I applied for this and for an email last week saying I am eligible, just wondered if anyone has been paid this or if people who have received it previously have any idea of timescale? I know it's says up to 28th Feb but curious as to whether or not it may actually take that long!

She said she had to pay back warm home discount so is said she should give them £1 a week.

softpilllow · 19/12/2022 17:48

Are you England & Wales or Scotland?
They have different schemes.

I'm in Scotland.

It seems the criteria have changed this year - it's really frustrating. I've been eligible for many years due to being on certain low income benefits. This year, they've changed it and have brought other criteria into it - property size or something. I did the self assessment online but because my property isn't listed as having an EPC (energy performance certificate) it said I was unlikely to get it this year.

I've called my housing association to ask about this as I can see that other properties in the block have EPCs. Am awaiting a call back.

It doesn't make sense - my energy costs are higher than ever (like most people) and yet this year they decide I'm not eligible.

Loachworks · 19/12/2022 19:35

BG- received mine today. I didn't apply but had a letter a couple of weeks ago saying I would receive it shortly.

My property hasn't got a EPC, and I didn't expect to get the allowance this year as its only 25 years old.
But I received a letter today confirming I will get the allowance.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 19/12/2022 21:06

@Chasingsquirrels - that's good news! There's hope then 😁

Annabella91 · 19/12/2022 21:07

It's absolutely pathetic isn't it we got it past few years but doesn't look we will next year we could have done with it as well our bills aren't cheap either the government has it all wrong.

Annabella91 · 19/12/2022 21:10

It's sorry if I came across rude in my reply it wasn't my intention.

Anono2022 · 19/12/2022 21:30

@Annabella91 same. I was entitled to the cost of living payment and have had the WHD every year (part of the broader group - lone parent, tax credits) but this year I'm not eligible.

Annabella91 · 19/12/2022 21:49

The new criteria is pathetic makes no sense does it I think it should be given to people with young children and sick people I'm trying to keep the house warm for our kids it's costing an absolute fortune.

Annabella91 · 19/12/2022 21:54

Im not alone on mat leave partner working and we only get child tax credits and spend around £300 a month on gas and electric.

Anono2022 · 19/12/2022 22:04

I've just done the eligibility checker and I could laugh. I'm not eligible because of my homes energy rating. Absolute joke

bloodyeverlastinghell · 19/12/2022 22:10

I think in Scotland you have to apply but in England they are doing it automatically. I applied as soon as it opened got email confirmation of application but nothing since

NewBootsAndRanty · 19/12/2022 22:10

How have they worked that out?

Anono2022 · 19/12/2022 22:30

This is what it says;

This is based on the type of property you lived in on 21 August 2022 according to your Energy Performance Certificate.

The reality is it is based on an annual income.of 14,500, one income only household, primary age child awaiting diagnosis' (declined dla), CTC and WTC.

I've had it every year without fail. Now it's needed more than ever I'm no longer eligible.

As for my energy efficient home, it's Still costing me triple what it has done on lesser usage.

It all makes me feel shit.

Anono2022 · 19/12/2022 22:38

Just seen my EPC has expired. Another cost

Crazymadchickenlady · 19/12/2022 22:51

Our EPC has expired but we still got it.

whatsthestory123 · 20/12/2022 01:16

i dont have an ECP but still got a letter saying i should be entitled to

Anono2022 · 20/12/2022 07:18

The information was taken from the government website checking my eligibility. I'm going to call them

Annabella91 · 20/12/2022 11:13

Basically it's only for single parents or if you meet a pathetic house Size EPC rule
We had it for the past few years and then nothing this year!!

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 20/12/2022 12:35

I spoke to housing association and the EPC ran out in 2017, it seems. The person I spoke to ran through some questions with me and said I wasn't eligible for the WHD. Seemed very definite.

Crazymadchickenlady · 20/12/2022 14:42

What is the house size rule? I haven’t found anywhere that actually states what it is.

MistletoeMouse · 20/12/2022 15:06

This is so shit.

I'm disabled (affected by both physical disabilities and Autism) Single parent. Primary age child. Work part time from home. Earning 7k per year. Get PIP (standard daily) plus some TC & CTC. Live in a tiny bungalow that I'm struggling to heat because the windows are ancient. Still says not eligible to to type of property.

They really have got this so wrong this year haven't they? like everything else this government have touched in the last 12 years
