Sending love and hugs @NursieBernard xx

Love and hugs @NursieBernard

ChipshopPickledEgg · 16/02/2026 10:57

Awe Nurse thinking of you. It'll be up there with one of the hardest days of your life but may love and light carry you through this time.

The nap ... That's the mini eggs to my pickled egg.

needastrongone · 16/02/2026 11:23

Thinking of you @NursieBernard. It was my father’s funeral last week on Monday, but he was 94 and that is the circle of life, the way things should be after a long life well lived and that is comforting. It’s easier to accept. So much harder in your situation. I am sending warm thoughts and love to you.

You are going to look marvellous @chimichangaz!

@Lockin26 it would be a LOT more using a solicitor re POA I promise! It’s a Very Important Thing to do though.

Work are refunding my £330 debit for the breakdown cover they have. A few direct debits have gone out. I need to order some granite cleaner later but that’s it re spends.

Hoping to get out for a little walk later.

Have a great day folks, and again, hope the day goes as well as these things can reasonably do @NursieBernard

Frugal25 · 16/02/2026 14:26

Been to m&s and spent a voucher on clothes for DD. Topped up with £11.20 of my money. Then £20.04 on petrol.
Back to play with brothers cats whilst he is away and sort out wardrobe as it's a mess.
Sold 5 things on vinted. Shall post tomorrow.
Wish the weather would make up it's mind...

Frugal25 · 16/02/2026 14:28

Thought of you just now @ChipshopPickledEgg. Had a cuppa and then fell asleep on the sofa with DD with me. Was delicious. Probably should be doing something more productive with the half term but we are happy.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 16/02/2026 18:45

That sounds a lovely treat @Frugal25 from what you've said your DD sounds around the same age as mine give or take and those moments are rare and precious. Mine asked for a cuddle tonight when I was in the middle of about 20 tasks but everything gets dropped for that request.

Frugal25 · 16/02/2026 19:09

My DD has just turned 4 😁 stats school this September which is breaking my heart as we shall lose the mummy and LL days we have. We'll just have weekends and holidays like everyone else. How old is your lovely one?
Mine did the same! "Come and sit with me mummy". Dinner half done, trying to book up swimming for the week, trying to hoover.... It all got left!
Such precious moments that will be precious memories in a few years. You sound such an amazing mummy xx

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 16/02/2026 19:13

Spends £7.50 Waitrose for cheese and eggs for pancake day tomorrow 😋 😁
Mum was good there today we spent 3 hours with her because she was so good , l didn't want to leave her but she was getting tired 😊.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 16/02/2026 19:22

Ahhh bless you Frugal I do love the idea of your mummy and LL days.
My little girl is almost four.
She's at pre school now which is part of the local school and so has the little school uniform and everything. It's cute yet emotional... Get lots of tissues ready! She is thriving though.

Lockin26 · 16/02/2026 19:37

@Frugal25 agree about the weather. It was lovely at lunchtime (well the sun was out for a bit) then it tipped down on the drive home.

@needastrongone agree it's really needed. We did my DMs via Gov.uk and probate for PIL fine so should manage this. Hoping for it to be paid then signed off by the end of the month.

Your LOs sound absolutely gorgeous @ChipshopPickledEgg and @Frugal25 enjoy this precious time.

Pleased your DM was on good form @DirtyGertiefromno30

£3.99 lunch from Boots..meal deal price increase 3 weeks ago. Still the cheapest within a quick walk from work although will price up Greggs too. Need the Greggs app downloaded.
£2.14 co-op

RumBananaSundae · 16/02/2026 20:21

Spent £2 in Sainsbury. Was heading for a no spend the went for an end of workday walk and ended up there.

@NursieBernard been thinking of you today. I hope it went as well as it could. Hugs to you and many warm thoughts.

Glad you got the refund @needastrongone.

Sounds like a lovely day today @Frugal25. Happy half term.

Always like to hear your mum is well @DirtyGertiefromno30. You’re so good to her (and lots of others).

Nothing exciting here. Can’t believe the week has just started. Exhausted already. Glad I’m off tomorrow.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 16/02/2026 21:08

Sounds like another beautiful moment was made between the Pumpkin family today ❤️

chimichangaz · 16/02/2026 22:03

Aw @ChipshopPickledEgg and @Frugal25 I remember when my DS was 4 and starting school 🥺 TBH if he asked me for a cuddle now (he’s nearly 25) I would still drop everything for it!!

Good news on the refund @needastrongone and I do indeed look marvellous after my pedicure and wax 🤣🤣

Glad to hear your mum is on top form @DirtyGertiefromno30 and impressed you know any of Daniel O’Donnells songs! And thanks for the pancake reminder too 🥞

Hope today has gone as you hoped @NursieBernard - I was thinking of you earlier.

Wasnt planning any spends today but had a look round Matalan when I returned the skirt and spent £15 (£30
less the refund) on a linen top for my holiday and a pair of cream cord trousers that were £10 in their sale. Them tonight have bought the WiFi package for my cruise for me and my friend - one of our excursions had been cancelled and with that refund plus various discounts it worked out very reasonable at £150 between us. When I say reasonable, I mean reasonable for a cruise line. I have to force myself not to compare the price of 7 days cruise ship WiFi with the £50 a month I pay at home……🤦🏻‍♀️

Frugal25 · 16/02/2026 22:25

Oohhh I love a Matalan bargain @chimichangazand it made me smile to think of you dropping everything for a lovely hug from a bigger little one!! 🤗 They are always precious, no matter the age and size.
Oohhh you are so lovely @DirtyGertiefromno30 and so glad you had a good day with nana pumpkin.
Wish I lived closer to you @ChipshopPickledEggand we could do play dates (and live closer to all on here to do lovely cups of tea and gossips)

Bring on pancake day. I am ready for it!!! So glad you get tomorrow off @RumBananaSundae, a day off and pancakes, can't ask for more than that if you ask me

I hope you and your family get some restful sleep tonight after today @NursieBernard.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 16/02/2026 22:46

@chimichangaz
We're always our mother's children aren't we sometimes a mum hug is just the best medicine ❤️ and I bet it feels about 5 minutes since he was four?

Johaanah · 16/02/2026 23:27

Hey guys!

@NursieBernard hope today went as well as it could for you and your family ❤️

@Frugal25 and @ChipshopPickledEgg such lovely times for you both with you daughters, I’ve said before that I miss those days of having small ones, they are hard when you are living them but so precious.

I think the dress is going back, I ordered two sizes, in September I wore a dress from the same brand and it fitted perfectly - this one is two sizes bigger and very snug! The next size was sold out and anyway I’m convincing myself that the sizing is messed up, I admit I’ve gained some weight over the winter months but not three dress sizes! I’m currently thinking ‘well I am planning on losing the extra pounds I’ve gained’ but in reality I can’t guarantee that so it’s not worth holding onto the dress.

Sorry - bit of a ramble there.

DD is home from uni for reading week - which is actually a fortnight, so it’s nice to catch up and have her home. NSD today as planned, nothing much happening. Dinner was steak for Dh and I and salmon fillet for dd2 everyone else was out, planning meals is tricky when you have teens/ young adults as I never know who will be home.

More rain here today and lots of flooding, weather looks pretty bad all week.

yoursweetpotatoesarebland · 17/02/2026 00:01

So sorry to hear your sad news @NursieBernard, sending gentle hugs your way and hope you’re doing as okay as you can be.

Ive been enjoying catching up on the thread and everyone’s news - love hearing about the little ones! It feels like an absolute lifetime ago even though my youngest is only 11! Been feeling a bit rubbish the last few weeks so finally bit the bullet and went for a blood test today, wondering if I’m a bit anaemic.

I was very sad to check Asda and there were NO valentines meal deals! 😥 what a disappointment! Had a nice valentine’s anyway at the opera with friends. Relatively low cost too as was our county opera society so was £20 for the ticket and £23 for some drinks before / after. I went with somewhat low expectations but it was excellent!

Sunday was £8.60 in Tesco on a few groceries and £4 on coffee with a friend and today was a NSD! My kids are all on holiday with their dad this week though so less opportunities and requests for spending 😆

chimichangaz · 17/02/2026 06:56

@ChipshopPickledEgg a mum hug is very rare for me!! My son used to be very cuddly when he was little but not so much as he grew up and now, so I take any crumbs he throws my way 🤣🤣 And yes, it feels like only yesterday that he was little ❤️

My mum was very non demonstrative and I am very much the other way 😊

@Johaanah sounds like the sizing is definitely out and good idea not to hang onto it. That was why I took the sequin skirt back - I will only wear it at Christmas and it’s two sizes bigger than I want to be. I figured if I haven’t lost any weight by the end of the year I can always look on Vinted!!

I’ve decided to focus on my weight when I’m back from my cruise. My training is going well so I need to get the other pieces into place (diet, alcohol, water, sleep) especially protein. It’s so much harder to lose weight at this age!!

NursieBernard · 17/02/2026 08:36

Thank you all for your lovely messages, I'm sat here having a little cry with the warmth and kindness. It was an awful day but a beautiful service, the room was full of people and love. He was such a kind and generous man, he will be missed by so many.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 17/02/2026 10:11

Good for you getting the WiFi package for your cruise . It sounds fantastic 😍.
I get you re how hard it is to lose weight as we get older , protein is definitely the way forward 💪.
@Frugal25 Aw thank you sweetheart the feeling is mutual ❤️. l wish we all lived near each other too , wouldn't that be just lovely 😍
@Johaanah well done on sending the dress back , there is no point keeping it you are right 😊. Have a lovely fortnight with your Dd bless you . I can remember being so happy to have my girl home for the holidays and the huge catch up on the washing 🤣.
Shame there weren't any Valentine's meals left for you @yoursweetpotatoesarebland
But going to the Opera is very nice indeed 😊

I wonder if you have looked at an E-sim? Perhaps the red bull network.
If your a fairly/average user it would possibly only cost you £15/£30 for the week.
