That’s really silly about the bikini em I thought the whole trend was supposed to be about mixing & matching them Confused I hope your DH feels better soon. Looks like he may have caught what your DS had?

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 09:01

Ah Em hope dh feels better soon. Taking ds out for a while sounds like a good idea.

I feel like I have a mountain of jobs to do, spending Fridays off with ds during half term has meant that no proper cleaning or ironing ha been done. He is only with his dad for two hours today (of which I will spend 30 mins travelling back from dropping him off) so there is no way I can do it all in that time. I’m trying to decide on what thing will make most difference

Girliefriendlikescake · 27/04/2019 09:25

Morning all, it's very blowy here today!

Wolf I was thinking similar about housework, I've not had time to catch up at home since half term so now floors need doing, bathroom and downstairs loo need a clean plus everywhere needs a tidy and obviously the washing pile needs sorting as well 😒 My brother mentioned last week that they're getting a cleaner, apparently she only charges £13 an hour, I'm seriously tempted!!

Had a nice evening with dd last night, I was feeling guilty as I'd inadvertently freaked her out by leaving my car at home earlier in the day as my colleague was able to drive me about. She came home from school, saw the car and thought I was here, then couldn't get hold of me (I was with a patient) and thought I'd been kidnapped or something 😱 she burst into tears when I got home bless her.

So to make up for that and to celebrate surviving my first week and payday we got a dominoes 😁 was really yummy, cost £17 and that included 4 separate items (was on a deal) we ate and cuddled up to watched a film so all was good in the world again.

Not much planned today, may pop up to the garden centre, catch up with housework and that's about it...

Hope your dh feels better today em.

happytobemrsg · 27/04/2019 10:34

Oh your poor dd Girlie! She’s got a fab imagination though Grin

Just fell asleep on the sofa. Was out for a work thing last night, DS was restless in the night & I got up with him this morning so DH could sleep in for once (he was working downstairs til 2am talking to people in Australia). Won’t blther taking dress back today. Will just chill, eat & get ready for tonight (if DS let’s me).

ememem84 · 27/04/2019 12:24

Dh has eaten something. Half a rice cake. But it’s a start. He’s also showered.

Ds and I have just got back. We went to see dparents for a second breakfast. And we’re gifted a humongous bag of French madelines. Mmm. Fruity ones. Jammy ones. Chocolate ones. Mmmmm.

And two bin bags of 18-24m clothes for ds from dgodmothers nephews wife’s sister. Or something. Either way. Super generous.

We’ve also popped to Waitrose in the way back for naice fruit, anti bac sprays and a shit ton of bleach. And a dinosaur gingerbread biscuit for ds. We also spent £7 on magazines for dh. Men’s health and men’s fitness. Ds pointed at the models on the front and said “daddy”

He also said “Ello” to everyone in the shop. Literally everyone. And was a super good helper.
£50 something in the shop I think. I wasn’t really paying attention. Just tired and wanted to get home.

He’s down for a nap now. He is super tired. Fingers crossed he naps.

Jobs this afternoon. Bleach the entire house including door knobs etc. Laundry. Maybe have a nap if dh is happy entertaining ds for a while. He has promised to bleach the upstairs bathroom.

I am doing the downstairs one as this is the one furthest away from him.

Fun times here.

Dh is feeling mega guilty for leaving me to deal with everything today. But it is what it is. If he was languishing in bed with a cold I’d be mega pissed off. But this is somewhat more than that.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 12:33

Ironing done and put away - bloody mountains of it.

Wet washing hung on heated Airey
Dishwasher unloaded and reloaded and on
Rubbish and recycling out
Whole house dusted and downstairs vacuumed.

That’s it now I am hot and bothered, this cold comes with a spectacular Temperature too and I have properly warmed myself up.

Dinner will be pulled brisket and onions a la freezer in hot baguettes. I intend to spend the rest of the day drinking tea with a sofa stuck to my arse

maddenlightfoot · 27/04/2019 13:02

Wolf that sounds like a perfect afternoon! I'm going to make myself a brew in a minute and read a chapter of my book whilst the girls are playing happily for once

Poor dh em. Hope he's feeling better son and you get a nap x

My NSD yesterday actually ended up being £23 on lunch for me and friend. I had a night out on her last night so it was only fair but it takes my total spending on food and drinks out in the last 8 days to £121 Shock!! I knew this was a spendy area for us but this is shocking, especially as I've only spent around £40 on groceries!! We're out again tomorrow at a 'free' attraction where we usually go to the cafe. Need to chat to DH to think of a plan. We're meeting friends so may try to meet them early to avoid lunch out or perhaps after lunch.

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 13:41

wolf anytime you run out of housework to do - feel free to pop over this side of the hill.
Em he sounds properly poorly.
Madden it is easy to do.

Gardening plans are on hold this weekend.... can't think why [hmmm]. So today has been a day of food shopping and baking. Feta and chive scones, apricot tart and another riis taarrte. I am in a bit of a rush because I need to pick up the rest of the family at 3.

ememem84 · 27/04/2019 14:01

He is now attempting a banana. An apple and another rice cake.

Ds didn’t nap. So we had lunch (leftover pizza, some crisps, shared an apple an orange and something madelines). He “helped” me sweep the floor and fold the laundry. Or some of it at least.

He’s in his cot. Babbling away to himself. Am really hoping he naps. He’s been up since 6. And only a 10 minute snooze in the car on the way home. I’m knackered.

Dh has just said he’s transferred money to my account to cover my hair, another bottle of seedlip “gin” and a pedicure. He keeps apologising. Which there is no need for. He is not well. It can’t be helped.

I’m in bed now with catface. She’s giving me a massage. 😻 have a cup of tea and some chocolate. And I’m planning a nap. Maybe.

It is hella windy here today. Ferries have been cancelled all over the place. We’ve been warned not to drive coastal roads at high tide. Exciting.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2019 16:35

Ah poor dh em.
I've top to bottomed the house.
Feeling very anxious now after a Facebook post about plastic and a picture of an arid planet in 2066. My DC will be in their 40s wtf. I didn't have kids for them to have that future.
It's making me really upset tbh.

Girliefriendlikescake · 27/04/2019 16:58

Back from the garden centre, spent £30 about half of that was a gift for my friends bday (a good friend of over 30 years) and got 4 plants to put out tomorrow.

It's still really windy here 💨💨💨

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 17:25

life it is a worry, but the modelling shows some parts getting more arid as the rain belts move further north & south. We will most likely see more stormy conditions, and there is a thought that the jet stream will be disrupted. If that happens then we may see colder winters and warmer summers. Having said that even small variations make big changes to the modelled effects.

I went to a really hippy school and all the things that people are starting to do - recycling, public transport, keeping flying to a minimum, not using single use plastic, mending things that break, using seasonal, local food etc are all things we have always done. For the last 45 years I was considered v. odd and people would always dismiss it as not being worth doing. Now the penny is starting to drop. I am glad to see people take action.

Girlie it is grim here too - wind and wet. I will not be going out again.

I have been abandoned by my family until tomorrow Sad. I am going to tuck up on the sofa and watch rubbish tele with a glass of vin.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 18:27

Unescorted I so want to know if that’s gin, wine or both

Lovemaltesers · 27/04/2019 19:47

My mum seems ok and so glad to be home. Thank you for all your kind thoughts

It’s been a crazy week here. DPs work has been rather trying due to an issue there, combined with me worrying about my mum. The four day week has felt double the length it was really. The amount of chocolate/cake consumption really needs to be reduced after we finish tonight’s cheesecake

Sorry your DH is unwell em. The looking after DC when unwell is so, so hard. Glad you got a bit of time earlier to rest though

madden, agree the eating out is shocking when you tally it all up. But very eye opening and a good place for finding savings

I’m hoping to get back to the thread more after half term. There’s lots to do at the moment so mainly lurking

Lovemaltesers · 27/04/2019 19:49

Glad your first week went well girlie. It’s tough being the newbie

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 19:56

Wolf - a very fine Fitou. One of my dad's French collection. Selfishly I am glad it is mine.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 20:45

I love a fitou, definitely better not to share. I’ve finished off the last couple of glasses from a pour sauvignon bland and am having a negroni, hoping it might numb a sore mouth - I have what looks like a bruise on the roof of my mouth

Early sports and then scout stuff tomorrow so hoping for a decent nights sleep.

Love glad your mum is doing ok at home and sorry to hear dh is having a tough week, hopefully you will have a quieter week next week

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 20:52

Absolutely. What has caused the bruising?

I am registration overseer for a fell race tomorrow. Check them in count them out and count them back in. With this rain it is not going to be pleasant for them - really soggy underfoot, high river level over a waterfall...the one where a lady dies last weekend.

lifelongfrugaleer · 27/04/2019 21:13

Gosh that's really sad unescorted. Poor woman.

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 21:20

Yes - I hope her family have comfort that she was doing something she loved doing in a beautiful part of the world.

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 21:31

That is really sad, poor family.

I hope you are going to wrap up warm tomorrow. I assume the bruise is related to the cold/virus I have, I haven’t injured my mouth in any way it’s just appeared

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 21:44

Yes. I am inside or low level so should be OK .

Maybe get it checked? It sounds a little odd. Have you blown your nose really hard?

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 27/04/2019 22:01

Yes there’s been some aggressive blowing so I assume that’ll be it

Unescorted · 27/04/2019 22:18

I do that honky goose sound when I have a bad cold. Usually when I have headphones in on the train ….I am never sure if it is aloud as it sounds to me. Possibly people are really polite.

Girliefriendlikescake · 27/04/2019 22:50

Is it painful wolf?

Glad your mum is feeling a bit better love

Had a chilled afternoon here, not done much really, just ordered an eyebrow epilator £15 was a bit of an impulse buy but had good reviews.
