@Marblesbackagain many people are concerned about the laws around abortion being too liberal. Aontu can't change a referendum obviously, but having a party that takes a more conservative approach could help balance things a bit. If I was voting Aontu this would be a positive for me. I know someone upthread said the opposite, everyone is going to have a different view on this.

That's exactly it. People in this country are also pro life, Aontú represents them, they have a party that supports & aligns to their views.

I am pro choice but gender critical, as a mother of girls very concerned about protecting female only sports & female only spaces. Aontú have promised to repeal the Gender Recognition Act which I feel is an extremely important move to protect female rights. They are the only party pledging to do this.

Aontú represents me, my daughters & all other women who do not want to share their private, female only spaces with males. Our comfort, privacy & safety should never be compromised to satisfy an ideology.

"Aontú have promised to repeal the Gender Recognition Act which I feel is an extremely important move to protect female rights. They are the only party pledging to do this."

This isn't going to happen. Come on, there's not even enough candidates to have any impact and the act only enshrined practices that were in place in public services for decades.

I have been reissuing state documents for people changing name and or gender for decades in accordance with public sector policies.

They are playing to the sheep and it seems the herd is here, now there's a surprise.

The sentiment is there which is a great start & the pledge is there in it's manifesto.
Aontú are running 43 candidates one in every constituency.

So every single ballot paper on Friday will have an Aontú candidate for the Gender critical (or any voter who is pro life because they also exist you know @Marblesbackagain )

Lets see what gains they make but there will be an Aontú candidate on every single ballot paper which is excellent going for the party & also for the Gender critical voters who want our female only spaces & sports teams protected for ourselves, our daughters, granddaughters & future granddaughters.

I want to be on the right side of history & will get my chance on Friday. I'm also very lucky to have 4 gender critical independents in my constituency which I will give preferences to after Aontú.

I wish the candidates you are voting for the best of luck @Marblesbackagain as we live in a democracy & can vote any way we choose. It would be undemocratic for me to criticise your choices & besides I don't want to know your choices as it's none of my business.

I reiterate Marbles just for you: Aontú are running a candidate in every constituency, so every single ballot paper in Ireland on Friday will have an Aontú candidate, even yours Marbles😁

That is some achievement from Aontú & great news for the Gender critical voters who will be able to vote for a party who knows that a woman is a biological female 👏

Marblesbackagain · 27/11/2024 00:41

And it is sad to see women vote against the long and hard won health care of abortion.

And it is sad to see women vote against the long and hard won health care of abortion.

I repeat marbles many women are pro-life many others are pro-choice, others may not even have an opinion.
The fact of the matter is the opinion is theirs not yours.

For the pro life voters
in Ireland they now have a party they can align with Aontú & pro life independents. I align with Aontú & many independents as I'm gender critical.
For the pro choice voters there is many parties & Independents to choose from.
Voters will vote as always by who aligns with their issues best. The most important thing now is that the electorate have a choice.
I am very happy going to the polls on Friday knowing I have the option of choosing a party who are fighting hard to protect female only spaces & sports. This is my single issue & I'm delighted to have a party that aligns with me.

After all the fight women have made over the years to get accepted into the Olympics (which was male only), female football teams, GAA teams, rugby teams, basketball teams.. Our own safe private spaces... I think it's very sad that women feel it's acceptable to let males invade them. I for one won't be accepting it which is why I'll be voting for a party which will protect my female spaces & my daughters.

Soupfactory · 27/11/2024 05:13

@Marblesbackagain I am pro choice and voted for repeal and campaigned for it too. But women’s rights is about more than just access to abortion. Interesting that the only ‘women’s right’ a lot of people like you are concerned about is one that also benefits men. The right to safe singles sex spaces, fair access to sport, fair access to women’s networks and scholarships, pay parity, proper medical definitions and medical care etc that benefit women not men don’t seem to concern you or unfortunately any of the main parties.

Trumped · 27/11/2024 07:33

Very, very well said @Soupfactory the absolute gall of some posters on her is absolutely abhorrent. They seem to forget many in this country are pro life, others pro choice & others in the middle /no opinion.

How can one genuinely champion women's rights & healthcare if one actually believe males are entitled to access little girls & female spaces, force pronouns upon us & demand our female rights.
How can one really be a champion of women's rights if they think males can compete in female sports & female sports teams. No wonder so many teenage girls quit sports with this type of shit
What kind of example are these weak women showing their daughters (who will be learning about the suffregates in school?) I don't think the suffregates will give a flying fuck about "be kind" or "inclusivity" they certainly wouldn't stand for males in their female only spaces. I for one will be thinking of all those strong women who formed the history of our state tomorrow & who ensured all us females have a right to vote & I will be giving my gender critical vote to Aontú & like minded independents who have been speaking out so much about gender ideology & the disgraceful, pornograhic sphe programme.

@trumped Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect that you have yours.
However you have said the same thing many many times in this thread and other threads (under many different names). We all know your opinion.
I understand you are very passionate but there is no need to be so agressive or insulting of those with a different opinion. We respect your opinion, so please respect those with a different one.

@Brownwitch I'm not insulting anyone.

Some posters on here are saying that one cannot champion or agree with women's rights if they vote for a party which supports pro life & is also gender critical.
Those posters are forgetting that many people are prolife, many pro choice others simply undecided /no opinion.

I have been insulted many times on this thread but I will not resort to petty blows with you.
Also we had agreed to disagree on this, you apologised, I accepted so respectfully please leave it at that.

It is backwards we are going. The trans hate is now impacting the improvement in women's health that women fought for over decades.i can't understand how a woman can claim in doing x fory daughter while knowing that it includes their daughter loosing an option.

I am just glad it won't come to pass.

Can you elaborate please.. also can you use the word female in your explanation of "women's health" for clarity purposes please?

Also you mention "trans hate".. That is not "hate".. It is preference. It is my right as a female to have the comfort, privacy & security of a safe single sex space. I am not willing to share my space with anyone other than females. As a female my comfort levels should never be compromised that is why I'm voting for a party who is vouching to keep my spaces female only.

I want my private, safe spaces for me & my little girls for females only.
My daughters sports teams & individual sports for female only. I want this protested.

I fully support transgender people lobbying for their own private, safe transgender spaces & their transgender sports teams if they do not feel comfortable using the ones of their birth space. That would be a common sense approach & would also protect female only spaces. Everyone would be happy!

Marblesbackagain · 27/11/2024 09:48

I am not getting into the trans hate usual crap of the hysterical cry of what's a woman?

And stop policing others words, we have a name for that level of control 😄 For an individual who would probably criticise the scientific word cis I find it highly ironic.

The issue to women and trans gender individuals is predators and statistics would indicate that it is males not trans women.

I will leave ye to your round and round because my lived reality is I see women supporting transgender individuals in work place, socially and in my community. Nobody jumps up in the changing rooms they just get on with life.

Thankfully I have confidence that Aontu will amount to only a few trying to drag women's health back to the 1970s.

Not sure how I’m going to vote yet. Supports for disability and for carers is a key issue for me.

However, just wanted to point out that not wanting biological males in women’s sport because you value fairness and safety does not mean you hate trans people.

I wish people would stop saying that.

Supporting single sex spaces too is all about being pro-women, not anti-trans.

The issue to women and trans gender individuals is predators and statistics would indicate that it is males not trans women.

This is not true unfortunately. Stats from the UK (England and Wales) show that trans identifying people have higher rates of sexual offence convictions than men do. (Obviously this still represents a small minority of trans people.)

@Marblesbackagain no problem but when I'm discussing single sex issues eg single sex education, health, sports or rights I refer to sex (male or female for clarity). That's my preference.

There is no hate whatsoever with wanting to protect female spaces & sports. I will not have my comfort, privacy or that of my daughters sacrificed for any reason.

I said above & I repeat I fully support transgender spaces & sports for transgender people. I do hope that a lot more work is done to facilitate those spaces & teams for the transgender community.

Is there any party advocating for transgender spaces & sports teams @Marblesbackagain ?@M@Marblesbackagain? Let me know & I may give them a preference!
Aontú are lobbying very hard for female spaces so they will get by No 1 vote.
Also happy to support a party actively advocating for transgender people to have their own sports & trans spaces.

I'll just leave this here. These are all your own words in just one of your posts earlier this morning:

will give a flying fuck about "be kind" or "inclusivity

disgraceful, pornograhic sphe programme

These type of posts have been relentlessly coming from you for days here.

Marblesbackagain · 27/11/2024 10:24

,@Trumped wow, @ three times .🤣🤣🤣🤣

Why would people be campaigning for a separate space when in general there is acceptance of trans women in spaces for all women.

You don't agree but the reality is most people in real life don't have an issue 🤷‍♀️.

Now I am leaving ye to your @@@@ . Because I have better things to do

So there is no party advocating for transgender spaces & sports teams😥I am very disappointed to hear that, I would have absolutely given that party or independent a preference on my ballot paper.

As Aontú are lobbying very hard for female only spaces they will get my No 1 vote.
As an Aontú candidate will be on every single ballot paper in the country on Friday I'm sure many more people (both male & female) will be voting for the same reasons as me.

💯 Accusing people of hate due to their personal preferences is very serious. I never want my little girls or me to feel vulnerable & uncomfortable in our designated female spaces. And we should never be but in a position to feel like that.

Hate is not a word to be use lightly & thrown around any circumstances

@Brownwitch looking back at this tread I believe you are the one who deserves an apology here. It is clear to see the type of person @Trumped is so that will never be forthcoming. You have been sensible kind and level headed throughout but I think you should leave it now. There is nothing to be gained from trying to have a sensible discussion with people like that.

Abhannmor · 27/11/2024 10:58

Obviously GC women should have set up their own party. Start it in local elections - maybe in Limerick. A FF TD here actually voted against even having a Referendum on abortion. Misogyny is bred in the bone with such people - they are probably not even aware of it and genuinely love their Mammies etc. But now a lot of Independents come across as very disappointed with FFFG and yearn for the version they grew up with. Life was simpler , we were all the same and the awkward squad could generally be relied on to emigrate. I wonder how many of these people who opposed abortion and find gays threatening are actually quite supportive of trans rights? Like the Iranian mullahs - Iran has the 2nd highest number of trans surgeries in the world. After the good old USA which , likewise , is pervaded by religious lunatics who can't accept that we all have distinct personalities and are not all walking stereotypes. But I digress.

Trumped · 27/11/2024 10:58

Nice try @ByOliveSheep but the days of trying to silence & intimidate people with gender critical views are long gone.

ByOliveSheep · 27/11/2024 11:05

Nobody has tried to silence or intimidate you here @Trumped.
Are you accusing people on this thread of doing that?

Interventioninvention · 27/11/2024 11:05

in general there is acceptance of trans women in spaces for all women

Is there really @Marblesbackagain?

A small survey commissioned by the Countess indicated that the majority (62%) wanted single sex toilets available in public spaces.
55% said no to transwomen in women’s sport versus 21% in favour.

I think it’s probable that the majority in Ireland don’t actually align with your views. That doesn’t mean they hate trans people btw.
