That sounds nice today Gertie.

DW just picked up a yellow sticker leg of lamb from Asda for £3.50! It’s still in date till the 11th so a bargain. Also crème fraiche for dinner and mini eggs for after.

Spent the day in pjs mostly snoozing on the sofa with the dogs. Feels like a wasted day but also what I needed. I’m still in recovery and I have a busy week ahead.

Frugal25 · 05/04/2026 19:00

Oh my phone just lost my post and it was massive!!!

Oh my phone just lost my post and it was massive!!!

Hate it when that happens, poor you!

Frugal25 · 05/04/2026 19:10

Love a chilled day @MuddlingLong. Glad you had that, needed. Xx
@DirtyGertiefromno30im so glad your DH was there to help and support. Yay that your lovely mum is so much better I bet today was so nice just chatting and having a pamper.
@ChipshopPickledEgg ah the ice cream medicine. Delicious! Your gif made me laugh out loud!
@chimichangazenjoy tomorrow and what clothes did you buy?
@BigSkies2022happy birthday and anniversary to your lovely parents. The home sounds like it outdid itself for your dad! Must look up that restaurant, sounds up my street.
@Lockin26so glad your lovely mum is better and at home. Sorry about your brother, the poor minions. What did they do to deserve that??

I fell off the wagon. Had a spend on vinted. About £40 on two frozen dresses for DD and a music box like I had when little. May keep for Christmas as nearly new. Also bought a pair of shoes that I obviously desperately needed as I only have about 80 pairs. And a cake stand.

Then did a whoosh delivery this morning to get OH some lovely wine and chocolate for Easter. I didn't think we were swapping gifts but he surprised me so I hope my fast delivery made him smile.

Just made a guyere and asparagus tart with roasted veg for dinner for the family. Went down very well and leftovers for tomorrow. Also made the chocolate cottage cheese dessert I think @BigSkies2022
Mentioned a while back. Just letting food go down and I'll serve it up. Have put it in little dishes I've had for 17 years and never used. Excited!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/04/2026 19:40

Have spent about £25 on random groceries today and yesterday. For some reason I didn’t use my gift cards so it was actual spending.

Simnel muffins sound awesome @Lockin26. Sorry about your puffin trip being cancelled. Minions seem such jolly souls it does feel a bit defiling.

Glad your mum is doing better @DirtyGertiefromno30. I’m sorry she’s not well.

I laughed at your miracle post @ChipshopPickledEgg. Glad she seems better and sorry you’ve now caught the bugs.

Bugger to lost posts @Frugal25. I hate it when that happens.

Quiet weekend so far. Had a nice day with my friend yesterday. Did some life admin today. Made some halva and it’s good. Have meal planned for next week with some of my yellow stickers from yesterday. Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow. Was thinking about going into town but I’m sure that would involve me spending money so I’m not sure I will.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend so far.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/04/2026 19:45

Ah thank you so much @RumBananaSundae ❤️😍 it's seems she has a UTI every 6 weeks or sobless her . What l can't get over is how badly UTI's affect elderly people. My poor Mum was awful with it . Glad you had a lovely day with your friend yesterday. Well done on the yellow stickers yesterday and the meal planning .
Yummy Halva 😋👏🤗

A day on the sofa always feels like a wasted day but it's definitely not sometimes our bodies are telling us if we don't stop by choice it'll stop us by force.

Lockin26 · 05/04/2026 20:48

Thanks for your nice comments about the simnel muffins and the support for the Minions. He's a disgrace really.

UTIs are awful in the elderly @DirtyGertiefromno30 pleased you had quality time with your DM today. UTIs are dreadful and so common in the elderly - can knock them sideways.

Well done to DW @MuddlingLong on the yellow stickered lamb! Also hope the Charity shop volunteering goes well - I know it either started recently or starts soon!

I will go and look up Halva @RumBananaSundae

Hope everyone had a nice Easter Sunday. Made ham hock, mash and veg, DC cleared their plates as they'd both had too much sugar so I think the healthy meal was welcomed. Made a broccoli and gorgonzola cheese soup for supper. Ate too much chocolate. Renewed my car insurance - about the same price, was a bit cheaper but then I added DH. Means I can take his bigger car when needed and he can take mine to work. Sold some toy figures on Vinted £5. Soup ingredients from coop was £4.72.

chimichangaz · 05/04/2026 21:55

@Frugal25 two pairs of jeans, a pack of long sleeve tops, a v neck t shirt, platform trainers, silver trainers (for abba voyage!!) all from Next to definitely keep. Two dresses from Roman that I will keep. Still deciding about a pair of ankle cowboy boots (I am definitely being influenced by Yellowstone….!). Everything else I’m taking is stuff from my wardrobe.

I had my colour and shape analysis about a year ago and I am now trying to put it into practice - it’s amazing how the right colours and shape make a huge difference!!

Oh and a chocolate brown crossover bag from Vinted - might have a little gander on there for a blazer….. 😊

Vinorosso74 · 06/04/2026 10:12

Just checking in as I've been busy. Lots of cat sitting which helps the £s
@DirtyGertiefromno30 sorry your mum's not been well again.
This week has mostly been annual stuff:-cat had his annual vet visit £90, car service (we have a plan for that) and boiler service.
Went out with a friend on Friday £50. Whipsnade zoo yesterday (we have membership) £23 on hot drinks and cakes.
This week should be low spend. Going to work out some cheap dinners and use stuff up.

needastrongone · 06/04/2026 11:45

Morning.

I am surfacing from the repercussions of my stupid idea that is was a good idea to host Easter Sunday for many, and cook everything from scratch, with a couple of tricky dietary requirements thrown in!! Bit tired today and looking forward to an easy day with this lovely weather.

@life- nice jug, and I’m a big fan of the table cloth too!

@RumBananaSundae - I confess ashamedly to not knowing what Halva was and googling it - looks delicious!

@MuddlingLong - how was the Mario film?

Glad your DD is okay @ChipshopPickledEgg.

Really pleased too that your DM seems to be on the mend @DirtyGertiefromno30, she’s had a tough few months for sure.

Gorgonzola soup sounds lush @Lockin26, I’m going to try that!

@BigSkies2022 A 67 year marriage is quite extraordinary!! I had to read that twice. I know you’ve said previously the last few years have been very tricky but that is still a long old stretch.

Spends
£8 Amazon
Food bill has been high due to entertaining, but will hopefully be recouped this week as we’ve loads left and plenty in for the week. No Gorgonzola though…. there probably soon will be….

lifelongfrugaleer · 06/04/2026 12:01

Wow that was brave need. The gull cloth is wipe clean from dunhelm Anna in all the time. I got my Sorrento fish one out for Easter

pleased you got mum spirited gertie

gws chips

I’ll have to google halva. Sounds Turkish ?

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 06/04/2026 17:10

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Beautiful day here sunny and blue skies 🌞
Hope your DD is much better @ChipshopPickledEgg💐
Aw thank you so much @Lockin26 she was like a different person yesterday. Oh ham hock and mash one of my favourite meals, delicious 😋.
Well done on the Vinted sales too 👏🤗
Your clothes all sound gorgeous @chimichangaz ❤️ not seen Yellowstone but l do like Kevin Costner so it's on my Radar 😁
AHH thank you re my Mum@Vinorosso74 glad you have had a good income from the cat sitting 👏🤗

Frugal25 · 06/04/2026 17:58

Oh @chimichangaz that all sounds amazing! I went travelling once and met an amazing lady who had also done the colour analysis and wore clothes that were recommended and she just looked fabulous all the time. I should do it. I bet you look amazing 😍

I bet you hosted brilliantly @needastrongone
And everyone had a lovely time. Hope today was restful.

A NSD for me. Spent time with my family swapping chocolate and playing games in the garden. Then home to do some gardening.
So I have news.
My beautiful cat sadly left me 18 months ago and my heart shattered. I vowed to never have another as I couldn't handle the heartache (she was my fourth cat and each one took a chunk when they left). OH doesn't really do pets anyway. He surprised me earlier by saying "we should get one as DD is an only child and it would be good for her" DD absolutely loves cats and misses our cat very much, asking almost daily for her to come back, so we asked her what she would call another cat "kitty pie". So I've sent off a form to ask the rehoming centre if they have anything suitable for us and I'll go from there. Trying not to think about it too much or my heart will hurt. But it will be very good for DD bless her. She loves animals so much and it would be another being to play with.

BigSkies2022 · 06/04/2026 18:05

Another one feeling tired today, although I can’t point to elaborate hosting duties as a reason. Today we drove to Ightam Mote and did a lovely walk - only four miles but a fair bit of climbing, so I am feeling it in my legs and will stretch out tonight. Dozed on the sofa in the sunshine back at home and I have made good headway with my book group book for tomorrow. Roast pork and spiced plums for dinner tonight- already cooked yesterday, so very easy.

I collect my ice cream maker tomorrow. I am feeling rather too well fed after an extremely enjoyable Easter weekend, so I will attempt more walking, less eating this week!

ooh, this weather. What a great start to April!

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 06/04/2026 18:06

@needastrongone aw thank you re my Mum. l know everyones beloveds are previous to them as Mum is to me ❤️.
Well done on hosting everyone else, no wonder you are tired today but it sounds as if everyone had a lovely time 👏🤗. Hope the missing Gorgonzola situation is remedied very quickly 🤣.
@lifelongfrugaleer mutual love for the gull tablecloth you have gorgeous taste ❤️👏 thank you re my Mum too ❤️

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 06/04/2026 18:46

Oh @BigSkies2022 l have never heard it that place l am on the hunt . Good luck with the ice cream machine tomorrow 👏🤗
@Frugal25Kitty Pie is such a cute name ❤️. I know it’s hard after losing your last cat, but it’ll be amazing for DD and for you too. Fingers crossed the rehoming centre has the perfect little puss cat sitting and waiting for you all ❤️

RumBananaSundae · 06/04/2026 19:07

No spend day for me today.

How is your mum doing @DirtyGertiefromno30?

Blimey @BigSkies2022 I missed the 67 year marriage. That’s an achievement.

Hope you managed an easy day today @needastrongone.

Persian (I think) @lifelongfrugaleer. Then different places have variations. I used tahini and threw some dried cherries in for fun.

Thinking of you with the cat plans @Frugal25. I’m sure you’ll give a furry one a great home.

Another one feeling tired today. No sure why. I’ve had quite a quiet weekend. Managed about 40 minutes at the gym this morning before giving up. Not sure how the weekend has gone so quickly. Was considering buying a top for France next week but couldn’t drag myself into town so I saved the money on not buying that.

Lockin26 · 06/04/2026 19:20

Hats off to those of who hosted yesterday. I'm really tired too and it was just us I cooked for. DS went out at 10pm last night as some 20 year olds do on a bank holiday weekend - I woke at 3.45am and lay awake until 6am until he got safely home. He was in a snooker hall with a mate then they got a taxi home - of course I imagined much worse than that 😂

£68 nails for me and DD, plus brow tint for DD. Easter treat. Was in a Monzo pot so within budget.
£7.47 Lidl
£9.94 Coop

Frugal25 · 06/04/2026 20:24

Oh I adore igham mote @BigSkies2022 I went there just before Christmas and it's my new favourite place. The robins are very tame and sit on the table waiting for you to share bits with them!

Think you're very brave @Lockin26. I can't imagine DD going out and coming back at that time.... Well done.

Did the halva turn out well @RumBananaSundae? Well done on the gym. That's a lot if I'm allowed an opinion!!

Shall keep you updated on Kitty Pie situation.

MuddlingLong · 06/04/2026 21:05

@Frugal25 I'm quietly excited for you and how lovely that it was DHs idea! That makes it all the better somehow. We can't replace our missed pets but just opening our hearts and homes to another is brave.

We went to Costco today and bought DS a £300 tv. It's £370 everywhere else so a bargain. He's paying back half over the next 3 weeks pocket money. Also spent £170 on everything else, which is about normal, included £40 on a pair of Levis for DS.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/04/2026 08:14

Fingers crossed for kittie pie
that’s a long night but teens don’t feel it
in tired from fatigue and broken sleep. Missing the gym routine. I’m like an old lady
i cooked for the outlaws. Urgh

Good luck with the ice cream.

I’m going to pootle in the garden today weeding. Dmam is picking up some bark and compost for me on Thurs. God I miss driving

Went to a Vivienne Westwood display at a museum. Dd got in free as a student and Dh as my carer. £25 for one annual pass instead of £75 for 3

ArmDimples · 07/04/2026 09:48

I lost a post yesterday, am losing the will! I access mn on Safari browser, is the app more reliable?

I can’t remember what I wrote.

Except- i also did a double take at 67 years wed, that’s amazing Big. PILs are at 55 and many more to come I hope.

id be more relaxed with a theoretical young adult dc being out all night if they were not living at home but if they were I’d defo be listening for the door!

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend. Another one tired here from entertaining and cooking everything from scratch. Including the ice cream and hot cross buns, lol. Yesterday we should have done lots of gardening as we don’t often get a free day and lovely weather, but DH has a terrible cold and his snoring has been keeping me awake, so all in all we were too tired to do much, and the DC also have coughs from the same lurgy. I cast on a new knitting project instead and that and cooking a lasagne was all that I could face. I’ve been off for most of the last week but with the Dc it hasn’t been very restful!

Back at work today. Not excited about it as the kids are still off so it’s a juggle, it will be easier next week.

ArmDimples · 07/04/2026 09:52

I would really miss driving, Life! Even though our mileage is low I am sure I don’t appreciate how much I rely on it
