I have to say @DeepFriedCreamEgg that every single parent went on the bus ride in the shopping center so there must be something in it!!!
@DirtyGertiefromno30 ahem. Ok. They were for me!
Mum much happier today as car fixed and she even treated me and DD to chips and ice cream for lunch to say thank you for looking after her. Bless her.
@BigSkies2022so sorry family are getting on top of you. I understand very much about being sandwiched and trapped. It's very draining at times.

£71 today on getting sofa and armchair picked up by council so new sofas can be delivered (3 weeks early) very sad to watch them go. Hopefully the cats arriving the next day don't shred them completely on the first viewing.
£4 on getting some photos develop as I've wanted a few from last year's holiday since we came home and today was the day to order them!

Work isn't too bad. The silver lining today was that I'm home and I can make a nice asparagus tart and salad for tea. Not that DD will eat that but I'm leaning toward more French parenting and "I've cooked it, so eat it".

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 27/05/2026 16:40

Just putting this here
In case anyone would enjoy it. I love it but it's not everyones cup of tea l know.

🤣 AHEM indeedy @Frugal25 😂
Aw bless your Mum ❤️. She must feel so relieved the car’s fixed, and it was lovely of her to treat you and DD to chips and ice cream @Frugal25 😊. Getting rid of your old sofas is weirdly emotional 🛋️, but exciting the new ones are coming early! Hopefully the pusscats will spare them 🤞😁. Photos will be lovely l bet you will be pleased with them 👏😁 . Your tea sounds yummy too. I’m fully behind your new French parenting era of I cooked it, so eat it , l don't think your DD will be though 🤞 🇫🇷 🤣

Afternoon all,
£80 on the dot for lidl this morning. £13 posting two birthday presents as I couldn't find time to see the birthday girls. I should plan better and save.
£27.50 on dentist who for the first time ever said "your teeth are so good, we shall drop from 6 months to 9 months". Yippee.

Got sainsburys coming tomorrow with bits I can't get in lidl. OH normally gets for me but we aren't going to sainsburys as much now so did an order. I'm pondering whether to just go in person early Saturday morning as I had to spend a certain amount online which I wouldn't in person..... What would you lovely lot do?

Got two new photos of kittens that arrive on Saturday. They are now vaccinated, microchipped and had the snip. We have food blankets and toys. Bring it on!

Strange how we get attached to objects. I have a favourite spoon that I don't mind constantly dishwashing. I'm not at all precious about crockery or anything and this spoon is nothing special but I always use them 😆.

@Frugal25 afraid I'd just order .. stock up on something if needs be it's worse than cruellas pot outside.

Frugal25 · 28/05/2026 18:19

I completely get the spoon @DeepFriedCreamEgg there is something lovely about eating with a nice spoon.

I'll keep the order and bulk it up! Thank you hun

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 28/05/2026 18:55

@BigSkies2022 how old is ds? I can sympathise as I have a bunch of ‘kids’ - girls and boys - aged between 18-28 and there is always a drama, issue or something that needs me to stop what I’m doing and deal with it, I do feel that they all just need to grow up and start dealing with their own issues ( as I had to) but equally I don’t want to leave them without support and understanding, it’s so difficult.

This week I’ve spent £13 in top up shops in Sainsburys, £6.00 on some clothes pegs as the ones I currently have are leaving kind of indents on The clothes, £50 on a birthday gift for dd boyfriend. oh and some hairspray from Boots but I used my points for that 😊

Today is grocery shopping day and it was £56 in Aldi on a very small amount of shopping and £79 in M&S which includes a lovely bunch of Peonies for me.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine - long may it continue, but maybe not as hot as it has been.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 28/05/2026 22:11

@Johaanah
I'll parcel my share up and send it up/down to you if you like? Because my god it can f to the far side of fville in my opinion.

Frugal25 · 28/05/2026 22:18

Would you like some of OH sun shades @DeepFriedCreamEgg coz I'm done with them and they can f right off. I'll post them xx

Lockin26 · 28/05/2026 22:46

@Frugal25 and @DirtyGertiefromno30 good news about the dentist.

@Johaanah same here with my 20 year old DS. He wants to spread his wings and be independent, so of course doesn't want advice and makes mistakes. Hard age. And I only have the one over 18 - DD (15) is no bother so far!

I have a pasta bowl I am attached to @DeepFriedCreamEgg got it in a car boot sale in 1997. Noone else is allowed to use it, although they probably wouldn't want to!

I've sold three things on Vinted - all from late MIL estate. The money goes into a pot which we use for family meals. I'm meeting an auctioneer next week for one of the items - exciting!

Today was Lidl £43.30, also plants in Lidl / B&M £17.93. Amazon £20.98 for two phone holders for the car - DH wanted one and mine broke! Also got some sweet pea seeds for the new greenhouse (which is still in the box 😂).

Best get some sleep as the Fit Bot App has morphed into the new Google Health App - it's not as pleasant and keeps sending passive aggressive comments about my bad sleeping habits 😂

Lockin26 · 28/05/2026 22:50

*fit bit! 🤭

Frugal25 · 29/05/2026 16:18

Has your fit bit stopped being rude now @Lockin26?!

£4 on a sarnie from m&s which I knew would.happen. I didn't take lunch with me as I was coming home at lunch and as always promised myself to get lunch when home. Knowing full well id grab something for the train.

New sofas have arrived!!! DD is playing in the big box one came in. Just in time for the kittens to arrive tomorrow and destroy. Fun times.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 29/05/2026 21:57

Omg the sofas have come yay@Frugal25 so pleased for you sweetheart ❤️👏👏👏.
Aw thank you @Lockin26 l have a red pasta bowl that l use for everything, it's out of bounds for the fam 😂.
Well done on the Vinted sales too 🤗.
@Johaanah truth be told, the very hot weather drove the residents absolutely nuts in my Mums care home . They were so nasty and the language they were using it was unbelievable. These are really lovely people but they were like devils . They were so nasty they asked the Dr who looks after them all and she told the staff the heating affects them badly . I expect it's from being overheated . My Mum was nasty to us , told us to piss off and said we were spiteful to her , spitting her tablets out and instead of drinking her drinks through the straw she was blowing bubbles in it . We just gave her fluid replacement sachets to make sure she wasn't dehydrated and sure enough she was lovely today . So no l don't want it back you can have it all 😂.
Got to lol at your fit bit @Lockin26😂
Been to Home Bargains £60.80 later 😱
Hardly anything to show for it 🤨.

Lockin26 · 29/05/2026 23:50

I can't help but smile at your DM blowing bubbles in her drink @DirtyGertiefromno30 the naughty residents! Hope once it cools down, they all settle🙏

We haven't had the heat as bad here since Tuesday (NE). DS returned from the Lake District today, him and a friend camping up a mountain. He's quite sun burned - I did give him factor 30 and aloe vera but both got lost along with his phone charger. I was so pleased he was back (phone has been dead for 2 days) I got him off to bed with two paninis, calamine lotion and water.

Costco £85 - was supposed to be soft drinks and water but other things jumped in my trolley.
£197 Hollister for DDs birthday present. That's her main summer clothing too.
£6.40 Starbucks
£25.43 Asda / George - also DDs birthday.

It's been an expensive year so far - tomorrow will organise Monzo pots and create a spreadsheet for additional costs so I can track where it's been going.

Lockin26 · 29/05/2026 23:55

@Frugal25 the fit bit app morphed into the Google Health App overnight this week. Main gripe is that it's stricter about sleep and doesn't praise / gently prod for exercise. Fit Bit was encouraging me 😊

Oh no, that’s so sad, the poor residents and I really feel for the staff too, it must have been so difficult for everyone. It was unbearably hot last week, but seems to have cooled down quite a bit now - I’m bracing myself for next week as the weather is predicted to take a turn here and rain every day from Monday. I guess that these last few days will be our summer.

@Lockin26 - sounds like your Ds had a great time in the lakes, that’s exactly what mine would do with the sunscreen and charger - they are all the same, but he wouldn’t have even considered that we might be worried about him. Funnily enough my youngest dd’s whole ward is from Hollister, if you order enough online they make you a Gold rewards member and give you free postage for a year, combine that with the reward vouchers and sales and you can get some real bargains.

HP87 · 30/05/2026 08:37

Hi everyone, popping back because I finally feel like I've got a grip on things! My car has cost us a fortune since Jan (and been in the garage at the most annoying times). I'd had some money in a cars account that we'd starting in Jan (along with all out other pots) that covered some of the earlier costs, but then got a £2,100 bill in April so unfortunately that was a credit card job. But nothing else has gone on the credit card. Had a good May though and hoping to now continue that. We're really lowering our spending to work on cleating our debt and second mortgage to free up some monthly spending and saving/investing/over pay main mortgage cash.

DeepFriedCreamEgg · 30/05/2026 11:38

Rain! I am so excited for rain next week!
I'm sweating from my eyebrows this isn't attractive 😆
