Survived work. And had my 34 wk appointment with the midwife. All good so far. Back in 2 weeks. Eeek.

Lamb curry snd cous cous for dinner. Yum.

We’ve watched some tv and dh is now sanding something in the garage. Instead of putting the dinner things in the dishwasher. Ffs. That’s twice this week he’s said he’ll do dinner clean up and twice he hasn’t.

Payday tomorrow. Yippee!!!!

Have to buy DMs birthday present from dsis and me. She wants to get her an iPad. So I’m off to the apple store. Spendy day

maddenlightfoot · 21/06/2019 07:30

I'm feeling all the Fri-yays today! Stepped out into the garden to hang the washing out for the first time in weeks and not only is it beautifully sunny, there were also three hot air balloons going over. I'm taking that as a sign of a good day 😊

ememem84 · 21/06/2019 07:52

Payday!!!! Wooooooo!!!!

Yesterday my bank account had the grand sum of £1.40. But I didn’t hit my overdraft. Woooo.

Standing orders have all been taken and I’ve now for £287 to last the month. This is split across 2 accounts. £50 in Lloyd’s and £237 Hsbc. The Lloyd’s is my “lunch money” so if I need to buy lunch or snacks I can use this. Hsbc is for “everything else” usually I’d include waxing and nails in this but as I’m not getting that done until after baby I’ll have a bit more to play with.

Cc balance is £600. So need to pay a chunk of that off too.

Have managed a savings account with Lloyd’s of £4600 ish since September. Not bad going. A bit of that was my bonus from work though. And I’ll probably use whatever’s in there in September to make a payment into my pension.

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/06/2019 08:15

Happy longest day. And it's sunny here...

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 21/06/2019 08:53

Happy longest day.

Well done to Girliedd on good reports and getting through the MRI

I am having my off day, my foot has been put down. Just hoping no one rings me on my own phone now - I’ve hidden the work one.

Ironing done, washing on, dishwasher unloaded and reloaded. Just working myself up to cleaning the bathroom then I think I’m going to ikea. After clearing out and taking over h’s wardrobe the bedroom is feeling a bit better to me so I’m thinking new colourful rug and perhaps some other bits to really mark the difference.

£3 yesterday for ds’s activity. £3 triple shot coffee (I so needed it and I don’t keep coffee at work). £5 milk and lunch. Not great spend wise but it got me through the day

lifelongfrugaleer · 21/06/2019 18:10

Hope you got to IKEA wolf and no one rang you
Nsd today

Cagliostro · 21/06/2019 18:20

Spends so far, a few quid on drinks and pudding at the local. DH and I actually got to leave the house together without kids for the first time since before Cagletini arrived. Had to wait till baby was asleep and then left Mum to it.

A spot of redecoration sounds like just the thing wolf! But did you get meatballs?!

maddenlightfoot · 21/06/2019 18:25

Love ikea! What did you go for? Sounds like a most marvellous way to spend your frugalled money and great to mark the fresh start.

We're at a service station after being mega-stuck in traffic so have spent £££ on biscuits and monster munch to keep the kids quiet 🙄

Girliefriendlikescake · 21/06/2019 18:37

Beautiful weather at last for the longest day, might go for a little walk in a bit.

Am happy it's Friday!!

Plan this wend is to see toy story 4 tomorrow afternoon am going to the cheaper cinema £12 for both of us. Then going out for dinner with dd and my mum as a bit of a treat.

Sunday will be a day of rest 😴

Lovemaltesers · 21/06/2019 19:23

Sorry to have been missing again

We’re off to see Toy Story 4 tomorrow too girlie

Been fairly frugal ish here. Only big spend was making a lump sum payment off the mortgage but that itself is frugal

Hope everyone is doing ok, just rubbish at posting at the moment

Lovemaltesers · 21/06/2019 19:27

Does anyone here know much about civil service recruitment regarding pay negotiations? Looking at a job which is the same grade I used to be, although pay scale is lower. Would it be realistic to ask for top of pay scale if I got it? And do you think previous service could count towards a/l entitlement? Left cs about 18 months ago

northender · 22/06/2019 06:49

love I don't think you'd have any entitlement to previous terms after a break in service, but it is definitely worth an ask, they're likely to have some flexibility you'd think? Good luck with it.
Toy Story is on at our local independent cinema. Dh & I want to go, not sure either of the dc would go with us!
Dd's drama show was last night & was fab. She was brilliant, so confident & assured.
Ds is just the same really, when his eye flares up his fatigue does too, or is it the other way round? He has a GP appointment on Wednesday which I'll try to go to with him.
Today is about cricket teas & then dh & I are going to a folk gig tonight. Spending this week has been low. £50 at supermarket yesterday, nothing else. Dh did well in London. He kept within his claimable expenses & came home with a bottle of wine too.

maddenlightfoot · 22/06/2019 07:17

I think so too love - I'm sure from stints in CS that any break in service negates a/l bonuses as it has to be continuous service. The pay grade however, yes, I would negotiate for top of band if successful. Good luck!

North it sounds like you have a lovely day planned! We saw an ace folk band at a wedding recently - so fun!

We're planning on visiting Kensington gardens today so probably some travel and lunch out expenses.

Lovemaltesers · 22/06/2019 07:36

Thank you for your thoughts. Yes, the continuous service might be a big ask I agree. When I get offered jobs, I nearly always forget to try to negotiate the details as I can never believe that they actually want me Blush

The DC have already woken me up as I think they are more excited than me that it is my birthday Smile

Cagliostro · 22/06/2019 07:40

Happy birthday love! 💖💐

Caglets’ dance show today at the theatre. DS’ first one. Need to buy mess free, allergy safe snacks for them to have backstage but no other spends planned as already have my ticket.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/06/2019 07:41

Happy birthday love.
Shopping for a big food shop today. £££
Pony, footy, £30.
Cash for Monday physio £30
Want a mooch to IKEA. Shoe storage, towel storage, desk for DD room.
DH needs work clothes ££

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 22/06/2019 08:21

Happy birthday Love

Interesting day yesterday. Knocked a diamond out of my ring whilst cleaning and, when I took it for repair, had a chat about selling my wedding and engagement rings. I’m going to take them in next week to discuss further.

Spend £86 in Ikea. For me I only bought a rug, a bin and some picture frames, I wanted a floor standing mirror but couldn’t lift it so need to rope in df. Also bought ds some storage bits for his room which he is chuffed with.

Wore brushed one of the outside windowsills ready to paint, they all need doing but the jarring of it is killing my wrist so one at a time.

Finished the day finding out h is in hospital. I’ve told ds he is poorly and can’t see him but not that he’s in hospital. He seems to have taken that ok so hopefully h’s condition improves and we don’t have to have a more challenging convo

Spends today - paint and maybe cinema. Going to do one windowsill and mow the grass. May wire brush another if I’m feeling energetic Grin have a great weekend frugaleers

ChristmasSeacow · 22/06/2019 08:41

Happy birthday Love - you share a birthday with DD who is 2 today! I can’t believe my baby is getting so big...

I’ve hardly had any sleep and am soooo tired - I was up till 3am icing bloody Peppa Pig biscuits. They’re for DD’s party tomorrow but I still need to cover and decorate the cake (I’ve stacked the rainbow layers though). And clean the house - the cleaner is on holiday and after just two weeks we’ve descended into filth and chaos, which I need to correct before the school mums descend!

Not an NSD, DS has requested that we go to a local Belgian cafe for brunch. It’s a bit of a treat place but as it’s DD’s birthday and we have no particular plans we thought we might as well! The hairdresser is also coming to cut DS’s hair and I need to do a party top up shop for fresh fruit etc.

Lovely sunny day here and tomorrow is forecast to be dry, yay!!!!

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 22/06/2019 08:52

Happy birthday Sea’s dd 🎈🧸

Lovemaltesers · 22/06/2019 09:12

Happy birthday sea DD 🍭🧁 I can’t believe she is 2 already!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/06/2019 09:19

Selling your rings is a big step wolf. You ok?. Hope h gets better and you don't have to have a more tricky convo. For you and DS more than anything

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/06/2019 09:20

Happy birthday sea DD.

Girliefriendlikescake · 22/06/2019 10:26

Happy birthday love and sea's dd birthday 🍰 🎁 🎂 hope you both have a lovely day!!

Sea you're very good to hand make so much food, I've always made the bday cake but not sure I'd be committed enough to make peppa pig biscuits!! I can't believe your dd is 2 already bless her.

We had a slight trauma last night as dd injured herself at the local park, she managed to get hit on the side of the head by a roundabout swing. Her ear is all sorts of colours this morning, it took her a long time to calm down Ystd evening and I debated a&e as she was so upset. She seems fine this morning other than the funny coloured ear. Is it an ASD thing to be so accident prone?! Thinking about it she has had above average falls, trips, random accidents and most trips anywhere result in an injury of some description!! I'm guessing its def ASD to take 3 1/2 hours to calm down....

ememem84 · 22/06/2019 11:56

HAppy birthday y’all!!

£33 at local farm shop. Rolled pork loin, sausages burgers two scotch eggs and three sausage rolls (the latter two for lunch the rest for bbq tomorrow). And two small tubs of jersey dairy ice cream.

Am going to slice the pork and then marinate in fish sauce ginger garlic and lemon grass and bbq tomorrow. Serve with sticky rice and slices of orange. The burgers are for those (my sis) who won’t eat Vietnamese porn. Whatever we don’t eat can be frozen.

Also saw the cows. Yay!!

The meat was expensive. But. It comes from the farm. And is gorgeous. So I don’t mind spending on the nice stuff.

Also they use the whole animal. In the butcher counter and in the fridge I saw piggy trotters beef tongue and all sorts of Offaly bits (I wouldn’t eat that myself but obviously some people do!)

Had words with dh today as he started off on the “house is a shit hole” saga again. I cried. Actual tears. And told him that a) in uncomfortable b)can’t do anything with ds around c) stop telling me it’s my fault and d) had he cleaned the bathroom yet from when he had that tummy bug 6 weeks ago.

He stropped off to fils with ds. While they were gone I cleaned kitchen shoved everything I could in dishwasher and washed the rest, hung laundry out, put new load on, cleaned bathroom. (Should add - I cleaned bathroom while dh was Ill 6 weeks ago and have done it once/twice a week since).

Cleaner is being messaged later today to start once I go on leave.

Fils now here and is chopping down a bay tree. Dh was going to go to yoga but fil has shamed him for wanting to do gay girly exercises. So I do feel sorry for dh on that front. Ds is napping.

Need to waddle down to coop later on to pick up some more bits for bbq tomorrow (for DMs birthday). And then to Iceland for cheap ice lollies.

Just having a rest up now. Snacking on cucumber and apple slices.
