TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 10/08/2022 13:44

We had an air fryer but found the fan blowing the air/steam out caused terrible condensation in the house on the windows and the walls Hmm this was the air fryers in their infancy though so l don't know if this is still a problem or if it was just a problem for us Hmm knowing our luck it was just us Smile
Spent 7 in Tesco on yellow stickers Smile
2 x Pizza Express Chicken & Peppadew Pepper Pizza 290g £1.50 each &
2 x Tesco finest Bourbon pulled beef & creamy mash ready meals for £2 each instead of £4 never tried them before but they look nice Smile
Have a lovely day everyone Smile

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/08/2022 14:19

Been a busy few days. Dd2 started school Monday... she really enjoyed it. The school has a school buddy system so a 4th grader is school friend with the 0th grader so dd2 has spent loads of time with the kindest and most caring 10 year old girl...
Have had 2 builders out for offers on renovation of the house, now waiting for the offers.
Groceries was 60 £ and besides that's nothing spendt.
My parents have booked us all a holiday to gran canaria for Christmas. Never been there so really looking forward to that.

What a lovely idea. I hope she's enjoying school x

Just catching up with the thread.

@CurlsandCurves thanks for that info. Thinking about it I think that has happened in the past that one DC measurered a size but ended up with a half size bigger. Maybe I'll just put my big girl pants on and book us an appointment but it will be around £150 😱

Haemorrhaging money here at the moment all essentials but still.

DH got a sort of bonus which we stuck in the savings but we've had to transfer it back to spend which is disappointing.

Hot here today we spent the afternoon in town. Bought lunch from Asda just sandwiches and they have a meal deal on where If you buy 3 lunch items you get the cheapest free eg sandwich drink crisps but I worked out you can get 3 sandwiches and get one free so that was a good find.

Library this afternoon for my younger ones while my teens went looking round the shops so that was a free activity (the library not the shops obvs! But teens have own money

Anyone elses children doing the library summer reading challenge we do it every year.

I also had to pick up a prescription for myself. I've spent £50 in a month on prescriptions but should get a refund once my exemption card comes fingers crossed!

Hope everyone ok

Fearofawelshplanet · 10/08/2022 16:53

@ mines- exactly, frugal and a bit of exercise, I return to work and will be starting teacher training this September so want the garden straight for the winter as I will be both financially and time poor come October, hope you sorted your garden out too 😀

Fearofawelshplanet · 10/08/2022 16:57

15.00 on q photo bday cake for my twins 16th on Sunday, 1 pound on a dog bone. Washed the windows, scrubbed the skirting boards, watched oart your life out to find new storage solutions ideas. Reading Stacey Solomon tap to tidy, it's a😁 good book. Hope your all enjoying a lovely day.

minesalargered · 10/08/2022 17:08

You are putting the rest of us to shame fear!!

Managed a NSD, a kind bloke was leaving the hospital car park with loads of time left on his ticket and gave us it.

Considering buying the cheap Lidl air fryer to see what it's like. The offer starts tomorrow.

minesalargered · 10/08/2022 17:08

And good luck with the return! And studying!

BigSkies2022 · 10/08/2022 17:30

£95 in Sainsbury's. £95!!! Bought several easy ready-cook items for DS (Itsu Katsu curry, Charlie Bigham chicken tikka masala, stuffed tortelloni, sort of thing) as he will be hunkered down doing university work for the next week or so and needs easy food to prepare himself at lunchtimes. Or I find myself becoming the toastie-chef/slave, and it's not a role I fancy.

£30 (near as) in pharmacy. Prescriptions should be done for a while though.

Fear, I should be emulating you and clearing the garage/cellar/coat cupboard. I will make a start tomorrow. But what I really want to do is persuade DH and DS to dump their responsibilities and drive with me and Ddog to West Wittering beach. But there appears to have been an outbreak of virtue in the family.

Vietnamese style steak salad for dinner tonight. Not much cooking per se, but lots of chopping.

Socathe · 10/08/2022 18:16

Evening all

WFH today and had quite a productive day of work plus housework. Washed the bedding, changed the bed, did another wash load, put loads of clean clothes away. Also after work managed to get the skirting boards done in our spare room before getting DS from nursery! So feel accomplished today.

Spends £17 Screwfix for no more nails, caulk and filler for doing the spare room. £16 pets at home, needed to get our dog a Halti and a new ball flinger thing. £19 Dunelm online as ordered the blanket hoodie I've been eyeing up, was going to wait until winter but we're going camping next weekend and I get cold at night in the tent so thought it would be handy for that. Bit of a spendy day but nothing frivolous really.

lifelongfrugaleer · 10/08/2022 18:36

All the beds washed and just about dry. Kinda thinking of cancelling leave tomorrow and getting a day back when it’s not too hot.

TheNewlmprovedMrsMadEvans · 10/08/2022 18:38

Pizza isn't as nice as it is made out to be but the pulled Beef Bourbon meal is lovely Smile
Have given up buying any Charlie Bingham meals they are delicious but so expensive even on the yellow stickers Hmm
Fear it's an excellent book it has a bit of everything in it Smile

orangetriangle · 10/08/2022 21:56

Socathe thank you I am liking the teddy socks from ther as well !!

Taytocrisps · 10/08/2022 22:57

It's verrry hot here. We had our highest August temperature in almost 20 years today (29.2 degrees). They're saying it might hit 30 degrees tomorrow 🌞. I bought a mint Aero earlier and left it in my bag instead of putting it in the fridge like I'd planned. It was a soggy mess. But I ate it anyway 🐷.

The main news here today is that our government is considering measures to offset the cost of inflation. There's talk about welfare increases and adjustments to tax bands and credits but they haven't made a final decision yet. So still speculation really. But it bodes well for September 27th (Budget Day).

I posted about losing Child Benefit for DD at the weekend. As it happens, I got a letter to say that they're stopping Child Benefit for DD (I'd already figured that out). But if she goes to college in September, I can get the college to fill out/stamp a form and then I'll get backdated CB for July and August. And they'll continue to pay it until she turns 18. So that's good news. I've put the form in a very safe place.

I was putting out my compost bin earlier and a bat swooped out of the darkness. I really like bats so I was delighted to see it. DCat 2 was watching it closely.

Right, I'd better get DCats in and head to bed. I tempt them in with cat treats. There's been a stray cat hanging around the last two nights. We've christened him/her Stalker Cat.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/08/2022 07:24

We often get bats, lovely creatures

drains being done today ££&&

marthasmum · 11/08/2022 09:04

Great news on the child benefit tayto and it sounds like your government is more switched on than ours. Glad people will get some help.

xogossipgirlxo · 11/08/2022 10:13

Morning. Hoping everyone is coping in these temperatures. I like summer, but one heatwave was enough for me. I won't even make it to work and my ass is already sweaty LOL

Today:
£3 birthday gift contribution at work
£15 direct debit for mobile

Planned grocery shopping. I was hoping we will last till next week, but we're out of things for breakfast and fruit. Hoping not to spend more than £50 though.

Fearofawelshplanet · 11/08/2022 14:18

@mines - I'm avoiding the fact I go back to work next week 😀blackpill lido today with a friend and her beautiful children. Took pack up and got a lift, so great fun and free! Nsd.....in the garden this afternoon....swansea looks beautiful today! 😍

Fearofawelshplanet · 11/08/2022 14:22

@mines- thank you, I'm very nervous but will try my best. @big Skies, I wasjust sick of everyone asking where everything was all the time so declutterwd and repurchased our existing storage better. We rent though so it's difficult.
