Very low spend couple of days.

£12 AdBlue but that's expenses.

Will be back to post fully later.

She seems fine. More irritable than usual.

no ds hasn’t had it. He’s somehow swerved it every time it’s done the rounds at school.

fingers crossed it’ll be ok.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/07/2023 07:17

Alfie ❤ derail away if that's what you need

Hope dd isn't to itchy em. Oat baths were our saviour. And no clothes to rub against the spots.

Great photo need

We have some upstairs windows and my what a difference. Need a roofer next too.
Not frugal at all and frankly skint.

Dh car got a chip now. New windscreen

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 13/07/2023 09:27

Blimey Alfie that all sounds really difficult, I'm not surprised you're finding it hard.

Great pic need, The Detectorists is lovely, I might watch it again 😁

Oh no em! The worse thing about the pox is being under house arrest as you can't take them anywhere until they are scabbed up 🙁

I met a friend for coffee Ystd £5 on coffee and cake.

Spent £35 in B&q on more decorating stuff, plus a few household things and I picked up a couple of plants in the 'half dead half price' section. Hoping I can revive them!

Another £35 in Sainsbury's, this included £10 on a gift for sil, the rest on some food bits mostly for dd.

Cracking on with painting the kitchen today, it's looking good so far.

Colliewobblerr23 · 13/07/2023 12:54

Sending you so much love alfie try to find some time for self care. Whatever works for you 🤍

NSD for me today. I'm trying to find a job nearer home to save on fuel costs..and the job market here is dire. All the jobs seem to be rural which isn't ideal. Floody, unlit, country roads with zoomy trucks hurtling towards you refusing to budge aside or reverse. It's awful in the Autumn and Winter.

I'd rather walk or catch the bus to work. I live near 1000s of businesses and none are advertising work. (I've contacted a fair few too!)

Colliewobblerr23 · 13/07/2023 12:56

girlie I might have a look in the "half dead half price" section. I'm desperate for a hydrangea! No matter how small. I love them!

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 13/07/2023 13:06

There were quite a few hydrangeas in my b&q collie half price so you might get lucky! My hydrangea died during the heatwave last year 🙁

WeightoftheWorld · 13/07/2023 21:57

Em Oh no, I hope your DD is soon better and that DS somehow manages to swerve it again! Our DD is vaccinated against it, been meaning to vaccinate DS too but just still never gotten around to it.

Life What a pain about the car windscreen.

Sorry only really caught up this past page.

Spendy day today eurgh I feel guilty writing it down now...
£5 church playgroup for me, DD, and DS.
£45.10 on lunch in local independent cafe AARGH. So that was for me, DD, DS, my friend, and her 2 DDs. She's spent a lot more money on us/kids overall over the past couple of yrs as she's so generous so really I'm just repaying her a bit of that anyway. She then insisted on buying me and DD cake after once she'd realised I'd paid for us too. She is a very kind and generous person so don't begrudge paying, but I'm not used to spending that much money these days so it feels weird writing it down.

BigSkies2022 · 13/07/2023 22:15

I have a couple of Limelight hydrangeas in pots, but I'm not sure they are very happy there - the flower heads don't seem to be developing very well this year, and it's only their third. I think I might find a new home for them in the garden rethink. I do like hydrangeas, and want to get more.

My Ganni dress arrived and I am very happy - will need to get it shortened, but I think it will be one of those that just keep on giving, year after year.

Popped into a Turkish greengrocers' today - came out with a tin of mango pulp, some feta, a bar of dark chocolate with pistachios and a yen for, if not an actual jar, of something called 'nutmeg jam'.

DS rang to say he's coming home for a few days next week. This is lovely, but also means that he's not getting many shifts at the bar, so will have to look for an additional job.

northender · 14/07/2023 07:49

Sorry to hear what a tough time you've had Alfie
Another Detectorists fan here, it's wonderful.
Hope DD recovers quickly Em
Brittany was utterly fabulous, super relaxing, beautiful. After a busy week in Devon, just what we needed & much less money spent too. We've brought back a good haul of wine, cider & cheese so alcohol has been put away for now.
Since we've been back we've done a £70 shop but nothing else and are trying to eat up where we can. Boiler service yesterday £80.
Have had a bit of a wobble with DD the last couple of days but she's ok now. She's been in Salzburg for a few days, Munich today, Frankfurt tonight until Sunday, Brussels then home Tuesday. It's peaceful without her but will be good to have her back.

Colliewobblerr23 · 14/07/2023 08:15

Definitely plan on a trip to B&Q this weekend.

The weather is so atrocious and gloomy here. Its like Winter. I can't believe its July! The humidity in the house was over 80% so we had to put heating on for 15 mins to help. Thankfully the humidity fell to about 70% but that's still VERY high. Dehumidifier is always on. No wet clothes indoors. Nothing like that.

I'm feeling very worried about jobs and things ☹️

LSD I need to buy a bottle of wine as a gift

needastrongoneagain · 14/07/2023 08:19

Gosh @Alfiemoon1 that sounds incredibly tough. Vent and share as much as you like. ❤️

Started Detectorists. Absolutely love it! We've watched about 5 episodes already 🙃

Glad you enjoyed Brittany @northender. Nice haul of goodies!

Lovely to have such a generous friend @WeightoftheWorld

Spends low this week, although the weekly shop to do this afternoon. DF's partner had a bad fall yesterday so I'll have to check in on them too, unless my DB's (they will, hopefully). Never rains eh?!

£30 Amazon, puzzles for DH to retrain the brain, so to speak.

It's weird isn't it @Colliewobblerr23, the weather! Humid but grim too!

big we also had a near punch up in our Aldi recently! The gentleman in question has form for it apparently.
how scary north
and very glad he is ok. DD and DS1 both away on separate trips this week (though only in UK) and I’ve been feeling surprisingly bereft with a near empty house.
Big changes afoot at my work that are unsettling us all really. Some upset about it today, hopefully getting resolved but more resolving to do tomorrow. I couldn’t sleep well last night so hoping for better tonight.
having fairly low spend days but about to do big holiday spends. I’ve opened a chase account as recommended by Martin Lewis for spending abroad - hoping now it will arrive in time for the holiday next Fri.
My Costco card is about to run out and I’m debating whether another one is worth it (£33 a year). I only get a few things there really but with a family of 5 I’m wedded to their giant packs of loo roll!

Lurked but never posted on this before so hello. I was thinking about giving up my Costco card but found a family member who wanted one. I put them on as an additional card holder, which is free, and they spend enough to make to worth upgrading to Executive membership. Last year's executive reward was £120 so even after paying the higher membership I still made £50. The main cards in your name so you get the money. It's worth asking around.

Happierwithouthim · 14/07/2023 09:36

sounds like a great win iworkformeanies

Spends yesterday
60c parking
€15 ds haircut, it's €12 but the barber is so good with him and persuading him to cut his hair has become much easier now since I found this barber
€31.46 in smyths but he'd €29 built up in pocket money
€1 towards whatever dd picked up there
€3.70 on a chicken fillet and a drink for ds, I'd frozen meat the day before not knowing bf would be joining us for dinner

Happierwithouthim · 14/07/2023 09:42

Three generations of cats disappeared from my place while I was away, I had someone in to feed them every day, I just thought they'd gone walkabout but yesterday I discovered a substantial amount of blood in our shed so I'm afraid the outlook isn't as good now.

No water coming into house this morning, so must investigate that this evening, maybe call plumber, he did tell me year before last that the pump might need replacing before long Sad $$$

€18 on calgon tablets on Amazon prime day, my filter was horrendous so hoping this will help & care for washing machine too.

weight big spends are shocking when they're infrequent but it shows you've got a good awareness of your budget.

collie wow that's serious humidity

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 14/07/2023 17:13

Hello everyone Smile
I have been mia l'm afraid, l had to get new phone 😱
OMG l hate getting a new phone everything goes wrong 😪
Anyway with the help of my Dd2 l am getting there but l am realising how hard technology is to deal with when you are getting older .
Hope everyone is ok must apologise for not being here .
Spends today
£7 for a new phone cover
£99 for a new phone Hmm
Tesco £25
Aldi £35
Petrol £65 it was 133.9 per litre in Sainsburys cheapest for miles !

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 14/07/2023 17:20

Phone was Motorola E 30 £99 from Argos l always have Motorola l find the excellent tbf Smile
it's very good but takes a lot of work getting it up and running Hmm

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/07/2023 17:54

Oh no happier

Urgh new phone set up

BigSkies2022 · 14/07/2023 17:54

happier, that seems very grim, how upsetting. I'm sorry.

DH and I took delivery of a tonne of hardcore this morning, and barrowed it all into the garden. Tomorrow we'll get up early to avoid the traffic jams and pick up more supplies near Wimbledon, and then, I think, we'll be ready to start laying, digging, spreading and tamping...... God. Of course, it has started to rain after weeks of dry weather. DS can turn his hand to a bit of manual labour, methinks!

Colliewobblerr23 · 14/07/2023 17:59

Happier oh how awful :(

Well it has rained all day here. And I'm feeling very low. I have quite bad SAD that usually kicks off in October but I fear 2023s SAD season has started already! Took a Vitamin D tablet and felt a bit better.

Costco sounds amazing! We don't have one down here.

I'd love a new phone. Mine is a lovely relatively new Samsung but something about it makes me a little irritable.

Being a parent has exhausted me this week!

£10.50 in Sainsburys on wine and things. Less than expected

Decafflatteplease · 14/07/2023 18:26

Oh my goodness @Happierwithouthim so sorry to hear this that sounds awful. Do you think it was a person? Or another cat?

I also hate new phones @TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans I never switch when my contract is up always wait until they really need replacing as it's such a pain!

Low spend day today....£4 on chocolate and sweets for the DC tonight as it's Friday film night. I should have got them other day in the super market but forgot so had to pay more in the corner shop. Annoying but hey ho!

@Colliewobblerr23 I take high strength vitamin d all year round . Don't know if it does any good mind you 🙄

Timetoswitch · 14/07/2023 20:46

Heaved it down here today, especially on the school run 🙄 It feels like autumn!

Returned a summer dress today that I wasn’t sure about, but the weather today helped made the decision! Swopped for a summer top, that can always be worn with a cardy.

One more week of school left for the DC here. We are dragging ourselves in each day at the moment.

Ah mrs I feel for you with the new phone.

🙁 happier poor cats

Timetoswitch · 14/07/2023 20:47

I also bought DD an age 13 hoody, but she didn’t like it. I tried it on and it just about fits me 🤣

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/07/2023 21:07

Another £35 in Wickes 🙈 have spent about £100 on various decorating stuff this week, that's for three rooms though so not too bad? I've done the bathroom today, gone for a green colour which I'm really pleased with.

So tired though 😮‍💨

kessiebird · 15/07/2023 08:30

happier so sorry to read that about your cats.

alfie that's so much to deal with, vent away

collie and others agree the weather is just awful for July. Regular downpours here, no end in sight either.

Hello mrs pleased your phone is sorted!

big love the sound of your new dress

Will add my spends later. We are basically headed to the summer holidays a bit short 😕 so I definitely need to keep posting here.
