Frugal25 · 04/03/2026 18:24

Oh @DirtyGertiefromno30 your poor mummy and you. Sending all my love and a big big hug. What a stressful and emotional few days for you. No need to reply to us. We just rumble along xxx

@ChipshopPickledEggi was thinking of you earlier. I was looking at my porridge.... And then tucked into the bagels instead!!! I'll eat mine if you eat yours....

Holidaysandchocolate · 04/03/2026 19:00

Big hugs to you gertie, hope you get a bit of a rest too now as it so emotional with the ups and downs

Glad to hear the tiara got a big outing out of the house armdimples

Had a very un-fun trip to the dentist with DD2 today. Filling has now been refilled. Trying to work out how DH can take her next time 😂 She cried before he even opened her mouth and all the way home.

I like porridge, but maybe only once every couple of weeks when we run out of bagels.

Lockin26 · 04/03/2026 19:14

@DirtyGertiefromno30 what a few days for you. Must've been a relief when your DM rallied and is comfortable again.

Welcome @FrugalFlorence

£23 Starbucks. Met a friend then DD and her friend joined us to get a lift home so cost a little more than normal.

£50.99 new trainers for DH

£11.34 Lidl cancelled out by £13.50 refund from Lidl.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 04/03/2026 20:32

@Frugal25
"Do as I say not as I do"
Springs to mind 😆 now be a pal come collect mine 😆

RumBananaSundae · 04/03/2026 20:43

£80 topping up my travelcard.

Welcome @FrugalFlorence.

How is it only hump day @Frugal25? It feels like it should be Friday.

So sorry about your mum @DirtyGertiefromno30. I do hope she is as well as she can be. Bug hugs for you both. And some lovely daffodils.

Had a fantastic day with my friend today. If anyone is thinking about the Samurai exhibition go. It was better than I expecting. All the theatre talk is making me want to go.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 04/03/2026 20:45

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/03/2026 17:48

Sorry l have been MIA.
Mum not been well the past 2 days and l have stayed with her all day yesterday and today .
Mum wasn't at all well there again today , refusing to eat or drink for me, in a lot of pain and hitting the staff and shouting when they had to see to her so they called the Drs who has upped her Oramorph and her Morphine patch . I was expecting her to really go downhill when she had the extra Morphine and Oramorph but au contraire she's rallied big time , drank over a litre of fluids for me and ate a whole yogurt ,a big banana and 3 milk tray chocs . I have been there over 7 hrs with her but she told us to go and when she tells us that it's time to go because she's tired 🤗.
Honestly l have been through the mire the past 2 days with her. I know she's not got a lot longer .l do realise that but as long as she is out of pain and kept comfy that's all l want ❤️
NSD today and yesterday but we are going to have a takeaway tonight . That's about £30 . Hope everyone is ok l am so sorry l haven't replied to anyone but the internet hasn't been working for me up the home so l couldn't post or read.
I am fine now honestly what a rollercoaster these parents have us on ❤️

Sending love and light to you and nana pumpkin x

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 04/03/2026 20:57

Aw thank you all so much, it's so kind of you all .l am so grateful to you bless you all ❤️
It's exhausting to be honest, Chinese was yummy we really enjoyed it 😋.
Hope everyone is ok 🤗 and thank you again you are all so amazing 😍

OP posts:
Frugal25 · 05/03/2026 07:45

Ooohhhh so glad the Chinese was delicious 😋 and well deserved @DirtyGertiefromno30. If you see your lovely mummy give her a hug from all of us.
@ChipshopPickledEgg, ha ha ha ok ok. I'll come and get your porridge. Tbh, I've well and truly fallen off the lent wagon and the amount of snacks I'm eating .. I should eat porridge to try and outweigh the crisps.

@RumBananaSundae I'm going to look at this exhibition. It sounds amazing . So glad you had a lovely time with your friend. A lovely day for it too.
Nearly Friday although I agree, feels like Friday doesn't it. Sigh. Dragging slowly to the finish line this week.

@Holidaysandchocolate oh your poor DD. The dentist is scary as it is without any treatment. Hope she is feeling better today and had lots of cuddles. Xx

£111 on ocado today. Can't get to Lidl due to waiting for plasterer today so did online and it's way more money (for me) but I did also buy bird food and wine for the weekend. I need to cut back for the next two weeks to make up for the extra on this food shop as I've been doing well up until now. May put those bits on vinted today and try and help.

Swimming today but it's a roll over from last week when DD wasn't well and we couldn't go so technically free.
Gymnastics later and that's paid monthly so technically free.
Coffee with neighbour who has put her house up for sale. I'm devastated. They are such a lovely couple and have been a rock since I moved in 5 years ago. I'm trying not to think about it, we are so close, they come to DD birthday every year and we do coffee a lot but her husband has been getting worse with his illness and they need more support and a smaller house. I'll have to think of a beautiful gift for them when the time comes to move. And flowers for the new neighbor just as they did for me when I was new.

NursieBernard · 05/03/2026 08:15

Sending lots of love to you and your mum @DirtyGertiefromno30

NursieBernard · 05/03/2026 08:22

Plodding along here, return to work was difficult physically (my central nervous system was in overdrive) and emotionally. Luckily I had annual leave already booked for the rest of the week, so no more work until Monday.

@lifelongfrugaleer I hope it gets easier for you.

@Lockin26 thanks for the heads up on Easter eggs, I managed to pick up 2 small mini egg ones for DS3 today at £1 each.

@Frugal25 sorry to hear about the neighbours plans to move, hopefully they won't move too far away.

Hugs to those that need them

needastrongone · 05/03/2026 11:52

Morning.

Sending lots of kind thoughts to you @DirtyGertiefromno30, it really isn’t an easy time at all. It’s times like this a takeout is just the right choice.

One step in front of the other @NursieBernard , it’s all you can do. The fog will eventually feel a little less thick, but it’s hard to say when.

Sorry, I’ve lost track of the thread this week. I feel like all my spending has been front loaded to the beginning of the month this month which is a bit disconcerting to me. Hoping to get in the garden this afternoon and clear some leaves from the side of the house/garden while DH watches cricket.

Will catch up fully hopefully too.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/03/2026 13:59

Afternoon everyone 🤗
Raining here now 🙄
Bought 2 books from the charity shop for a pound and that was it . Nothing else tempted me tbh.
My sister sent me a photo of my Mum all cuddled up in a blanket asleep. She looked very rested . I think that is all we can hope for tbh .
It seems as if it's just a matter of time . The extra Morphine helps the pain but makes her sedated it's a cycle . Just have to go with the flow . We had a wonderful afternoon with her yesterday so l must remember that .
Been to Costco ,God everything has gone up so much ! Even in there !
£106 Costco on Almond milk, Tofu, drinks x 4, Turkey bacon , Blueberries, kitchen wipes, a cooked chicken and some choc chips shortbread 😋.
Lunch for the 3 of us £8 .
How they do it for that l don't know.
Thank you re Mum @needastrongone 🤗❤️
Hope you managed to get out in the garden 😊.
AHH thank you @NursieBernard 🤗
Bless you sweetheart you have enough on your plate to think of me . Hope you are ok just look after yourself as best you can 💐.
I will give my Mum a huge hug and tell her everyone is thinking of her thank you so much @Frugal25❤️.
Oh l am so sorry your neighbours are selling up . They sound lovely, l sobhope you all keep in touch when they move . Fingers crossed your new neighbours will be just as lovely 😍

I'm so glad your mum is resting and comfy @DirtyGertiefromno30. Everything has gone up hasn't it. Sigh
Well done @NursieBernard. First day back done. You did amazing and so glad you have the rest of the week off.
Plasterer didn't turn up. He forgot and will come tomorrow. When I'm not here. So my mum is coming to the rescue to let him in and stay whilst I'm in London working. Argh. I changed my whole day for him to be here today. Rars.
£11 in the cafe at swimming as a treat. As we have a members card (which I didn't know I had) we got 10% off too. Lovely.
Neighbours are moving a ten minute walk away so will def keep in touch. I still go for dinner and drinks with my last lot of neighbors tbh! I just collect people.
The new neighbour im told is my age, single with a cute dog. So hoping to make a new friend when she moves in.
Been in the garden today and finally after 5 years moved my magnolia to be front and centre stage rather than tucked behind the pergola. It stunning and I can see it now. Also moved back out of the garage the sundial that OH put away as he was worried DD would pull it on top of herself. I'm hoping I've hidden it enough neither of them will find it. Nice to be able to see it again although tucked where it is, it doesn't tell the time!

Right. Time to get ready for this very expensive shop.

DirtyGertiefromno30 · 05/03/2026 17:01

That's so disappointing about the plasterer @Frugal25🙄
Nevermind good old Mum stepping in 👏😊.
Glad you can keep in touch with your neighbours , we collected them as well 😁.
Well done on moving the Sun dial and the Magnolia . I absolutely love Magnolias they are so beautiful ❤️

Bought a ticket for an event in Paris next month (€~70). I wanted to go but now I have the ticket I’m not sure. I got some tickets in a theatre lottery for next week so that was £20. A stamp at the Post Office £1.70 (that I didn’t need so am not amused). Spent a bit more than I was expecting today.

Glad your Chinese was good @DirtyGertiefromno30. Thank you for The Importance of being Earnest link. I do like that play so will try and remember to watch it.

How is your daughter today @Holidaysandchocolate?

Sorry about your neighbour moving @Frugal25. I hope the new lady is a good neighbour. I always worry when new people are moving in. It’s good the current neighbours are only going 10 minutes away. Fingers crossed the plasterer arrives tomorrow.

Hope everyone is making it through the week.

BigSkies2022 · 06/03/2026 09:58

£74 on an Amazon order- mix of household and personal stuff, all rather dull but necessary. £15 in Waitrose yesterday while l sas running errands for mum- lint roller, chocolate, a tin of wine to put in the ragu. I will not be tempted to swing the tinned wine ! Mum’s hospital appointment was cancelled but i went along anyway to run errands, rechange her curtains and generally catch up.

Today I will book my ESTA and sort travel insurance for our trip. DH tells me I should book museum visits ahead of time as I can’t just bowl up on the day. So I’ll make a start on that too.

ChipshopPickledEgg · 06/03/2026 10:49

@BigSkies2022
I'm guessing new York?
Would definitely book as far as you can in advance

Vinorosso74 · 06/03/2026 13:30

I'm shattered. Two weeks invigilating done but throw in some early starts for before work cat sits, I am pooped!
I've had another low spend week so all good. I did spend £30 in Boots £10 Tuesday but good savings and one thing was nearly run out. DD wants to go shopping at the weekend but with her birthday and Xmas money/vouchers. She's had mocks all week so I will treat her to lunch out.
I was looking at my credit cards and reckon I should be able to clear them in the next 3 months.

BigSkies2022 · 06/03/2026 13:31

Washington - the belly of the beast! Yes, I will crack on today. In the meantime, £3 on postage, £7 in Lidl, about to drop off at the dry cleaners. Then I will do my stuff!

Frugal25 · 06/03/2026 14:58

Oh well done on credit cards @Vinorosso74!!! Amazing 😍
Plasterer turned up and done a brilliant job.
£30 on tickets to see DD at her gymnastics grading.
Getting a takeaway tonight. We never get a takeaway so a rare treat. OH is paying
Happy Friday all
