dementedpixie · 17/09/2022 19:38

Have had my personalised email giving my prices from October. They are making the standing charge 4% lower than the Energy Price Guarantee so my prices will be:

Electricity:
49.021p standing charge and 33.763p kwh

Gas:
26.841p standing charge and 10.277p kwh

Anyone else had any info yet?

OP posts:
KweenieBeanz · 18/09/2022 07:57

These all sound too high for the price cap? I'd read that the £2500 price cap as per new govt rules was more like 35p per kilowatt hour for elec and 10p per kilowatt hour for gas?

RelativePitch · 18/09/2022 07:58

British Gas

Gas- 10.237p per kWh
Standing charge-28.48 p

Electricity-33.018p per kWh
Standing charge- 45.769p

Currently paying £160DD. Have £375 in credit. Have been told I will be -£340 at end of plan unless I up my DD.

KweenieBeanz · 18/09/2022 07:58

Sorry ignore my post people's standing charges were throwing me off! Yes OP's numbers look about right :-)

That’s what ours are - per info from Octopus last night.

I've heard nothing from Octopus despite emailing them. Have been fixed since July on a higher rate than the SVR and I've stuck with it because at first it looked like the gov reductions might reduce my fixed rate to lower than the cap.

However the gov webpage has been updated to say that there will be a 'floor' for fixed tariffs so they can't go lower than 34p for elec and 10.3p for gas. So I may as well be on the SVR!

They'll be contacting you this week

Absolutely nothing from bulb despite being told an email would be arriving last Friday.

I'm debating on jumping ship to Octopus.

NewBootsAndRanty · 20/09/2022 20:53

If you do jump ship and want to split £100, have a cheeky referral code @userxx

ifonly4 · 21/09/2022 15:30

userxx I had my missile from Bulb yesterday.

Electricity unit rate from 27.865p to 33.726p per kWh and electricity standing charge from 48.127p to 49.145p per day.

Gas unit rate from 7.367p to 10.334p per kWh and standing charge from 27.219p to 28.484p per day.

They're going to review monthly payments next month.

I'm debating on jumping ship to Octopus.

I've had mine a couple of days ago - I wouldn't jump ship, octopus is more expensive than bulb - elec standing charge alone is 6p more per day with octopus.

Sestriere · 23/09/2022 06:40

I’ve had an email from octopus too. What I wasn’t impressed with is that they are reducing my monthly payment by the amount of the government payment so on,y the same gets credited to the bill. I want to uplift soi have the bill covered! Which means I’m going to have to mess with the DD again.

QuietYou · 23/09/2022 07:03

OVO simpler energy plan
Electric
Standing charge- 48.59p
Per KWH- 35.97p

Gas
Standing charge- 28.48p
KWH- 10.32p

Currently saying we'll be over £2k in credit by next year so can reduce our DD but I'm going to keep it high until the price rises start.

MyDucksInARow · 23/09/2022 07:05

We're increasing our electricity unit rate from 27.838p to 33.763p per kWh and electricity standing charge from 49.646p to 50.665p per day. - this is with Bulb.

I live in the sticks and don’t have gas. I have domestic heating oil and apparently we are getting a whopping £100 towards it. A drop in the ocean considering my yearly oil costs have gone from £1200 to £3500. Add that to the £2160 I’ll be paying in electric and the £2500 is laughable.

TheDogsMother · 23/09/2022 07:20

EON Next

Your new prices from 1 October 2022
Standing charge 44.413p, unit charge 34.226p

Also live in the sticks and use LPG for heating which has doubled in price over the last 7 years

redsky21 · 23/09/2022 07:23

@QuietYou where do you find this info on Ovo? I haven't had anything from them

Vickim03 · 23/09/2022 07:34

E on next here. Had email yesterday to say our dd will go up in line with price rises but then said they’d apply the gov money so works our our dd will actually be £15 less. I’ve not seen the email myself, hubby told me this morning. I’m guessing they’ve applied the £66 to our dd

queenrollo · 23/09/2022 08:10

Ecotricity.

Standing charge - 45.67
Unit rate per kWh - 38.44

Darcy101 · 23/09/2022 08:21

LeoEisor · 17/09/2022 20:52

Im with EDF

New rates
Electricity (starts 01 October 2022)
Unit rate: 35.05p per kWh
Standing charge: 38.94p per day

Gas (starts 01 October 2022)
Unit rate: 10.309p per kWh
Standing charge: 28.48p per da

I’m with Bulb and exactly the same.

OneFrenchEgg · 23/09/2022 09:27

Oh I'm going to check.
We currently pay

Standing 41.39 (E) 27.22 (G)
Rate 29.48 (E) 7.32 (G)

OneFrenchEgg · 23/09/2022 09:31

Ok I don't understand. The prices are with / without government support and gas will be going up by £640 annually (estimated) but electricity only £170. I thought electricity was the problem.
Now I don't know understand what the unit costs are going to be.

EllisActon · 23/09/2022 09:33

Still waiting!

QuietYou · 23/09/2022 10:07

@redsky21
They sent an email with the new rates, on Wednesday. The estimated amount based on our DD is on the website.

Whatapalavarrr · 23/09/2022 10:12

We have an economy 7 meter so have cheaper electricity overnight, although we don't have storage heaters.

Our overnight electricity has actually gone down from 20p to 15p 😮

I was already trying to set things to run overnight so have resolved to always have dishwasher etc running overnight. I'm sure someone will come on to talk about the fire risk, but our appliances are all pretty new and it's a massive saving compared to the daytime rate 🤷🏻‍♀️
