2025 10:55

John Creedon has a lovely voice @Abhannmor - a good choice. He’s a good communicator and relaxed as you say.
I like Colm O’ Mongáin also @Wishimaywishimight
I haven’t heard of Ann Coulter.

Marty Morissey would be great. I’ve heard him on days when RTE were pulling in people for cover and he has a great way with people as well as being good fun. He can go beyond GAA as a topic and pull a great interview out of ordinary people.

Aaargh sorry I meant Carol Coleman. Total brain fart there!
Yes Marty Morrisey would be good too I think.

NCsmst · 29/05/2025 19:17

When does he leave for good?

deeahgwitch · 29/05/2025 19:38

I think the end of June

I agree that Katie Hannon would be a good choice. Find her very empathetic. Anton Savage no , don’t think he would like it. And definitely not Carol Coleman , she has not got an ounce of empathy.

deeahgwitch · 17/06/2025 07:10

Clare Byrne ?
I know she tackles the serious questions of the day in her morning show but she comes across very empathetic and down to earth.
However she’s a mum of young children so her mid morning show might suit her better, she’s free in the afternoon.

Can't cope with his voice, or his favourite subject!

deeahgwitch · 19/06/2025 16:09

If it’s Marty Morrissey or Anna (Cork GAA star ) I’m out.

Anyone would be an improvement on Joe Duffy. I can't stand his whiny voice. It was a much better show when Marian Finucane presented it.

deeahgwitch · 19/06/2025 20:07

I think he’s very kind to old ladies on the show.
Particularly “a real Dub old lady”.
It’s like he was brought up to have respect for older women. He really loved and respected his own late mother.
I think he respects women. Which says a lot for his wife and daughter too.
Unlike a certain judge we have commented on, here on Craicnet 🥲🥲🥲

Jonathon Healy - Cork born, broadcasts on Newstalk.
He has a lovely radio voice, intelligent.
Would he have the common touch ?
Would he be interested ?

Do we know who got it? Or when are they telling us?

YourOnMute · 03/07/2025 22:34

I like Katie Hannon and I also like Brendan Courtney.
(I can't stand Ray D'Arcy).

That’s Dr Marty now , thanks to a honorary doctorate from a Longford industrial estate college
