I'd like to get mine looking like wrecks because that's a level I think I could maintain.

SnugglySnerd · 14/01/2018 06:26

Mammy we have the same kitchen units!

I'm enjoying all the kitchens but too scared to post pics incase anyone recognises me/my clutter! I'm somewhere in the middle clutte-wise though. I live the tiles in Em's kitchen.

Adora your hair is lovely. Really shiny.

Cag and Christmas it's adorable when they find their feet. DD2 in particular was delighted with hers!

Should be NSD today. No plans at all as yet. Maybe some baking.

WreckTangled · 14/01/2018 07:18

Thanks mammy Grin I think mine is the 'lived in' look! I could probably get it tidied but wouldn't be able to keep it that way

Seacow I would have woken him up too, dh wouldn't have minded Wink

Snuggly I think I don't care I'm anyone recognised me...I don't think so anyway.

We're off to Alice Holt forest today to do the highway rat trail. Bil is coming too.

ememem84 · 14/01/2018 07:20

Morning. We survived the first night in ds’ room. Fingers crossed it stays like this. He took a while longer to get to sleep but he slept. He did wake up at 530... I left him babbling to himself until 6 ish but then caved and did the nappy change and feed. He is so smiley. Just grins at everything/one.

Dh is snoring away in our room. I’ve popped ds back in his basket and have asked him to go back to sleep. I could do with another few hours minutes

Should be nsd today. We have friends coming for late lunch - slow roasted lamby lamb lamb and “dolphin” potatoes.

More decluttering to be done today. Going to try and tackle the under the bed zones. I know we have storage boxes there. But am not sure what’s in them.

ememem84 · 14/01/2018 07:21

seacow yeah i would have woken dh up too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 14/01/2018 07:48

Football today. Dd at her friends as she doest want to watch the match. Nsd will be today.

Afreshcuppateaplease · 14/01/2018 08:08

The kitchens pictures are great. Mine is mid range. I would like it tidy tidy but as soon as there is an empty space a bit of bike or art studio takes up residence. It is a source of friction. I never know if the things are rubbish that hasn't made it to the bin or a vitally important thing that needs keeping.

We had a non day yesterday. I will have to make up for it today because I need to start packing for Strathpuffer - the weather looks snowy so will need to pack right so all the wood can be packed for the burner. I need to get all the fleece blankets and small camping rugs packed because if I leave it to dh I will freeze while DS and DH ride. He forgets that there is time outside the race.... So in his mind because he is sat on the bike we don't need to take camping chairs. Guess who gets to sit on the ground while they share the only seat we have between us. Rant over. 😒
Pay day tomorrow - I hate waiting for the Jan pay day. It always seems to take so long to get here.

Loveabaconsandwich · 14/01/2018 08:49

you must have an important conversation with DH to check whether he wishes to be woken up in that scenario. And check he knows what your wishes are if the scenario is reversed. Hope you are not too hungover Brew

I think everyone here is getting colds so hoping for a quiet day —in front of the tv— with naps —for me—

ChristmasSeacow · 14/01/2018 09:20

I am LOL at all the comments on waking DH. I am sorry to disappoint but I didn’t wake him, mainly because DD is still in our room and likely to wake up within the hour anyway. And I wasn’t wrong about that...

Ah well. Wedding anniversary in May anyway Grin

Clutter-wise my kitchen looked most like Need’s at 3pm yesterday (though much less posh!) This morning it looks more like Mammy’s. That’s what happens when we make a meal there and then DH is in charge of washing up.

I’ve a teeny bit of a headache today. Off for gas trip in lunch with BIL and SIL in lieu of Christmas get-together so will be spendy. I invited them here but they preferred to meet in town because it’s quite far to cross London. At least DS gets to go on the tube (which he likes) so just hoping the kids behave!

ChristmasSeacow · 14/01/2018 09:23

That should say gastropub lunch. Autocorrect doesn’t like that!

SnugglySnerd · 14/01/2018 09:27

We have the same problem Unescorted. One of us puts something on the counter and it stays there because nobody knows if it's rubbish or not. I tend to put important post that needs dealing with there so that I don't forget about it.
DH uses it as a holding area for things he needs to put in the garage or shed but can't be bothered yet so there is often a screwdriver, hammer etc lying about. Just what you need in a tiny kitchen with a curious 3 yr old!

Wolfcub · 14/01/2018 09:39

We have a kitchen clutter spot too, I’m convinced it’s mostly dh’s but I could be wrong, I might gut it later. I had a bit of a go at the filing cabinet yestersay and dh and ds made a good fire in the chimenea with the resulting paperwork.
We had a bit of a non-day yesterday too. Ds has rugby today so I will freeze on the touch lines (dh doesn’t go - point of tension here) and then home for soup and maybe a game or film. Ocado coming at 9, I keep adding thinga we’ve run out of to the shopping so my careful£100 spend isn’t anymore

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 14/01/2018 09:46

I ruthlessly move stuff to DH’s study of the garage. Also throw stuff out when he isn’t in: we had a scene about a large collection of empty ice cream tubs that he thought would be useful and which I chucked out because they were hexagonal and a total pita

QuiteCleanBandit · 14/01/2018 09:53

I finally cracked after years of the same Snuggly and Unescorted
I have a beautiful kitchen and its my space.
Sick of crap being dumped -I feel really anxious around untidyness and clutter.
I tried to compromise but in the end I decided I would rather live alone and so the D word was mentioned (not lightly and after years of asking, pleading and silently raging)
The lightbulb moment was realising that some people think of doing a task as one job and clearing it up as another.I think of it as one task.
DH gets it now and it has filtered through to the 1-3 other adults who are here at various times.
Decluttering and proper storage has helped plus a strict budget that doesnt include replacing "lost" cant be bothered to put away so it can be found things.
Im not expecting it to be spotless but I like things to be clean and tidy .
Not posting a kitchen pic ( for obvious reasons) but I love it.
Its soft grey with lots of shiny Smile

Unescorted · 14/01/2018 10:00

I am glad we aren't alone

Wolfcub · 14/01/2018 10:04

CleanBandit I agree about the two kinds of people, in our house it’s hanging Washing in the heated aired which involves removing dry wShing from it to make room. 1 job. Dh constantly complains that this is two jobs and it therefore takes him all bloody day to get around to doing it which boils my piss!

SnugglySnerd · 14/01/2018 10:15

That's a good way of looking at it. I might try to persuade dh that tidying up is part of the task. I'm guilty of it sometimes. Usually if decorating is involved. I don't mind doing the decorating but I hate hate hate washing all the brushes and things so I tend to shove them in the garage and ignore for as long as possible!

Our kitchen will be better in a few weeks when we can ditch the steriliser and boxes of formula. They take up a lot of space.

ememem84 · 14/01/2018 10:20

Ah dh is a “two jobber” I have just found a basket of wet washing. Sigh. I asked him to put a wash on yesterday. Turns out it’s not logical in his head to take wet washing out put new washing in hang wet washing to dry. Hoping it can just be dried and salvaged.

Same with fixing the bloody tv. He’s ballsed up the freebies by deleting the satellite thing. So I’ve changed the Netflix and WiFi passwords. He has to fix the tv if he wants both.

ilovepicnmix · 14/01/2018 10:39

Low spend weekend for me. I'm really trying to spend as little as possible on food this month as the freezer is rammed with yellow sticker bargains - I've been very lucky recently. Will avoid the supermarket today as I've got enough fruit and veg to last me another few days.

QuiteCleanBandit · 14/01/2018 10:48

It really was a light bulb moment !!
DH was the same and baffled as to why I was peed off at stinky damp washing.
We do our own laundry now cue the menz panic washing 30 pairs of pants
Its so civilised Grin

Cagliostro · 14/01/2018 10:49

More spends last night, 49p on a puzzle app (already completed it 🤓🤓🤓) and used more of voucher on amazon so no actual money. Got friend’s present and a piano book from my Christmas money

Sundays are always a Non day here, DH usually works and the Caglets play out with friends. So with clingy cluster feedy baby I get a bit frustrated with not being able to get much done. But last week I decided to just accept it for now, she’s only little once. DH can do plenty before work anyway. It used to be prime takeaway territory but I’ve got an easy pasta bake planned
